  1. Has anyone ever combined a performance spring like an H&R with the standard non M030 shocks on their Box? I'm trying to get a little more performance out of my suspension without throwing down 3k for a whole new set up. There's probably a spring rate not matching the shock issue. I'm up for sugestions

  2. The little velcro patches need to match up with 4 plastic 'hook' disks mounted into the rug. These disks are about 3" in diameter with a plastic screw underneath. Just screw them into the rug in an area underneath the velcro disks on your mats. With this setup you won't have any more problems.

Oh, that makes sense. I guess those never were placed in the car. I'll have to order some from my dealer. Thanks.

  3. Thanks for the info. I have been checking out the Boxter racing board but I try not to be to pesky and ask a ton of questions all at once. I have a tendency to be an info vampire.

KevinC: I was quoted $2500+ for the 030 package at my dealer. Yikes. I had bilstiens on my Miata and really liked them.

What is an acceptable wheel weight for A 17" Porsche wheel? The 16" Rotas I was running on my Miata were a scant 14lbs. And that was a little heavy as far as Miata wheels go.

  4. Are you mats not locked down with either the velcro patches or the straps to the seat mounting bolts (depends on the year)?

I have the little velcro patches on the bottom but they don't stick to the carpet at all. The factory matts are just kind of...floppy looking if you ask me. I really hate floor matts anyway but I guess they are a necessary evil. I would like some crisp low profile looking matts that fit if they exist.

  5. I have a '98 2.5 that I am setting up for autocross. I'm planning on running in BS but may change classes if there is no competition. It does not have the factory sport suspension. I am thinking about having my dealer install the factory sport suspention bits but would go after market if I could save some money. Any suggestions? Also I am looking for some affordable light wieght wheels. I must stay ahead of the pesky S2000s.

  6. In central Oregon we had one of our worst winters in ages last season. I drove my A4 shod with Bridgestone Blizzaks in every type of snowy road conditions you could imagion. The tires performed very well in all conditions. My Audi's ESP rarely had to take over. However, in deep slush they felt lateraly floaty at speed if that makes any sense. Hopefully no one will have to drive there Boxter in three inches of slush over frozen roads :drive: They seemed a little numb and squishy on the dry pavement and get tore up easily with spirited driving but what do you want out of a snow tire. I would purchase them again.

I would be curious to know if anyone here drives a Boxter without traction control in the winter. I'm debating wether to leave mine in the garage or venture out in the snow.

  7. Toolpants - Glued in?! Yikes! Hmmmm, stick is sounding better. Is there a aluminum OEM part I can just replace them with?

jinijazz - I dig the chrome as well. I've seen aftermarket stick on chrome rings somewhere. Maybe Pelican Parts? I thought that aluminum would tie in better though with the pseudo aluminum looking shift knob and e brake lever my car has from the factory.

  8. Hello, good people. New (to me) '98 Boxter owner here. I'm looking to dress up my interior a little. Tastefully I hope. I like the classic look of silver gage rings but it seems wrong to stick anything to the dash with double sided tape like most of the gage ring offerings I've seen. I'm thinking about poping the gage rings off and airbrushing them aluminum color. Anyone here ever do that or know proceedure for removing the gage rings? Or is painting the plastic too sketchy?

    Sid
