  1. The update to 3.0 does not come with the 08 CD set. Its also very hard to find a copy out there, if you can find one and are prepared to leave your engine running while it does it you can do it yourself. IF however you balls it up and lose power during the firmware update your unit will be toast.

I have no problem paying the dealer to do the update, if it is a legit deal. Just another $80 on top of the near 400, is starting to push into buying a Garmin portable Nav unit!

  2. This comes from the local Porsche dealer here in Northern Illinois (Chicago Area). They told my wife that they need to do a system update that will cost $80= 30 minutes before we can use the updated (assume 2008 version)Navteq discs? Huh? Is this a PCM firmware upgrade? Paying $80 to have a tech insert a CD seems odd...I probably am not getting the full version of the story here, but just curious-

    Thanks!

  3. I’m curious if anyone sticks to the recommended oil change intervals. I am old school and I find it hard to go 12k miles for the first oil change (I actually changed it at 8k) and now I have almost 14k miles on her and the manual says the next oil change is 24k. Way back when using the standard oils I did the 2,500 miles change, then when the Synthetic oil came out I finally got comfortable changing it at 5k. Now every 12k? Enlighten me please!

This is on my 2008 Cayenne Turbo.

You could join another forum that I joined a little bit ago- www.bobistheoilguy.com There are users that post there UOA's from a wide range of vehicles. The site helped steer me to better air, oil filter and suggestions for oil change intervals.
