  1. So I installed the rear set of PSS9's today they are a bit tricky to get in but with the help of a Jack and thick flat head I was ablt to seat the bottom. Again I am hoping I used the right parts since the Bilstein manual SUCKS. I ended up with the shock, spring and rubber/plastic perch on top of the spring. When I went to fasten the top (inside the car) I found that the OEM nut has wider threads so I was not about to muscle it on. Did anyone else have this problem in the guide it says that the nut is reused (Origal equipment) but I just don't feel right about the size of the threads. Can someone post am interior shot for me? I have the thin nut that keeps the adjustin nut in place. So I guess I will go down to HD and find a similar threaded nut. It took me a few hours to do the rear and sways I think this is definatley a 5-6 Hour job for the first timer. I had fun doing it and saved some money to justify other mods!!!

  2. Well I guess not many people have done this install themselves. I did find it quite easy once I figured out the process. The first strut took me 2 almost 3 hours... The second strut about 20 minutes. I do use air tools so that helps. I did find using a Jack and a pair of spring clamps were very helpful. What took so long? Figuring out how to get the old stut out from under the wheel well. I ended up removing the triangle peice. Also it helps to remove the 10mm bolt that holds the brake wear sensor. It would have been nice to have anther set of hands but it is very doable by yourself.

Question I reused a few parts. the Triangle strut top mount, the ball bearing assemply, the coved washer (Said to reuse that part in the Blilstein doc. I have) and the top and bottom brass color disks (one goes under the large top strut nut. Theother goes over the coved washer.) Did I reuse the right parts? I had the strut, spring and bump stop left.

I highly recommend this as a DIY project. I can't see paying $600-1100 for this job it is not that hard. I still have the rear and sway bars tomorrow. I will give some feedback on the rear tomorrow.

  3. I have a few questions before I swap out the suspension. Do I need to depress the coils on the original springs with a spring clamp type tool? I have the car in the air on Jack stands wheels and calipers off so I thought this would be a great time to do the install. Also one of my front struts is missing a Boot (I bought the PSS9's off a member on 6 speed his shop misplaced the boot) Bilstein is on B/O until the end of Feb. Do I need the boots looking at PET it looks like the GT3 does not have boots as part of the front strut assembly can I get away without the boots for a while? Do I need them at all?

The install looks straight forward just by looking at the exposed parts. Is there a good DIY guide? Any words of Wisdom? Short Cuts etc. before I do the work this weekend?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I answered my own question through a google search...

Installing does require you to remove the front bumper.

    You Need

    Drill & bits

Torx set 2 bits T25,T26&T27 2 of the three can't remember without looking. I recommend using the socket Torx in fact I don't think you can get a full size Torx screwdriver in front of the wheel.

    Ratchet and extension

Needle nose pliars if you have pop up headlight washers

    Phillips screwdriver

-There are 5 or 6 torx screws in each wheel well that needs to be removed.

-There are 2 torx screws near the bumper turn signals one up one forward on each side.

-on the rear of the existing plastic skid plate there are 4 ot 5 Torx bolts that need to be removed. at each end there is a Phillips headed screw.

-Under the Hood there are 4 torx screws and 2 plugs that need to be removed.

-Once you remove all of these screws and bolts (This is where a helping hand comes in handy. You need to reach in on the side and pull up on a lever that is a latch each side has one. You can feel it. Towards the top on the side of the bumper cover about a 12-18" in. Once you release these the bumper will slide out.

-If you have the Pop up headlight washers you need to unhook the hose and clamp it. I used a set of needle nose vice grips to pinch off the hose.

-There is also a wiring harness that needs to be removed both the hose and wiring harness are on the passenger side near the fender.

Now that you have the bumper off.

-Remove the Eye hook covers completely.

    - You need to drill holes into the existing plastic skid plate. There are little raised circles to direct you where to drill. there is about 10-12 holes that need to be drills. Use a drill bit that is the size of the circle.

-Now that the holes are drilled flip the bumper cover over (So that it is sitting nose up to the ceiling) and put your Skid plate in place. I left the plastic protective film on until the job was done. I recommend not removing the film.

-Before the next step make sure you have the plastic skid plate extension piece placed between the existing skid plate and the new SS skid plate. It is like a puzzle when you are looking at it you will know where it goes. Now Holding it in place start putting on the clips the large clips go around the outside the small clips go on up towards the nose where there is a small clearance. After you have a couple on Flip the bumper cover over so that the skid plate is on the floor. (I used towels for cushion) use a set of needle nose pliers to push the clamps down on the posts. You will understand when you are doing this it can be done with your fingers but you will have torn up hands by the end. Make sure you did not miss any of the posts.

-I installed my Silver Hood crest at this point.

-Now start putting everything back together. Just follow the directions I gave you to remove the bumper to put it back on. In reverse of course!

    - Peel the film from the Skid plate.

-Install the two rubber Eye hook covers

Woo hoo your done now sit back and appreciate your success!

  6. I bought your video to do the OBC 4 stock retrofit...

1st question do I need to buy the wiring harness from Porsche or did you guys make that? If it is a Porsche part what is the part #?

2nd When you said you may have to pound on it to get the instrument cluster into place... Your camera man said it is like having sex for the first time... WHAT 6speed MEMBER WAS THAT... I busted up laughing!!! VERY FUNNY!
