  1. Philip - usually its the entire F1 track but even the inner track is not bad (i'd rather go for the F1 track though). http://www.bahraingp.com/en/circuits/grandprixtrack I am worried about the rubber damage to the front of the car and will be looking at options to protect it today. maybe leave some wax on it?? or use cheap window tenting film? Paul - I never knew about this but I shall ask afterwords (will have to go change breaks). marc - what do you mean dont lift? Thank you all for the advice!
  2. Friends, I'm taking my car to the track this Friday for the first time :D Did all necessary 'race' checks at dealer (changed break fluid and coolant pump (they found some leak there and was changed under warranty)). Now I'm all set and waiting B) Any advice? tips? how to operate the sport chrono timer? are very much appreciated! I will post pics after the event  Thanks, Hamad
  3. Noor, I have to say I am not sure, however, in my case the noise/engine light came on screen two or three times a day when I had the IMS. there was lots of smoke on start-up as well. I remember the first thing the garage did when I took the car there (before stripping down the engine) was checking spark plugs, wiring harness, and coil. So you might be right and its not as serious. Best thing to do is to take it to dealer. keep us posted, H
  4. I am not a mechanic and not sure if your issue is similar to the one I had in the past, but last time I heard a weird noise on star-up and got check engine light (on my 05 C2C) it was the infamous IMS! However, since you have the extended warranty you should not worry :D In fact, you should hope that it is the IMS issue cause you will be getting a brand new engine! :clapping: Bottom line; don't worry if you have the warranty just do what it says (take it to the workshop). Goodluck and maybe someone else with mechanical experience can help you more. H
  5. Hi paul, thanks for diagram but need diagram from 997-1 and 997-2 and hopefully some instructions on what to cut and what to join, surely somebody else must have done this conversion, i hope so regards Tim Hi guys just a quick note to say i have finished my front end conversion to gen2 and it looks awsome. as my car is a 4s the front grilles(997 505 563/4 05 9b1) are titanium and this looks really good against basalt black. A mechanic from an OPC converted my loom for me and charged £250 ($410), it took him about 20 minutes to do, when you turn ignition on the front leds come on, then when you turn lights on they dim , however if you want them really bright again just put on the foglight switch. only problems i had were the headlight washer units (997 628 163 01)are different on a gen2 and the mk1's cant be retro fitted, and also the centre duct surround (997 505 541 03 01c) also needs an additional air deflector to deflect the air to your rads, porsche part is called air routing (997 575 141 04 1c), even the dealer didnt know i had to have this, all in all well worth the hassle, car is going in next week for the rears to be done which as you guys know is really straightforward, well at long last its done , see attatched foto. Regards 997t very cool! any warranty issues?
  6. Phillip, The TPMS must be installed prior to mount and balance. However, they may not fit your new rims, it all depends on the wheel profile. The wheel manufacturer or installer should know if they will work. So, in answer to your question, you will have to re-mount and balance the wheels and tires if they do fit. Attached is a picture of a sensor. R/ GW Can I install this on my car? I mean does it require special wiring or is it just this 'sensor' being installed? Thanks H
  7. Clear side markers...check. All red tail lights...check. Now all you need is to tint the windows! IMHO that will finish the job. Congrats. :clapping: Black rims now
  8. I did! huge difference in terms of performance (especially the S with sports package). you will hate the non S (and yourself maybe) if you drive an S with sports mode on! :)
  9. From what I gathered from this post, the Michelin PS2 are the best? I Just got a quote for my C2S (235 front, 295 rear). around $1600 for a set of PS2's . Is this fair price? I've had similar tyres on my car since I bought it and they've been very reliable. I live in a very worm place during summer (50c almost) and I'm thinking of tracking the car one or two times a year. I would appreciate your advice on alternatives if any
  10. does it fit though? are there any technical issues (e.g. wiring)?
  11. Will post pictures this weekend :D We agonized with you. We gave you good advice. We gave you bad advice. We stood stoic in the maternity ward for the birth of your new black baby. Oooops..not politically correct. All we asked for was pictures. What did we get? Nothing! LOL I agree!
  12. Thanks for this Paul! its a bit too late as I ordered the parts already :( I'm looking at the bright side though, as you said I will have piece if mind when the dealer install them. Many thanks for your advice though! Do you know how much is the PSE at sunset? Hamad
  13. Since I bought the car and these two parts were damaged. it not noticeable but it annoying me and I like my car (as we all do) to be perfect! So I decided I'm going to replace them. The AC control switch doesnt come by it self (its attached to all other keys in the control board!) and the cup holders are also both one part. Anyway I found both parts new and agreed with my dealer that they will replace it for me (I'm not a big DIY person and wouldnt risk playing with it) for around $530. is this reasonable? any advice? I'm getting it done this weekend and will post pics afterward :D
  14. Thanks for this. I didnt get an invoice when getting the car back! but will check when i next go to dealer. Glad to hear your enjoying it and do go the dealer if you dont like the noise you're hearing. I didnt get this with my new engine...
  15. Sam - hows the car after the new engine? where can I find this number?
  16. That sucks! sorry to hear that Sam. Its another reason why Porsche warranty is needed because it also has the towing service. Congrats on the new engine. all of the hassle will fade and you will forget all of this when you drive your car afterwords. H
  17. I changed my clutch at the same time too. I saved on labor, so it is worth checking. I got mine from the dealer though not online. sorry cant advice Thanks, Hamad
  18. Enjoy Phillip! :D I agree with the black color comment. I recommend the indoor cover. I am using this for mine now and it keeps it clean for my weekend drives. Posts pics when you have them. Loren - Thanks for the clarification Best Hamad
  19. Good point! I don’t have the Sport exhaust. that might be the next project or maybe something else to increase performance.... hmmmm
  20. very nice!! Congrats :D very light touchs: clear side signals, all red rear lights and it should look like this :D oh and light tint ;)
  21. Tekky, I think I should say congratulations on the new engine and two years warranty! As Philip said try to negotiate the labor charges with the dealer. As you are aware, in my case, I paid for the pre-owned warranty and they covered labor but this was the dealers choice. Try to get them to take out the charges for striping the old engine as they would've had to do it anyway to install a new engine. And you should consider the rest to be a major service charges plus payment for a 2 years warranty :D Try your best but this is a good deal.. you will notice the difference in performance and you will have peace of mind. Good luck Hamad
  22. Yes they are available for both years. the busy ones are called Porsche sports wheels. I think these ones are standard Carrera wheels
