  1. Does anybody know how to make the postcat o2 sensors read clean on a 997TT without a retune? Does anyone make MIL eliminators for these cars?

    If you've changed the exhaust system you can get CEL's. O2 (bung) extensions are commonly used for this and almost always fix the problem without going to an ECU flash.

    thanks for the reply. Does the ECU's perameters have a limit on the lean side or does it only trip a light from the rich side? I guess the question would be, can I simply over extend the bung by about 2" to 3" or is there a "sweet spot"?

    I wouldn't want to guess here, best to check with your reputable tuner and I'm sure you'll be satisfied. If the extension doesn't work you may be looking at a faulty O2 sensor(s). The claim that after market products (and I don't mean to slam anyone here) are always problem/error free is not the case. However, there are many excellent products (you tend to get what you pay for with Porsche) but we consumers need to be aware of gliches that can arise.

  3. I had my "warning" for my one year scheduled check come on as well for my 07 TT. I think the "scheduled" maintenance is a guideline and definitely needs to vary according to driving styles etc. An oil change just after the "break in" period is a good idea from all those I checked with. Since I use my TT as my daily driver all year (Canadian winters included), road trips (I'm currently on a 2 week jaunt in NW USA), and track (about a dozen times a season) I will change my maintenance and oil changes done more regularly than the books recommends. I think this will be about 2 oil changes and one minor maintenance check a year, when manual recommended regular maintenance is not in effect.

  4. Here is some more info re outside & inside sound. I wish there was a good video of the stock exhaust sound, at various rpm, to compare these with.

    The sound, at least from these recordings, seems a bit deeper (I like a rumble), not too loud, and a nice howl when you step on it. Still, the Fabspeed has a similar sound, although it seems a bit louder with more of a gurgle when idling. It's hard to decide without a good quality stock exhaust set up as a basis for comparison.

    Update. I had a chance to actually listen to a couple at my tuners and decided on the AWE. A quality product with a fairly aggressive sound but not over the top for us "older" drivers.

  5. This is my 4th winter with my 2005 c2S. I just replaced my rear Conti Winter Contacts. Even without all-wheel drive, this car is excellent in the snow. I find that it is ground clearance which limits my ability to get around in deep snow. Having rwd allows me to have some fun. PSM will come on to get me out of trouble. There is nothing as much fun as finding an unplowed parking lot and turning off PSM!! I can spin the car on its axis!!

    I use 18in wheels for winter, and keep my 19's for the summer. I find the ride excellent with the winter tires on dry or wet roads quite stable at triple digit speeds.

    During a recent snowstorm, my car was in for service and the dealer gave me a new Cayenne to drive, with stock all-season tires. I could not believe how much better my C2S with snows performed!!

    Bottom line: TIRES are the most important factor in getting around. Having drive wheels under the engine helps. All-wheel drive with bad tires just means you'll be able to GO better than you'll be able to STEER or STOP!! Experience and common sense driving are necessary for safe winter driving.

    Can't wait for another snowstorm -- I'll be out playing in the snow!!

    For a fellow Calgarian, waiting for 977 delivery that will be used as daily driver all year, your post are encouraging. Have you had any trouble with sliding sideways due to large rear tires, or stopping?

  6. Has anyone installed the exhaust from awe…. I am considering this exhaust upgrade!! I am wanting a more aggressive sound.. as well as a performance boost.

    Good question. I'm also considering the AWE exhaust upgrade after listening to the Fabspeed and other sounds on the internet. I'd like to know if this upgrade reduces the (small) turbo lag that still comes in the 997TT. And, does it just bolt on with no other mods necessary with no down side? Does the sound inside the cabin increase noticeably?

    Anyone out there with the 997TT AWE exhaust upgrade that can speak from experience?
