Need Advice On Gearbox Issue
in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)
Posted
I have a 996 Carrera Cabriolet, 3.4 litre. The car is about 4 ½ years
old has been fully serviced by porsche service center. Recently I ran into some problems with the gearbox and was notified by Porsche service
centre that the gearbox had to be replaced because the shaft was broken.
Porsche service center has informed me, that the transmission failure is due to
a sudden mechanical failure and this can happen any time. Please can
someone clarify this issue. I am already aware of the RMS problem and I think it is related to this as I have already had a clutch and engine replacement
before. The gearbox problem that I was experiencing is that whenever I
was on first gear, the car would jerk a bit and then move fine after i put
it on second.
thanks
RS
