  1. That should read:

Plug C (Grey) on the Instrument Cluster Pin 22 - Stalk Connector Pin 3

Plug C (Grey) on the Instrument Cluster Pin 21 - Stalk Connector Pin 4

Plug C (Grey) on the Instrument Cluster Pin 24 - Stalk Connector Pin 5

Earth (ground) - Stalk Connector Pin 1

  2. I tried the 123456 on a 2003 S today, made in Feburary 2003. To make it ready for an OBC and cruise control retrofit.

As predicted, the DME did not have an order type, just 3 dashes ---. So I was not able to get to the instrument cluster "modify coding" screen. Instead, it asked for the order type.

Put 123456 into the DME as the order type and I still could not get into the screen. Then I put in 986320 and everything worked.

    So much for that experiment.

My Boxster 2003 S which I changed cluster on is not possible to change anything with the OBC hack.Could this be because the WIN is not right,I also got protected on my CDR 23 radio. What need to be changed with the Porsche tool?

Yes, the new cluster needs to be synch'ed with your DME and other MOST devices.

Thank's,I will let Porsche Center to do that.

  4. Congrads on the install. Other than the two local 2003s we have done I do not know anyone else who has done the retrofit on a 2003. Others have tried and gave up.

When I see 45 degrees I do not miss the East Coast. But at least the speed gong is set to 85 mph.

In 2002 for the Boxster Porsche came out with a dot matrix center display for the trip computer option. Without the option it is a segmented display - the same display that is on a 2001 with the option. Your owners manual shows the difference.

The only way to get the dot matrix display is to buy a new instrument cluster that has the dot matrix display.

This is the center dot matrix display on the 550 special edition.

I have the same display on my instrument cluster does that mean I have the OBC enabled,I have tried to do the retrofit with switch and it didn't work.Any tips how to get it function?

  6. Hi,

I have a 2003 S Boxster,I have connected a switch to the pin 22 and 24 in the instrument cluster,I can only read trip, odometer and temp on the third line,I can't change any thing.Do you know if anything have changed on the OBC on 2003 S?

    Regards

Im sorry if I have confused you. I hope this makes it clearer:

    OBC

For Boxster 1997 to 2000 with the older instrument cluster, you only need to enable the OBC in the instrument cluster control module.

For Boxster 2001 to 2004 with the newer cluster, you have to check that the “order code” has been entered in the DME coding. If it has not, you must enter this code before you can enable OBC in the instrument cluster control module.

The OBC wiring is different for 1997-2000 compared with 2001-2004.

    Cruise

For Boxster 2000 to 2002 you only have to enable cruise in the DME control module.

For Boxster 2003 to 2004 you have to enable cruise in the DME control module and the Instrument Cluster control module.

The cruise wiring is different for 2000, 2001-2002 and 2003-2004.

    Wiring

Basically, there are 3 DME versions, and 2 different Instrument Clusters. As the model years they were fitted overlap, there are small differences in the wiring, and the coding (as above). If anyone wants a simplified wiring diagram specific to their model, for retrofitting OBC and/or cruise, send me an email and I'll attach it to a reply. Just let me know the MY.
