  1. This is just my story.

Bought some spacers from a shop (Sports Car Boutique) referred by a friend because they have it in stock. Took them home and then took them to another Shop (Engineered Automotive) to have them install and perform an alignment and an oil change before i take my car to the track just to be safe.

dropped my car off there in the morning on my way to work, in the afternoon they called back or something saying that they took two hours trying to align the car with the spacers and it won't align. they said they can't put the spacers in and said the spacers don't fit.

after i got the message, i told them to align the car and just give me back the spacers so i can take them back to Sports Car Boutique and maybe there is a mixup there.

got the bill from EA charging me for oil change, alignment and 2hrs of labour Attempting to fit the spacers.

the next day i took the spacers back to Sports Car Boutique and see if they gave me the wrong spacers, they checked and it's the right ones, they took the car in for 10 minutes, washed the wheels and placed the spacers. no problem at all, no alignment issues and they didn't even charge me.

so i went back to Engineered Automotive, and see what's going on they said they need to talk to their manager. I told them if i gave them something that's not right then i won't mind paying those 2 hrs of labour but the spacers are the correct ones, and it took the other shop less than 10 minutes to install them something must be wrong there..... i demanded a refund of the 2 hrs labour only, i didn't even ask for a refund of the alignment.

Engineered Automotive called Sports Car Boutique and verified that they only took less than 10 minutes to install the same spacers and i didn't make this all up. then their response after dragging this issue for more than a month is that it's still not their problem of ATTEMPTING for 2 hrs trying to fit a brand new spacers, and they did nothing wrong.

$200 is not a lot of money but it's a matter of business, if it's my fault and given them wrong spacers then ok but charging me 2 hrs of labour and making me run around so many times and said they did nothing wrong.

  3. I recently purchase a 2005 Porsche Boxster S 987. At present the PASM, SPORT and Rear Spoiler Buttons will not illuminate nor do they work. I have checked out all fuses in the passenger foot well. All appears normal. No error messages being displayed in the dash unless i remove the C9 Fuse.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

did you find out what's the problem and how to fix it?

my car wont start and the trip computer say psm fail, abs fail, and oil measurement fails.. after i play around with the fuse..

  4. I am storing my car, so i try to use the pump that came with the car to pump up the tires as stated in the owner's manual.

but after just clicking the on off button, it blew the fuse. (found out after plugging the pump in my other car) so i opened the fuse box and looked at the fuse map and unplug that blown fuse.....then went out to the porsche dealer and ask the service rep....he said just use the reserve....

i then went back to the storage the next day in a different car.... forgot the fuse map .... so i just unplug another fuse from another position and use the pump first then replace the fuse in the original position....

now the car won't start.... it will light up and all the stuff.... but when i turn the key .... nothing happens and it says psm fail, abs fail, oil measurement fail.......

now i don't know what to do... :o

what does the road side service do?

    thanks

  5. I know many pple have this problem of broken interior A/C heat vent (the part that allows the change in direction of the air) especially the 2005 model year

i had two of mine broken, and brought the car back to the dealer and they changed it for me but i found out that they must have left a small piece of the broken plastic inside the ducts... cuz when i turn on the a/c max button then i hear this rattling sound (sounds like a piece of small plastic flip floping around the passenger footwell) is there a way to open the ducts near the passenger footwell ( like a low point in the plumbers pipes ) to allow me to take out that plastic so i don't have to bring it back to the dealer again...

    thanks

  6. Ya i didn't do anything other than popping out the housing and connecting it to the bulb connector of the H7....didn't do any modification, no wire cutting and no connection to the battery....

and the kit has like ballast thing and the bulb ... i saw some other kit that has another part called the ignitor... but this kit the guy said it works for all european car....

i was doubtful at first but the deal is good... it cost 1880 Hong kong dollar which is about 244USD and it's all made in Japan

Ya a bit more expensive then some, but if you can save the hassle of any extra wiring, not to mention the OBC errors then it is likely worth it.

    Wheredid you order it from?

    Thanks

that stores sell some taiwanese and made in china brand at a lower price but i decided to go with the japanese since the owner said it should not bring up any error message.

I got it on my trip to hong kong

  8. I bought a US boxster and imported into canada, with DRL made by the dealer.

I then bought a BeamBoy HID from HK and installed it, no warning. only think i noticed is a very slight flicker, and only if i look at the light for a long time...no problem at the beam it produces...

i believe mine is a digital kit cuz i don't see the ignitor... only a ballast and wires

but it seems to work great and no warning light

and it's on all the time because it is also the DRL

Hmmmm, the all important question; what year of Boxster?

    2005 boxster S

  10. I ordered the front plate mount because it is req by law for me to put a front plate on the car

the kit comes with 6 screws ( 2 short and 4 long ones) i dont think they gave me the right screws because none of them will hold the plates to the mount because the upper holes on the mount is bigger than the bottom holes.

can anyone tell me what screws they have on their front plate mounts?

    Thanks

  11. I posted this in the link also

i bought the windstop kit and it has arrived. in the kit i found the following 4 rivets, and 8 plastic things. see attached picture, i also bought a riveter but has never used one before

there are two rivets that have dark grey stems and no knob at the end (left on the picture) and two silver rivets with silver stems and knobs at the end (middle of the picture) and 8 plastic things (right on the picture)

can anyone tell me which rivets goes on the roll hoops and which rivets go on the middle padding and what are the black plastic things for??

  12. I bought the windstop kit and the riveter to install it myself, but i am not sure which rivet to use to for the attachment on the roll hoops and which rivets to use for the middle padding. i have attached a picture of the rivets that are in the kit. the rivets on the left have a darker stem and don't have a little knob thing on the end, the rivets in the middle in the picture has silver color stem and a knob at one end of the rivets.

in the kit i also found 8 pieces of plastic things, what are these for?

thanks everyone, just want to be clear before i start prying off the padding

  13. I just bought an 05 boxster S

and when the roof opens i noticed that one side seems to come up a bit further ahead of the other side, is this normal or is there something wrong with the motor of the slower side... will the roof still come up if one motor has problem?

and the boxster has the optional sport steering wheel, and i noticed that there is a little click when i turn the wheel from the normal 12 o'clock position to the 11 o'clock position, the click is very slight but can be felt thru the entire steering wheel and seem to be annoying at slow speed.

I will try to post some pics of the roof if it is not normal...

    Thanks again.

    DEAR SLATEGERYTERSOTTA

your car roof have two push rods on both side i thank one side is out of adjestment

    thanks abdul

I stopped the roof half way open and took a look inside and found a snapped white plastic part at the end of a metal rod, since i bought this car used and found the opening a little weird after ...and it has been already like one month since i bought it. ... i don't think i can bring it back to the used car lot.... but this car is still under factory warranty, ...is this covered under warrenty?

    3. Rivet the centre bracket to the inside of the centre roll-bar padding, using the closed-off rivets. There should be holes pre-drilled into the padding. Don't spend hours trying to drill holes into the roll-bar like I did.

Willga or anyone who has done this before,

is that how the rivets supposed to look after you put the clip onto the center padding? and what is that long screw on the lower left of the picture? is that what's holding the padding to the roll bar? or can the center padding be removed like the roll hoop padding (prying it apart)

    Thanks

  15. I currently dont have a windstop and my wife complains that her hair gets messy after a drive in the car, i am planning to install the kit myself or have the dealer install a kit for me... do you know is it hard to do DIY and if so...how many hours of labour to expect from the porsche dealer?
