  1. I need some help from my fellow 911 Brothers. We just purschaed our 01 996. We love the car, except for the amount of brake dust the OEM pads produce.

Our 83 928 has OEM pads and they do not produce any dust compaired to the Pads on the 911.

I am looking for feed back on the best Street pads. Looking for low Dust Pads. Looking at Mintex Brake Pads

    Thank you

    Jeff

+1 on mintex just installed last week....GREAT price ....frm pelican

  2. Agreed .. Plenum is a good one. I have never had a problem with a K&N filter either. But I believe this poster is considering the K&N "Cold air kit" which has been known to cause some people problems. It also requires drilling some holes in the car..

I figured but I should have been more specific. I installed my K&N cold air intake system three years ago. I have replaced my MAFS since then but I'm confident the failure was the result of age and not the filter element oil. I saw no residue on the element but it was definitely bad.

actually there are many folks out there with ruined mafs after K&N intake (including myself) luckily my CEL went of after 50 miles of K&N and i immediatly cleaned the maf and replaced the filter with AEM filter 500 miles later no CEL......... :D

  3. I've got an 02 C2 cab too and would like to upgrade the suspension. My last Porsche was a Boxster and it cornered like it was on rails. There's alot I love about my 911, but it tends to push the front tires and generally feels less settled when you drive it hard thru corners. From what I've been reading, lowing and upgrading the shocks and sway bars will significantly improve the cars balance. I'd like to improve the handling without making it too harsh. sounds like the two Porsche options are pretty good as well as the bilsteins. Does anyone know about the HR's. Also, would like to know opinions on swaybars to go with the bilsteins and or HR's. My experience is performance upgrades are all about the combination. Thanks

i currently run h/r with bilsteins hd and h/r sways ...to me perfect street setup not the best pic with cell

  4. Ok, thanks, I had tried searching, but wasn't searching for the right thing. So now I've read about the factory adjuster...and I guess what I'm hearing, is that the only thing to do is to find a stock shifter, reinstall it, use the factory adjustment tool, then reinstall the Schnell?

    *sigh*

    Shawn

i have a ssk and no problems however i also installed the schnell linkage.....my suggestion is to dissasemble and look...

  5. thank's man, could you please advice the cost for rear fenders, you buy it new or from dismantlers,i am really look into this conversion

since anyway it involves some cutting and welding i also consider the width of c4s or turbo 997 but i preffer turbo fenders also for the look of the ducts

    ur front pic car rocks....

thank's it's the techart who do the job

here's one to see where i have finnaly put the number plate

but i also want the bigger width for the rear

so what about the fender's cost?

sorry no price on rear fenders i got the car with those

  6. Nice job. Of course, the part I wanted to know the most about was how you put the turbo air ducts on the rear quarters, but I guess that was already done. Had somebody else already started a conversion and abandoned it?

    nice ride man

i'm interested to put the rear fenders too,996 or 997 turbo so can you give the info if your rear fenders are originally 996,or they are oem turbo's and converted for taillights?

i have look the pic's and can tell precise, but the rear wheel look's pretty "inside" to me and i guess it might have the turbo width, wich i want it too

    here u go........... http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-...-now-i-see.html

  7. Does anyone know of someone who does the 3.4 to the 3.6 (996)engine conversion in the So Cal area?

I need a new engine for my 2000 996 cab and the 3.6 from Porsche is $2,500 cheaper than the 3.4 ($11,010) (go figure.) The 3.6 with the X-51 package is $1500 cheaper than the 3.4. What the heck is up with that?

If I was going to replace the engine thought it might be worth looking into the conversion. I know this involves reprogramming the DME and some other issues.

If anyone can refer a shop to me in my area I would appreciate it.

    Thank you,

    Phillip

cheaper to buy a turbo on ebay right now.....35-45k

  8. deckman -- I would replace just the ignition switch as a DIY for now (you can buy the part from either a VW or Audi dealer, or online for much cheaper at a few days wait). It isn't nearly as complicated as replacing the entire assembly. Then if/when it fails again, you can order the ignition switch assembly online for cheaper and plan for the time to replace the entire assembly. Hopefully, the new switch alone will cure your problem and last for a few years.

i just bought ignition swith on ebay 20.00 shipping included....make sure it is either the new or old versiion
