  1. I am looking to replace the standard brake lines on my 99 Boxster with SS DOT approved ones. I am not having much luck finding some here in the USA for a good price. I have found some on pelicanparts but not really anywhere else. Can any of you recommend a place to me? thanks in advance.
  2. Yeah been there and done that. I think something in the lock is broken. <edit> Found it to be a broken steering lock switch. Thanks to Loren's info on this site. I was saved. I ordered a new one from www.autohausaz.com for 16$. Should have the car back on the road in a day or so. Thanks again.
  3. How on earth do I get this thing out and then does anyone have an idea of what might be broken? Thanks in advance.
  4. I have a 99 boxster that on the passenger side the top will not seal all the way and I get lots of wind noise and such from that side. I have tried adjusting the cable mounts but that does not seem to effect the gap. this gap is right on the curve on near the engine. Any help would be great thanks.
  5. Well after all the trouble I had with my 99 Boxster. I have now replaced the 2 before cat O2 sensors. Now when I start the car it idles fine and once the engine is warmed up the car drives just fine. But if I try to drive it cold the car misfires and runs with almost no power and it throws the P1117 code no CEL thou. Now while the car is cold it should be in it's closed loop section of the fuel mapping so even if the O2's are bad it should still run okay till then. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  6. well the problem is still there. I am either going to replace all 4 O2's or take it to the dealer for them to take a look at it. Either that or maybe I will sell it.
  7. Well yesterday after changing the oil, Spark plugs and air filter. I decided to see if it might be the O2 sensors that were leading to my misfire. so I took the before cat O2 and switched it with the after cat O2 which on a 99 are the same kind. And the stopped the misfires on 1-3 cylinders but now 4-6 has the same error codes  so I decided to call it a night  and come back to it later. I have a small questions cylinders 1-3 are on the drivers side of the car right? Just to make sure that I am not losing my mind. TIA
  8. I just replaced the spark plugs on the car today to be able to rule them ot as a problem and the wires seem fine. as for the intake do you mean the Black plastic part that says Porsche on it? Also where might it be leaking from it seems rather hard for that to leak. as for the bad sensor that seems to be a Dealer thing as I'd rather have them fight with it then me. Thanks for the help
  9. Well then misfire codes are still there P0300 ,P0301,P0302,P0303. Does ayone have any idea what this could be before I have to give in and go to the dealer? TIA
  10. I have seen no leaking but you never know if it is small. Today I am replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs and air filter and changing the oil. IE a very large hammer to kill a fly.
  11. LVDell The thud seems to be the misfire. but it has not done it since. I have parked the car. and later to day I am going to jack it up and schange oil, spark plugs, fuel filter and air filter as well as looking for leaks. BTW what is the best way to look for leaks? TIA
  12. Loren, Thanks for the advise. Here is more info for the story And the Plot thickens. Today right after startup driving up hill I hear to loud thuds behind me and the CEL starts flashing sad.gif. So I turn around and coast into my driveway. Hook up the code scanner and find codes P0300 P0301 P0302 P0303. Telling me that there is a misfire in the cylinders 1-3. so to see if this keeps up I cleared the codes and restarted the car with no noticable misfires everything seems fine now. Any ideas what on earth could cause this? Thanks in advance.
  13. I think I posted this in the wrong forum before Well after a replacement MAF was installed 50 miles went by and the CEL came on again. This time the code that was there was P1128 I have read that this might be a bad oil filler seal. I checked the seal and it seemed fine. What all should I check? Thanks in advance. Also the oil filler seal advise is what I found from Loren on this site :) And the Plot thickens. Today right after startup driving up hill I hear to loud thuds behind me and the CEL starts flashing :(. So I turn around and coast into my driveway. 15. My car a 99 Boxster has a strange idle when coming off the gas. it dips down to 300-400rpm and then comes up to normal idle. It does not do this all the time but it seems to do it more than it should does anyone else have this same kind of issue? Is this a normal Boxster thing? Thanks
  16. I know that Porsche beefed up the Boxster S and 2000 or later to handle 18" wheel properly. What can be done to a 99 Boxster to enable it to handle 18" wheels? Thanks in advance.
  17. 150 for a shift knob??!!?? I want a shift knob not a the entire shift tower. Please tell me that. that price is for more than just the shift knob. Thanks
  18. I have two questions about my 1999 Boxster. 1. Can a post 2000 shift knob fit on my 99? 2. Does anyone besides the dealer sell shift knobs for Boxsters? Thanks in advance.
  19. I had the code read by a mechanic friend of mine who said the MAF was bad. Also during testing. you can watch the read for flow of air in in the engine measured in g/s even while pressing the accelerator this value never moved which indicates that the MAF is not measuring anything and the car is working off of a set value.
  20. well today I cleaned the MAF and disconnected the battery the light went out but then after about 10 miles of driving the light came back on so my guess is that the MAF is bad. :(
  21. Well I just got it checked it seems that the MAF is getting a low voltage signal and that is what is setting off the light. So I think that the MAF is going bad and I am going to get a new one :(.
  22. free of charge! Now that is a really cool service. I am going to a friend of mine's shop to have him read the codes for me and see what they are. It is good to have friends that work at Euro car shops.
  23. Today on the way to lunch in my 99 Boxster 35K miles. The check engine light came on and the engine seems to run rough at low RPM. I have checked the gas cap and it is on tight. Any ideas as to what would cause this? Thanks Joel
