  1. I have an excellent guy in Rockland County if this is to far. Let me know and I will send you the information.
  2. Not trying to be a wise guy, but on my '02 C4 Cabrio I have to lift the button, not push it..
  3. Loren, Would it be possible for me to get a copy of this TSB? Thanks
  4. Loren, thanks again for all the help. I just ordered the part.
  5. Also, see the TSB and DIY articles on this site, they are informative.
  6. Loren, this is great, in pic 2, item 8 is the piece I believe I need. Looks like I will just need to take screws 7 out to replace this piece. Was there in anything in pic 3 that would be helpful? Thanks again.
  7. Do you know if this is one piece which is the frame and the LED? And, how difficult is it to install? Does anyone have a real picture of this part? I would hate to order it and find out it doesn't match what I need. Again, Loren thanks for all your help.
  8. Absolutely, I can go all the way down my driveway now. About 50 or so feet, I don't have the final range at the moment, but I'm completely happy since the remote only worked when I was next to the car.
  9. See Item 23, I think that is the part you called the LED cover. It mounts onto a part which has the LED. I can't tell if it is the LED frame or something the LED part mounts into, which has this little tab, but the LED cover goes over this part and the part 21 which is the vent cover interlocks into in the center of the dash. I just looked again at the parts catalog again and the only part I could see being what I broke is 996.552.541.02, I assume 996.653.251.00 mounts in the the 996.552.541.02, but I can't tell. And, I can't tell at all which part has the LED. But, 996.552.541.02 is the only part that looks like it has the tab which I broke
  10. I knew I wasn't being clear. It isn't a separate clip, it is part of the plastic piece which holds the alarm LED which flashes when the car is locked/unlocked. It isn't a clip per say, it is more of a plastic tab on this piece. The alarm LED cover is all one piece so for the exact part number I would need the color (and whether it is leather covered or not). 996.552.990.02.xxx (where "xxx' designated the color/texture) -- about $40 - $53 depending on covering. Loren, thanks for having patience. But, it is not the alarm cover, but the piece the alarm cover covers. Maybe that is what I should have said in the beginning.
  11. What are you replacing the wood trim with? Mine is suffering from same fate. I bought a new dark root wood passanger side trim in grey but don't have the drivers side. Yes, the wood trim in the vent piece. Mine is Dark wood with Savannah leather. I don't plan on putting wood back. For one, Porsche prices for these pieces are just crazy and two, I assume if I put wood back the same thing would happen again. So far what I have done is, I purchased non-leather, non-wood, plastic color matching vents on eBay. I have removed my leather/cracked wood vents from the car and have replaced them with the plastic ones. This way the car still looks okay and the defroster still functions properly. I have removed the wood trim completety from my original vents and I'm considering either painting or installing leather in the strip where the wood was. I'm having Red leather put on the door pull handles and pockets covers as the wood is crumpling there too. So, I thought it was be nice if the vent strips matched. My car is Guards Red, hence the Red leather on the inside. It goes well with the wood on the center console and Savannah leather on the dash board.
  12. I knew I wasn't being clear. It isn't a separate clip, it is part of the plastic piece which holds the alarm LED which flashes when the car is locked/unlocked. It isn't a clip per say, it is more of a plastic tab on this piece.
  13. Thanks Loren, but this clip is on the side of the vent trim, I probably wasn't clear, but the piece I'm looking for is what the alarm LED sits in or maybe it is one piece. On both sides of this piece are little clips/tabs (the plastic is in a right angle) and the two vents (left and right) sort of hook into it so they stay down. Then the trim piece with the hole for the LED mounts on top. I don't know if this is clear, if not I can take a picture of it.But because this little plastic tab is broken the interlocking between the vent, this broken piece and the trim with the hole won't stay locked into place. Thanks
  14. I was in the process of removing the windshield(defroster) vents because the wood trim has completely delaminated and I broke one of the small clips on the center piece which holds alarm LED. I knew it was inter-linked together with the vent, but even with being careful I broke one side. Does anybody know the part number for this piece and how difficult is it to replace? TIA
  15. I was going to perform the TSB concerning Insufficient Remote Range. I also reviewed the DIY on fixing this problem too. My remote usually only works when I was next to the car (very short distances). So, I took the A-Pillar panel off to find a slightly different setup than I was expecting. My car is a '02 C4 Cabrio. First of all I was expecting a white wire, but the wire was clear. Also, it wasn't a continuous wire, the clear section was attached to a black wire. It was situated within the bundle as described and when I removed it from the bundle the distance increased as expected. I didn't cut it, just moved it outside the bundle. Just letting others know not all cars are configured the same. See the pictures below.
  16. I live in the NY Tri-State area, or should I say the pothole capital of the world. So, my question is, is it possible to repair these wheels? If yes, does anybody know a good wheel repair should in the NY area or Northern NJ? TIA
  17. Just wanted to close this out, got the car back about a week ago and the problem stemmed from a bad Immobilizer. Once it was replaced the windows worked perfectly. And, this was the only thing in the car which wasn't working properly. Thanks again for all suggestions on what to look at.
  18. Thanks to everyone who tried helping me, I will be bringing the car to my Indy either this or next week. In a last ditch effort, I disconnected the battery and double checked every fuse in the fuse box. No burnt out fuse and after reconnecting the battery the problem still exists. I will post what the solution is once it is fixed.
  19. If there is an immobiliser under the driver's front seat, check for moisture or water. This is not an uncommon problem with Boxsters when the convertible top drains clog and water enters the cabin and finds its way under the driver's seat. If the 996 has the same immobiliser, it's worth a check. Regards, Maurice. No water in the either seat well, the car never sees rain either. I would think other things would no be functioning, but everything is working perfectly. No dash lights, nothing malfunctioning other than the windows won't open or close with the switch buttons. The windows either do their drop when opening the door and will open/close when raising the cabrio top. I've the checked fuses and all good. Is there anything else which could be central to all four windows not working via the switches. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  20. Help '02 Cab, all four windows are not going up or down. The front windows do drop when opening and closing the doors. This just happened and I've never had this problem. Things done with the car in the last week. Installed my hardtop, had the car state inspected. The inspection station opened the drivers window and I one click closed it to drive home so they were working after the above was done. Parked the car, went out later to it and none of the windows will open, the buttons do nothing. I've checked the fuses for the alarm and windows and they are all good. What to check next? Or what is wrong? It is something central as all 4 switches couldn't go bad at once. I just took the hardtop off and the problem still exists. ...Removed the hardtop and the problem still exists, however it should be noted, the windows did go up/down with the soft top going up and down as it should.
  21. Totally agree. Thank you Loren and Happy New Year's to all.
  22. Thanks for the information, I will be looking at this issue in the next couple of weeks. I will keep you informed of what I find.
  23. Anybody ever figure this out? I have a '02 C4 Cabrio and I noticed this morning that the lower carpeting on the drivers door is wet. The window seal looks good and the carpeting in the car is dry. Need some guidance. Thanks
  24. I have the same issue when backing out of my garage. As far as I know it is totally normal. In fact, I have the same problem with a BMW M3 which I own. Maybe its a German Design thing.
  25. It can really be anywhere, but as indicated in my picture I attached, is likely mounted (glued/ body putty/ Velcro) to the inside of the actual bumper cover (where I indicated). It will be below the tail lights and actually in the cover itself. If you look where the yellow box is in my photo, it will likely be on the inside of the cover, or mounted on the chassis right there or nearby. That is one location where there is room for the box to fit. If it is not the blue-tooth version, you can likely follow the wiring? Either way...I think if you remove your rear bumper cover you will find it pretty easily. Won't be near any of the exhaust components to prevent damage. Hope that helps. DC Thanks for the information and help.
