  1. Rammi if you wont buy it please send me a PM i will buy it for the engine.

    i am a lebanese too and i need a used engine for a 996 as i was just ripped off by a local mechanic :(

    ahlan b kil el libneniye....

    Rammi the car has a saudi license plate, and looks like it's been sitting in the dessert for a while, i can't see how a car with Saudi license plate could stay in lebanon for 3 years without moving, the lebanese customs rules are that you have to take the car out of the country every 6 months. and the car can stay a maximum of 2 years then it has to have it's Trip ticket renewed.

    if you're interested in porsche wrecks like the one in the attached pictures, there's a lot here in dubai and i work with a lot of people who can assess the extent of the damage...

    hi man

    i am lebanese living in bahrain, if there is a way to find a wreck 996 c2 in dubai with a good engine and acceptable price i can come and buy it.

    thanks

  2. ok guys sorry to keep on bothering you with this subject, but the engine ended up to be a carrera 2004 engine c2 , as the porsche dealer confirmed to me today after taking 200$ just to check it :)

    what might be wrong? as i am certain that the serial number is showing diffrent facts.

    now the guy promised that after tuning the car it will be as fast as "rocket" which i strongly doubt.

    thanks

    joe

  3. Todd is right M96/23 is a MY2003 Boxster 2.7 liter engine. Your car originally had a 3.4 liter engine.

    If you were in the US I would suggest you call an attorney or file a fraud report.

    thank you very much guys, actually here i dont even need an attorney - he will need one coz i can file a case directly in the police station and he will be screwed.

    yes i have been cheated but the stupid mechanic really thought i will not feel the diffrence?????

  4. Is it possible that Jijioz has a 2001 996 (maybe a 2000 build) and therefore the 2003 replacement engine would not need a ne w DME etc? I stil don't believe they did 3.4 / 3.6 swap. Especially in Lebanon. It's not that easy to do ....

    :)anyway i live in bahrain. i wish i took the car home to lebanon coz we have good mechanics there

    thanks guys, so i will drive the car for 200-300 km to see if the performance will increase.

    actually now i feel i am driving a toyota corola :)

    the car feels heavy and slow, the RPM takes ages to reach to the next gear and if i remove my foot from the gas pedal it feels like i used the breakes.

    the guy who did the swap is an ex porsche certified mechanic and very well known, but i really feel he does not know what he did with my car.

    thanks

    joe

  5. Per that SN, it's a 2003 manufactured engine.

    - Last 5 digits on from the right are the specific serial number

    - 6th digit from the right is the code for the year of production

    - 7th and 8th digits from the right are for type of engine (NA or turbo, and for the number of cylinders

    Back to the year of production (6th digit from the right end)

    W = 1998

    X = 1999

    Y = 2000

    1 = 2001

    2 = 2002

    3 = 2003

    4 = 2004

    thanks a lot for the help

    at least i know that they did change the engine

    how i can find out the specs of that new engine? i really want to know if it is S type and 3.6L like i was promised.

    thanks

  6. thanks you guys but where i can find the engine serial? sorry but i am a bit illetrate in cars

    Sounds strange (and highly unlikely) that they would have swapped the 3.4 for a 3.6 :unsure: It a big deal to do the swap. Like Loren said it's not only a different DME but (to do it right) requires a new insrument cluster as well as some additional reprograming and wiring.

    If you did have the 3.6 you would definetly notice a difference in power! I did a swap so I know. It's a PITA.....

    Be interested to see what that serial number says.....

    Please do a search here this has been covered many times...

    ok here it is: M96/2365308062

  8. ok took the car to my dealer and said they need to change the oil cooler and flush the engine!!

    another quik question: will a faulty airmass affect performance and speed?

    they are telling me that mine is gone bad but i dont feel any loss of performance, i only have trouble starting the car soometimes but it will always start after 2-3 tries.

    A faulty MAF sensor will affect performance. It's likely that the sensor degrades slowly over time and you become accustomed to the change without recognizing the performance or drivability has degraded as well.

    Good luck with the oil cooler change. Did they pressure test the cooler or just guess that was the problem area?

    THNAKS FOR THE RELPY

    they tested the car and then they actually removed the aprst out so i really dont know what this means :)

  9. hi guys

    few days back i noticed a little under performance from my 2000 c2 996 / tiptronic gear.

    i noticed as well that the temperature meter is a bit higher then normal all the time but not to a level to consider the car is heated up.

    just today while trying to add water i noticed there is oil inside the water!!!

    what does that mean? should i stop the car and take it to the dealer?

    thanks for your help

    joe

  10. ok i ve done everything and removed the seats and even renovated the seats with new leather in the process

    the immob is tottaly dry and i sprayed the inside just in case.....

    now the car starts sometimes and sometime there is no crank at all

    all electrical functions are operating perfectly i did not notice anything unusual

    Can it be another reason? (i noticed that the car starts early morning when it is cold?)

  11. Thanks for the reply guys

    now the car is starting fine and i have no electrical problems.

    i found that the water was stuck under the carpet and i removed it all

    the leak was the result of a glogged plugs and now i opened them both sides.

    i am just worried about removing the immob coz i cant reach it in a clear way.

    it looks dry when i touch it under the driver seat, is there a diagram or drawing on how to remove the seat?

    thanks a lot

  12. hi

    i have a boxster S 2000 Model automatic gear and tiptronic

    few days ago i found some leaked water under both the seats and i had it dried out

    everything was working perfectly till today morning when the car started after 2-3 tries

    now when i turn the key nothing happens i only hear few clicks

    everything works fine: Alarm - door locks- electrical windows and all dashboard lights

    i already changed the battery as well just in case but nothing changed it totally refuses to start (at least to crank)

    Switch is brand new (changed it at my local porshe dealer few month ago)

    Any suggestions?

    thanks guys in advance

  13. Hi

    i have a Boxster S 2000 model 3.2L

    last week and out of sudden i started hearing a loud noise coming from the front of the car (left and right)

    i noticed that it comes from the fans cooling the radiators in front. plus i get a very strong vibrations all over the car

    the sound is very loud and if i turn the AC unit off the sound will go and the vibration will disappear.

    Any suggestions?
