  1. my fog lights and low beams work just not the Xenon. at night when i turn on the headlights my driver side xenon turns on but the passenger side has only low beam and fog light on so it looks like my car is winking. Any suggestions on where i can find a bulb for cheap? thanks for the reply

    I recommend swapping the L/R bulbs ( should only take 10 minutes ) to be sure that the bulb is the problem. I found by swapping components that I needed a new Litronic controller/transformer ( gray aluminum box on the rear of the lamp unit ). Bad news for me was that it turned out to be a $700 part :( . I bought an entire cracked headlight on ebay and saved the rest as spare parts. my01 tip.

I have lately become bothered by a repetitive, almost rhythmic clicking/ticking noise from the area over the passenger side's shoulder.  It's not a rattle or a buzzing, but a click- click- click.  Not loud but definitely noticeable.  The car's top has been up since it is dirty, but I moved the top up and down- no problem.  Ticking continues with the passenger window in any position, doors locked or unlocked, and so far, only when the vehicle is in motion and not always at that.  I have moved the passenger seat in different locations, so I don't think it's the passenger seat.  It sounds like it's coming from over the passenger's shoulder, but the top's hoops seem taut and the rollhoop windblockers are securely in place.  I'm not sure how to proceed... I have also examined the trim behind the seats and around the roll bar.  Passenger side is a close match to driver's side, but the clicking noise is only from the passenger side.  As you can tell, it's driving me nuts.  Please help.  How'd you get rid of the click-click-click-click...

    I have had the same sort of sound your describing coming from over my left driver shoulder for a couple of months. I've felt all around the roll hoops and wind blocker and can't locate its source. It seams most noticeable at the start of a drive at low speeds. (MY2000)

    I've been "lurking" on this site for some time and have been helped immensely with my new to me last spring MY00 Boxster. Thanks to everyone and especially of coarse Tool Pants for all your posts. :cheers:

    While investigating behind my RF wheel well liner I found a hose that appears to run from a box near the front of the wheel opening to the R side of the fuel filling compartment. It looks like maybe a fuel vapor recovery hose about 1/2 " inside diameter. There is a corresponding hole leading to the fuel door compartment but I can not see how this hose can attach. My guess is that it was removed when a repair was made to the RF rad and not properly re-installed.

  4. I have noticed sometimes in Manual mode (only),  I notice when rolling to a stop and shifting from 2nd to 1st I get a Jerk or shudder going in to the lowest gear. The normal method when starting in manual mode, the transmission automatically go's into 1st gear all other subsiquent stops the transmission downs shifts to 2nd when rolling to stop's. Sort of off topic but relivent to tiptronic.

    I get exactly the same with mine. I try to always come to a stop before downshifting manually to 1st.

    Same with the 986 tip.
