  1. gfriffin56, I know what you mean, but the 2 pictures were not taken under the same lighting. The AFTER picture does look a bit flash, Believe me, there's no comparison, it is the same part, Eric just does a multi-step process on them and they come out looking awesome. He just repaints them. Alex
  2. etwd, thanks for inspiring me guy. As soon as I saw yours I ordered some for myself. They even come polished and buffed! Alex
  3. Got my new painted bumperettes from Eric @ bumperplugs.com: A bargain at any price and so easy to R/R.
  4. An excellent video of the new 911 (UK version): http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/081224/73/227hn.html
  5. The blinking side markers mod. There is a splice done at the plug. For the time being I used a 3M splice connector but I'm not sure if it is waterproof:
  6. Maurice, thank you for your tips. It seems that the tubing needs only about 200° to shrink and most heat guns put out a lot more heat (250°-1000°) than needed. Maybe the hair dryer idea would work out better. I don't want to ruin the paint... Alex
  7. Thanks 1999 and Foster. Yeah, I've seen bad reviews of Radio Shack's heat shrink tubing that's why I wanted to hear what people are happy with.
  8. Guys, I could use your recommendations: • What tool you guys use to shrink 'heat-shrink' tubing? • Is all tubing created equal or is there a brand you would especially recommend? • Do I have to solder the wires first or just twist them if I'm using heat-shrink? Thanks, Alex
  9. Page 206 PDF manual: Tightening torque= 130 Nm. Page 208 shows the jacking points. Should be the same pages on the paper manual. It's a good idea to check ALL your lug nuts for proper torque. If you should have a puncture you may not be able to loosen the nuts with the wrench at all. You can even carry the torque wrench in the trunk since the stock wrench is never very good anyway. Alex
  10. Great pictures of your car Looks very sharp. RE car cleaning/waxing products there is a good thread on that too, including products for the top and the plastic window if you have one. Check it out: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...c=24205&hl= You can download a PDF owner's manual from the Documents section. It's much easier than leafing through the paper one: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...&showcat=15 Alex
  11. Drem, I like Sunset too and have ordered from them often. THe problem is waiting a whole week to get a part because of my being in Delaware. Suncoast can get things to me faster from Florida.
  12. Our 'search' feature works wonders, for example I just put in: +strut +replace and found this thread: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...=strut++replace So, does Winner Newark service your Porsche?
  13. Congrats on your new ride! I checked Suncoast Porsche and they appear to have what you need as far as a new key parts. Click here for the link to the Boxter key page. Sorry I can't help with the speaker. I'll let the experts help you with that. :welcome:
  14. Looks like the front trunk is #996 511 551 01, HOOD GAS STRUT, $28.51. FYI: Rear lid shock is 996 512 551 05, GAS SPRING, $40.28
  15. Thanks Loren as always. I do have black and white wires, it's just that they are so close together I can't make out which one is the right one. :( I guess I'll start snipping and see what happens. Alas, Sandy's original "side marker DIY" link is dead: http://wa4ekg.home.att.net/996mods/sidemarkermod.html.
  16. So guys I'm getting ready to do the 'blinking side markers' mod. I got the headlights out and as per member itzkirb I'm supposed to pick the BLACK wire with WHITE stripe (I'm on the driver's side). Of course nothing is that easy! There are 2 wires next to each other that have black and white so I'm having a hard time picking the right one, I think it's the one marked R, but before I go cutting wires I thought I'd ask for an expert opinion. Kindly see pic below and let me know: Thanks,
  17. Thanks wvicary! :( Well, I checked the relay housing slots 6 & 7 in my car and they are empty, they have no female plugs so I must assume that the relay route won't work, only the 'whiteson' hack.
  18. Maybe one of you can clarify this: I have read through the many DRL threads and have found the whiteson.org hack that many have used. The double relay 996.615.111.00 is also mentioned. Can the DRLs be activated just by adding this relay? Is the relay housing prewired for this relay? Some threads seem to imply that all one has to do is plug the DRL relay in. Thanks, Alex
  19. I see, I guess Klasse did not register the term 'all-in-one' :D Since I already seem to have about 30 products in my cupboard, I'll stick to Klasse for now. I did order the Grand Finale just now.
  20. Hiya Richard, I am ordering a bottle of the Z-8 Grand Finale™ Spray Seal, it sounds like a great product, maybe even better than Quik Detailer. A bottle of Quik Detailer came with my Meguiars Clay Kit, it is part of the process. Have you tried clay bars? They really make the finish slick, you can see on the bar all the crud it removes. I assume when you say All-in-One you are referring to Klasse. I have been using it for 20 years, so easy to use and gives such good results. Cheers, Alex
