  1. My '07 C2S is, at times, dificult to engage in 1st gear. On occasion it feels almost like the clutch has not engaged at all despite being firmly pressed to the floor. Problem is intermittent but happens, of course, at in-opportune times like at a stop light with multiple cars behind you waiting to go. No problems in any other gear. Does not seem to be any correlation between the occurrance & operating temperature or how long since 1st start of the day. Any one else experience this problem and have any remedies?

    I assume your car is under warranty. Why not let the dealer take care of it?

    My car a 2006 Carrera does same thing. I complained to dealer and service manager said this is normal. What percentage of cars does this happen to be considered normal. Should I take car to another dealer? My 1996,1999 and 2002 911 did not do this. How difficult is this to fix? Most importantly, which would be the best dealer in tristate area to take car to.

  2. Ok, got the XM installed fine and it works... mostly. About 35% of the time, I start the car and the radio is on the last station but my channel list is empty, it doesn't display the current channel info, and I cannot change stations! If I take the key out for 15-20 seconds and restart the car, all work as normal.

    Also, if I hit Main + Trip to pull up PCM versions, it has a triangle with "!" next to satellite. Dealer hooked it up to PIWIS today. It said said bad module for sat, but tech said that was fine since the Cayenne kit wasn't made for 997. Ultimate advice was "Sorry, probably software bug. Live with it."

    Any ideas?

  4. Add a poweramp which can bridge 2 high level inputs to a mono output. I used a kicker poweramp using my rear 2 apeaker lines as high level inputs. The mono output is connected to a low profile 6 inch kicker sub I bought from crutchfield.The rear factory speakers are still connected.Any decent after market stereo shop can easily do this. I made a custom enclosure between .2 and .3 cubic feet and placed behind rear seats, flush with the rear deck. It sound great. You really do not have to change out any other of the speakers. I would try that first before changing anything else out. I also added XM from Cayenne which others have done.

    Do you have the kicker amp model number and where did you tap into the speaker wires for the high-level input? Also where did you end up placing your amp?, was this in addition to the non-bose amp? Any details would be great, since this is what I want to do to my 2005 997 C2, Thanks! -Paul

    The non bose amp is left intact as it must power all speakers except the sub.The new amp can be mounted in the front trunk. You can tap into rear speakers in front trunk after speaker lines exit from the non bose poweramp. The facory rear speakers still function. They do not make my kicker amp anymore but there are many good choices. See crutchfield. I used a 6.5 inch shallow mount kicker sub I got from crutchfield for about 100 dollars. I suggest having a qualified installer doing the job, although this not that difficult.

  6. No disrespect meant.... I have not found the search function to work that well. It seems to pull up many irrelevant posts. It is also nice that on NSX Prime there is a separate forum for things such as Tires and Wheels, New and prospective members/car history /comparisons, Owner discussions,Electronics,Forced induction,Track talk,Vendor experiences,parts for sale ,etc. Also donating money is voluntary,not required to see certain items on the forum such as TSB's. I have found this site most helpful in may ways. I was able to add integrated sat radio which my local dealer was in the dark on. What I am saying is there is room for improvement making this site better for everyone.I must say it is nice to be back driving a Porsche 911 again. I had a 1996 narrow body C4, a 1999 911, a 2002 911 and then an NSX from 2006 until recently which I sold and then got a 2006 Carrera. My wife has a boxster and a cayenne S so my friendy porsche dealer likes me.

  7. I had an NSX prior to my 2006 Carrera. The folks on NSX Prime (a similar site to this) really beat people up for street racing. We have all done it but can end up in disaster so as difficult as it is probably best to just ignore the other guy and move on. You probably have the better car and they are jealous. My 2 cents. I am not hear in any way to preach like they would do on NSX Prime. By the way Loren should take a look at NSX Prime which is set up much better than this website.

  8. I have a 2006 Carrera with 18 inch wheels. I run at 39 in back and 33 in front. I found 44R and 36F too rough riding.How come 39R and 33F OK per manuel for 19 inch wheels but not recomended for 18 inch wheels? !8 inch wheel setup has higher sidewall height. Any ideas?

  9. I installed cayenne XM recently into my 2006 Carrera and it works great. I have no bose or CD player. In this setup you want just the straight fiber optic cable NOT the Y shaped one.Dealer had to activate. I added a power amp and 6 inch narrow profile kicker sub woofer in a custom enclosure on shelf behind rear seats. I think the system sounds better thante factory bose. Can anyone see the artist name on the PCM screen? It seems only the name of the station comes up.

Here is what Porsche says "If new tires are to be mounted or the tires of one axle are to be replaced, tires of the same make, the same type and with the same specification code must always be used on each of the two axles. If tires are replaced on one axle only, the different tread depth from that on the other axle can cause a noticeable change in the familiar handling. This is especially the case if new tires are mounted on the rear axle. This effect decreases with increasing tire mileage."

    On a 997 would it be OK to have sport contact 3 tires on rear and sport contact 2 tires on front?? Can no longer get sport contact 2 tire in 265-40-18.

  11. What is fiber optic cable part no. with male at each end, not the Y

    cable which has 2 males and 1 female. A jumper for the female would convet this to the cable I need. I want to plug directly from the female input by the brake booster to the female input on back of XM module. I have a 997 no bose or cd changer, so there is no fiber optic hook up to amp.It is unclear whether or not I will need dealer to enable after making connections as there are conflicting posts on this point.
