  1. My passenger side door glass stopped working when the dealer had it in for service and I didn't notice until the next day. We are waiting for a part to come in so haven't taken it back but if there is an easy fix I can do in the meantime that would be terrific. I know some cars have a reset procedure, I tried the key dance in the tips section and that didn't work. Doesn't seem to be a fuse either tho almost none of my fuses in the panel actually match what's listed on the cover diagram. There is no movement, it's not stuck or grinding, just does nothing, like no signal or power is present. Thank you and wishing the rest of you a trouble free Sunday!

  2. Hi guys, I happened across an aftermarket aluminum (or maybe stainless) front underbody panel to replace the black plastic one on my '04 S. It sits below the bumper and fills most of the front width. I failed to bookmark the website and now I am having the hardest time finding the part again. I've searched using terms such as Cayenne: bash plate, chassis guard, underbody cover, etc. with no luck. Can somebody help spare my sanity? :)

  3. Dealer today indicated it was the amplifier, no explanation for the smell/smoke.

I have a couple of questions, the service manager who aided me was very helpful but told me Porsche would not perform a courtesy repair for a TSB issue unless it's within a year of warranty and only to the original owner.

His suggestion was to replace with factory amp (I've read some people have had to have theirs replaced multiple times) or to replace entire system with aftermarket. Lots of decisions to make.

Finally, when I got the car back the front passenger window isn't operating at all, child lock isn't on and it doesn't work from driver or passenger switches. Is it possible that disconnecting the battery at dealer could have caused it to stop, maybe needs reset to work again?

I checked the fuses and another problem seems evident now, the amp rating of the fuses marked in the manual don't match the fuses actually in use in the panel I checked. Does this mean someone haphazardly replaced with whatever fuses they had available or is there another explanation?

  4. I searched topics and while this seems similar to some other folk's amp issues, it doesn't quite make a match...

I started the '04 Cayenne S today and I first noted a strange "ticking" evident in the front door speakers only, not in any others. In order to hear better to try and figure out what was causing the sound I turned the heated off and just then I smelled an "electrical short" smell, never good. I noticed what I'm pretty sure was a faint wisp of smoke coming from the climate control panel area. I had only traveled a couple of blocks so returned to the driveway and turned the car off promptly. The ticking sound continued in the front speakers only, even with the car shut off. After about 5-mins it stopped on it's own.

It's a constant "click-click-click" that didn't really change frequency or volume.

I didn't start the car but turned it back to accessory and the ticking started again so I shut it off again. No further smells or smoke thankfully.

Two days prior I was driving at night and my stereo lights all flickered on and off a few times, but no other lights did, they all remained on as normal. Possibly related, I have no idea.

My car does not have Navigation, just the basic setup, and I have had no aftermarket sound or other work done.

It's going to be dropped at the dealer but has anyone had this set of symptoms before?

  5. It is really weired, nobody seems to have try locking the differentil.

Not sure if I'm understanding your inquiry correctly but I can also only engage the low ratio and lock the diff (illuminating ONLY the top two lights on the selector) as the third, lower, light comes on once to go back to the high ratio. I didn't notice a conflicting statement in the manual but the way it's working makes sense to me because you can;t have a high and low ratio at the same time.

  6. I have a 2004 Cayenne S that just started making a grinding sound coming from the passenger side rear wheel that is most evident at lower speeds. It sounds just like worn pads but it is not as I have confirmed they have lots of life remaining. It also only makes the sound when I am turning left, possibly because the vehicle's weight is being shifted to that wheel. I did a quick check and the rotor doesn't seem to have any nicks, gouges or other indicators of the cause. Could it be suspension related or the brake shroud contacting on the back side? I appreciate any advice you can offer.

  7. I bought the Porsche rear mat and felt it was too much like hard plastic without nonskid. Thus, stuff still slide around in the back. I returned it and bought the Weathertech rear mats. Much better, nonskid and more rubbery. Highly recommend it. I have the Porsche floor mats for the driver/passenger cabin. Very thick rubber. Highly recommend it as well.

Do you know who makes the Porsche factory mat, Weathertech or Husky maybe? I have the weathertech in other cars and love it but was curious about comparisons to Husky if anyone has that brand cargo liner. Specifically, is it hard and things slide like the factory mat? Thanks!

  8. I just did this over the weekend on a black 2004 Cayenne S. Wow, what a difference!!! I really love the new look. I also have to give props to www.bumperplugs.com I ordered the markers on Wed, he emailed me immediately asking what generation the truck was and the parts showed up on Friday. Actual Porsche parts all packaged up and perfect. (I am in no way affiliated with them other then giving them money and in return being a very happy customer) The install was difficult until I bit the bullet and just unscrewed all the fasteners and pulled out the inner liner. After that it was a breeze. I would offer that unfastening all the screws is a really good idea. My wife has an ML430 that I tried to wrestle with the liners on and ended up actually bending some sheet metal so the extra few minutes it takes to do it right could save a huge headache by not subjecting yourself to bending the precious Porsche fenders :)

I was looking on ebay for these clear markers when I read your post. I liked the idea that they were unquestionably authentic Porsche from bumperplugs.com so I ordered them just before the Independence Day weekend and they were shipped promptly after. I did get a reply message over the weekend to a question I had, which I didn't expect. Same as DSP, no affiliation with these guys, but just confirming that they do seem to be very focused on customer satisfaction and I felt a recommendation was in order.

  9. thanks, but I was refering to Cayenne key fob.

I'm guessing it has a similar internal board, but with more buttons. They're all made to be opened to change the batteries, so why not open it up and find out?

Having a look at my fob I can see that opening the blade first allows easier removal of the battery cover. From there it doesn't really seem to have any easy way to open it up. It is probably held together using friction clips, basically a little lip that snaps in place when closed. May I suggest that you first locate the replacement fob and since yours is already in bad shape try prying with a very thin headed flat screwdriver or maybe even a watch case knife (very thin blade made for prying). With the battery cover off you can see what may be the leading edge of one of those clips where the red panic button section meets, and another place that looks more promising on the open channel where the blade lays when closed there's a small line up above the printed word "Germany". Once you get it apart you can put it back together (with the guts removed) and practice with it a couple of times before attempting the procedure on the new one to learn the best method and help avoid damage.

I would advise against prying anywhere near the green circuit board where the batter came out so you don't damage the works you're trying to save. If all else fails at least you've got a new undamaged fob you can have programmed and switch out your blade.

  10. 2008 model year is a facelift, so probably nothing significant for the next several years. New engines (direct ignition) and new headlights. I'm very pleasantly surprised at the mileage I've been getting with my '08 S - upwards of 20 MPG on the highway per the OBC on a few occasions. Window sticker says only 19 on the highway. I don't think the earlier V8s did as well

Mine does just over 19 cruising at 70 - 75 mph. If I slow down to 60 - 65, it goes over 20. This is all according to the OBC also - I haven't bothered to work it out myself. I may try that on my next trip.

Online reports I've seen suggest a "new" Cayenne for 2010 (with possible release as a 2011 model). Just search "Porsche Cayenne 2010" and you will see some images that are referred to as "spy photos" but are more likely computer aided mock-ups based on available info. If the pics are accurate, it really seems more of an evolutionary step to me so if you have an itch I don't think it's necessarily worth waiting for, just get a current model on 2-year lease and trade in when the new ones arrive.

  11. The service reminder will shown only when you turned on the engine and it goes off after while. it's normal.

The CDS T09, isn't that indicating the sound track you are listening? CDS T09 (CD Single, Track 09)

Thanks, that sounds likely with the CD player, I thought it would end up being something that should have been obvious to me.

So the fact that the display reads "service now" and engine icon is lighted only when it's on accessory mode, is that likely something more serious or what's your best guess? I thought it was just the vehicle illuminating all warning lights as most cars do, but everything else goes off except for those two, until I start it.

  12. Uhm that button isn't supposed to open anything. Its not like the button on the remote where you hold it down and pops open the glass. The button only unlocks the rear glass, you still have to walk to the rear and open it from there. The whole existence of that button doesn't make much sense.

I was having the exact same symptoms as the thread starter, and I just went out and played around with the functions and the rear lid switch unlocked the glass panel when the doors were locked and key in the ignition, tho not running. Just some added info.

  13. I just bought a 2004 Cayenne S and it's at 39,400 miles currently and I have the "Service Now" text showing on the central display and the engine icon is illuminated. These only come on when the key is turned to accessory and goes off when it's running, is that normal or should it remain on? I am assuming/hoping is just telling me it's due for the next oil change but I read there's an indicator in miles so maybe I'm just overdue?

Also in the central display is showing "CDS T 09" and it has also shoan the last two numbers as 02 and 03. What does this mean? I scoured the manual for info but cannot find any and it's really got me perplexed.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
