  1. Here's an example of what I consider to about the best possible set of engine upgrades to a Boxster S:

    http://tinyurl.com/d6hqk

Andy dyno'ed his car at 251 HP at the rear wheels and estimated that represented about 291 HP at the crank.

If you want to keep the costs down, you could just upgrade the headers, intake and add a chip. That might get you close to 30 HP.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

anyone can guide me to how to pump up the boxter s hp ? , i have a yr 2000

S , is there any chip tuning or exhaust ?

    thanks

I have a 99 2.5L Boxster. Can these same mods be used in the 99? Can you expect the same improvement in hp? Anyone tried this. Heard there are MAF problems.

  2. The latest fix really isn't all that complicated, though the latest technical info calls for a different fix for the pre 00 cars than the newer cars.  Both involve new belt buckles and new connectors and connector housings.  If you have a basic knowledge of crimping and soldering and can follow instructions you can do it yourself.  Pretty much the only tool out of the ordinary you will need is an E12 torx socket, which you use to remove the seat bolts.

    Sent you a PM.

    Hi PTEC,

I also belong to the legions of pre-00 Boxster owners with the airbag light problem. Local repair shop cleared it once but it reappeared after only 3 days. They are willing to fix it again, I just don't like the wait period to get into the shop. Appreciate if you could also send me the instructions you have.

  3. I am not sure if my 986 is better with original center cap (cap1) or 987, cayenne cap (cap2)

    Which do you prefer?

Hey Valcax - I also really like the Sport Classic II wheels with Pirelli P Zeros. I'm thinking of going with them on my 99 Boxster 2.5L, but I've read somewhere that you shouldn't put 18s on the 99 Boxster. Can you or anyone else comment on their experience with that wheel/tire combo.

  4. Hi folks,

I just obtained a low-rise lift for my garage, and I'd like to give it a work out. I posted about hosting a DIY day at my place over on PPBB (Boxster board) where I frequently hang out. ScottW on the 996 board contacted me and said why not post on Renntech too. He's got some brake pads to install on his C4S. So we might have one job confirmed...

Anyway, I'm thinking Saturday, June 18. 9am to whenever. I'll provide cheap hamburgers, cokes, hard liquor, tools, and of course the lift. You provide parts, cleaning supplies, beer, and helping hands.

    I'm in Del Mar.

Email me if interested or reply here. brettchemist@aol.com

    Brett,

I realize it's been awhile but just wondering how your DIY day went. I'm also a San Diego Boxster owner currently deployed for the war. Will be back in S.D. soon however. Do you plan another?

  5. W dead battery, you'll need to manually unlock the door. if your front hood release is electric, you'll need a spare battery w cable to connec to  the fuse box by foot well inorder to release the hood. If it's manual release (which I think a 99 is), it'd be easier.

You can then charge the battery or replace it if charging doesn't work. If you aren't handy, you can get a cig lighter charger that will charge it over a day or so. Otherwise, a decent charger for $40-50 will do.

You should look into changing fluids, inflate tires as needed. Also, give the car a good detail.

Thanks djantlive-Do you think it's necessary to change all fluids? I changed the oil prior to storing, and the coolant is said to be good for the lifetime of the car (whatever that means). Anyone recommend a good detailing shop in San Diego area?

  6. I own a 99 Boxster 2.5 which I left in a friend's garage during a 6 month deployment. Don't know if the car has been started and run periodically. If not and the battery is dead, what is the sequence of events to get the vehicle operational again? Will doors open with the key if battery is dead? Thanks.
