Does this disk work with the pre-2009 PCM?

I checked the lnik, who would know they had the Dension piece?! Unfortunately I don't have the larger nav scree, here's a link of what I'm looking at...

Looks like a basic FM modulator. I have a similar unit installed and it is OK quality (not quite CD quality). I usually listen to podcasts and audiobooks so not having CD quality is ok. For music, the sound quality is similar to FM radio (maybe a little quieter). I suggest getting one with RDS so the artist and track info is shown on the display. Thanks, Berty. I appreciate your knowledge base in this area. As I recall there are arrow indicators on the cable, each indicating pairs: (1-2); (2-3); and (3-1), with the long cable being (2-3), so I assumed that went to the AMP. I connected (1-2) to the most connector behind the brake booster, (2-3) to the AMP, and (3-1) to the DVD. I don't have a cd-changer.

As far as updating the firmware of the DVD, the dealer tech didn't know whether it could be done on my amp. Will the serial # of the amp allow me to determine if I can update it to level C? And if so, which update disks should I obtain?

The PCM you have fitted is level C and originally loaded with software designed to work with the later amplifier , this is why the earlier amp is coming up as an incorrect version. Providing you are getting sound from the amplifier , then personally I would leave it as is. If the porsche agents were unable to update the firmware in the existing amplifier to 017600 , then you will only resolve this issue with a newer amp. Warning triangles in the PCM menu and differing target and actual values are common even on OEM installed vehicles , so dont get hung up on it not being perfect. I assume that when you fitted the PCM and navigation you made sure that the amplifier and navigation unit were in the correct order on the MOST loop. The devices are designed to go in a set order in series on the MOST loop , if you get them connected in the wrong order , comms with the device can be disrupted. The sequence should be: PCM - AMPLIFIER - CD CHANGER - NAVIGATION the return wire from the navigation goes straight back to the rear of the PCM. If you look closely on the rear of each MOST plug there is a direction arrow for IN and OUT. Follow these through and make sure the devices are in the correct order.

As part of the coding you would also need the vehicle handover changing in the PCM to reflect that a boxster rather than 997 was the donor vehcile. The sound settings in the amplifier and audiopilot settings are different between the two cars since the 997 is a different layout and also has more speakers.

I recently retrofitted a PCM/NAV unit from a '07 997 to my '05 987 Boxster. Everything was operational even w/o coding, but I went to the dealership today to have it coded for my car and to remove the reference to the CD changer and remove the /!\ Warning triangle for different target/found AMP (the amp from my original car). In the system info, it is expecting the 17600/3105, but my exisitng amp is a 17500/3504.

They were able to handle a bulk of the coding but were unable to reset the AMP warning sign. Also, the DVD doesn't have a "target" identified. They seemed to be at a loss, so I thought I would check with the experts on this board to see if this is resolvable with the PIWIS.

Please chime in if you think I can get these issues resolved w/o hardware replacement. If possible, please let me know the menu path so I can direct them accordingly.
