    yup...it is on. YOu can do to the OBC hack and get the full functionality of the OBC if you so desire. I did and it is a great resource (especially the fuel remaining)!

    Trust me, this is not an area you want to skimp on. The results are in the professional installer. Do a search on this topic. I had the same questions last year and couldn't be happier with paying the best in town (does work for the Porsche dealer). Instead of paying the dealer $800, I called my service guy and got the name and number of the installer and went directly to him. Cost me about $400. EXCELLENT WORK! This is not a DIY nor is it something you want to pay the cheapest bid for. Shotty work can turn out looking like that--cheap. Pony up the money, and get it done right. My installer took about 6 hours (if I remember correctly). It is the labor you are paying for not the film. The film is just a few dollars worth (especially is your installer buys in bulk rolls and cut to fit yours).

    Leaks? What type? If you have any pronounced leaks (like oil, coolant, etc.) that is something that should be evident on the garage floor. The preventative maintenance may do the trick. You can commonly misfire due to bad plugs, fuel filter, air filter.

    Wow! That is something you really need to go get checked out. Clearing the codes in hopes that it will go away can be more costly than you might think. Clearly the 1128 would have been acceptable to see if it goes back on... check out this thread and see Loren's comments about 1128 http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...c=2555&hl=P1128 But, when you start hearing loud thuds and you want to see if they will come back you are probably heading down a path you down't want to venture. Sure it may be nothing more than a misfire, but do you really want to risk that? FYI....A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING IS DEFINED AS STOP DRIVING AND HAVE TOWED TO DEALER IMMEDIATELY!

    The only problem is the bulbs that are blue coated look very "ricer" in a porsche when they are not illuminated and are reflecting blue inside the housing during the daytime. Not very attractive on a car of this stature. Also, for saftey sake, the blue coating diminishes the "throw" abilities of the bulb. Very dangerous (and illegal).

    Not opposed at all. Just know that it is impossible to get an accurate database compiled because of many factors. The only true database is in the hands of Porsche and they are not gonig to give that to you. Even if you could get EVERYBODY on this board to give you that information you woldn't even be scratching the surface since we represent less than 1% of the cars that have or the potential to have an RMS problem.

    ok, so I just finished editing the video I shot and it isn't very good (I think the DIY pages you can print here are better). The problem is that there really isn't enough light under the car so vital items are hard to see. Sorry about that.     I recently bought some Mobil1 with a promotion that ended a year ago (which tells me the oil is older than that). Is there an expiration on oil?

    One step ahead of you TP. Just need to download of the camera. Thanks for all the input from everyone!!! I will post the picture of the strtipped plug as well as (hopefully) be done editing the oil change DIY video this afternoon so that is avail as well. Cheers, Dell

    Pride is being able to fix the situation yourself. It's not like I am performing rocket science here with a plug that is stripped. The easy out worked great. I hammered that S.O.B. in nice and tight and attached an adjustsable wrench and used a breaker bar....VOILA! Oil change complete. Video to follow..............

    Thanks Joe.....(and Jeff). I just got back from Sears and bought a 9mm (alan key--not hex bit in 9) and 10mm hex bit as well as a "screw extractor" that looks like the winner. I will start with the screw extractor and go from there.

    Well, off to Lowe's to buy a new torx bit. Only problem is that I think the next size up is 10mm not 9mm. Very strange. Guess I will buy the 10. ARRGGHH!!!! I really wanted to get this done so I could finish shooting the oil change video I promised another member. (obviously the stipped drain plug will be edited out :D )

    Yup. However, it is not because it is too small, it is stripped (no sides for the allen to grasp).

    :censored: Well, I went to change the oil and the drain plug is STRIPPED!!! I have a new plug that I am going to replace it with but I need to find a way to remove the stripped one. Obviously the previous owner didn't take any care in using proper torque reccomendations, etc. If I can just get it off I have a shiny new oil drain plug waiting to be used. Any ideas???

    That's quite high. Should be in the $800 range.
