  1. I am in a similar situation and I am looking into options. Local indie is suggesting to replace the DME and just the DME part is costing me 1700$. WHat is the typical cost of replacing and coding the DME?

My issue is solved. I got an used DME from Ebay for U$200 and paid $200 for coding. The mechanic did the job he works in Porsche dealer so he really knows what he is doing and fix it wit with the PIWIS for coding the used DME to the car.

  2. My mechanic got it all hooked up properly despite my efforts in Aug-Sept.

Car drives great but the idle sucks at times and acceleration is awesome.

Wish the **** car idled smoothly. I'm thinking could still be a vacuum leak or the MAFS.

Check engine breather hoses; there are 2 breather hoses one long and one short in front of engine. The hard plastic hoses that usually breaks and having tiny invisible cracks and causing vacuum leaking. That influences the engine idle but easy to fix!

  3. HI Everyone,

After through many diagnostic and research I found out the DME/ECU on my 04 Cayenne-S could be bad and caused PSM workshop failure frenquently specifically when the weather or car is HOT; guess the DME is getting hot as well.

    Question:

1.If I getting an used DME; would it work directly or need to be coded? Or need to get a new one?

2.I have a Launch X431 there is a coding function for DME but I never done it and has no clue if is applicable. Anyone has experience with it? With Dealer they are talking about thousands dollars job for replacing a DME.

    Great appreciated!

  4. Currently doing the conversion as I crashed my car.. For the tail light, i went to an electrician, who rewired it and now its ok. You can also find a control unit at HOFELE, but its quite expensive and its out of stock The 955 and 957 parking sensor and the tail pipe are different, must be cut and welded

I am doing the rear conversion from 955 to 957; having an issue with tailights. I have rewired all correctly but keep getting the failure warning of brake and tail light (day Light); I have connected the 6-0hm resistor on negative but no help. The brake light works fine though. The very strange thing is the LED tail light. The tail light works no problem when first turn the key to red or turn the light switch on; however, after starting the car then the light no working.

Anyone can help or any input would be appreciated!

  5. Sorry I just got home now. Please let me know when you are online so we can try it together, or you can email me your instructions paulwu1010@yahoo.com Thank you one million and you have been very helpful!

I can connect the Launch tool in one min to my TCU. What info I need to post? I just tried it there are many selections.

  6. I have Launch tool with most recent sofatware updated for Porsche and VW. I see there are coding functions but never tried it since there are no details to tell you what to do neither.

I retrive the DME info from Launch; there are many info:

    Part # 8SL-VAS-N30-000

    Ecu coding: 0000133

    Diagnosis software number:9401

    System designation: 041800144FG8SLVG

    Prduction date: 14.04.03

    Serial number: VWZ3Z0C5039905

Hope above info helps! If I can code myself it would like to hit a jackpot! Thank you!

  7. I have to say that I have the same experiences with dealers...

Well I also change TCM unit, and they also said, that 955.618.022.12 SW0602 will not work in my car... In the and I bought this unit, coded by myself, and wooolaaa it's working! But the thing is, that I already have updated DME. I your DME is not updated yet, will these need to be necessary to work with newer TCM sw, and that can only be done with PIWIS.

WOW..there seems to be a light again!

Can you please teach me how to code yourself? Or what to do in order to update the DME with PIWIS? In fact dealer they hate you telling them to do what but you need to pretend you don't know anything about the car and tell them the symptom..if needing to go back to dealer how and what I need to tell in order to do the DME update then coding the TCU?

Funny thing the dealer they would laugh you and looked you down if you said you got the info from the help of forums. In fact all I learn to fix this car one by one from forum help and I totally believe you guys are way further knowledgeable than those changing parts one there.

  8. The MY04 Cayenne-S is really a problematic car; I learned alot from it. I believe all the famous issues happened on my one. There is even uncommon one which is the front differential grinding noise; I have it too! Valve body already changed; getting better the clunking but still there especially when low speed cornering and downshifting. It is a pain. Now in the stage of TCU and my DIY skill got stopped so no choice and have to see dealer for coding and stuff. If not finding a good garage or dealer it would be like throwing money and time for nothing. Basically most of dealer mechanics know only changing parts following by its manual or training; but not fixing car. If your issue they never met then they don't know but still charging you money for them to play around; and coming out with bunch of excuses and you problem remains still.

The dealer I went already confirmed 955.618.022.12 SW0602 not working (is that truth? or who knows!) but the one I ordered the part said it works for all V8 from 03. Electronic part is not returnable. So now I am hesitating with TCU; furthermore, even I got a good one but if dealer turn out to me not working again? Of course they tell me to order and install from them and charging you double!

Sigh, I am in Montreal Canada and don't have a trustful Porsche dealer around; at least I don't know one here. I know bunch of good garages but no one has the PIWIS!

If you were me what you would do now? Thinking of selling the car but it is a long way I have been walking with; just don't want to give up this pig that early! : )

  9. Thank you everyone the speedy help. The dealer I went not doing proper job but charged 3.3hr job and turning back telling me the TCU I brought in is not correct one; said is for Cayenne Turbo. I double checked the one I got is 09D927750CB which is equivalent to 955.618.021.12 for 2003-present Caynne S V8 models with code IGOR/IT90/D9L. So mad and got fight with the "stealer"; for sure not going back to the same place.

I am in Montreal Canada; any recommend place to go and fix the TCU issue?

Well, 09D927750CB has SW 0606, and this unit is for TURBO.

Start from beginning. What problem you have? Why yo want to change TCM?

I current have TCU 09D927750AG and got one 09D927750CB to be coded for the MY04 Cayenne-S; the intention beginning I just want the car with most updated TCU software so the car can run much smoothly as the fact the early cayenne all having the tramsmission clunk issue in low speed. Believe or not the dealers here they do not know anything about TCU software update; that is why I ordered an additional TCU.

If you sure the one I got is for turbo then can you tell me which one I need to get for Cayenne-S?

I decided to go with a TCU swap because I currently having another issue with the transmission; which could be either the output speed sensor (inductive transmitter) failure that need to remove the oil pan to do the change or with bad TCU. The easier way is to go with TCU swap my intention at least if not the TCU problem I still got the TCU software update for the car. This is the whole story; but now seems all screwed up; money spent in dealer for nothing and even lost my tiptronic rocker switch function. Sad!

  10. Thank you everyone the speedy help. The dealer I went not doing proper job but charged 3.3hr job and turning back telling me the TCU I brought in is not correct one; said is for Cayenne Turbo. 11. Hi,I have a MY04 Cayenne-S. The tiptronic switches was working fine since got the car; today not working after back from dealer by doing a TCU (transmission control unit) adaptation coding. But ending up not working with the TCU I brought in; still using my old TCU. Talked to the dealer they said it has nothing to do. I don't know what to do neither. All other buttons on the steering working except the tiptronic rocker siwtches.

The tiptronic from selector lever is working fine! Can anyone help please? Thank you!

  12. Hello all,

Need your guys help here. The 04 Cayenne-S was running fine but all sudden losing power while doing a parking with trailer. Idle very rough, low and smell fuel from the exhaust.

Got the code of p0300, p0301, p0303, p0308 they are the multiple misfire and cylinder 1, 3 & 8 misfire.

What I have done already below in sequence:

    1. Changed all 8 spark plugs new

    2. Changed all Beru coils new.

    3. Changed new battery.

    4. Disconnect the coil connector 1 & 3 while idling; the same rough shaking; guess there were no spark or signal

    5. Swapped camshaft position sensors bank1 and bank 2; was guessing it could be one of CPS bad.

    6. Checked each coil connector and power; all are fine.

All resulting in the same things; erased the codes each time but came out the same.

    What else can be?

Being doing many research and there are things found that could be; but not sure how to check:

    -DME?

-Fuel pump? not enough fuel pressure...but why only 3 cylinders misfire?

-Compression test..can't image why and suddenly if I have 3 cylinders down?

Any input will be great appreciated!

    Regards,

    Paul

  13. I don't remove the latch just soak it with WD-40 and use compressed air to remove and excess and debris that might be gumming up the switch. I've only had this work a few time and often need to replace the latch assembly.

I just bent the plastic rod a little bit so it can reach and press the microswitch. I has been ok for a year.

    thanks

I really have no idea where is the microswitch in the latch. Can you tell me where it is which toward up, down or inner which side? I tried to insert a rod but feel nothing. Thank!

  14. There is a micro switch located in the latch that causes this problem. They do sometimes stick and can be cleaned with WD-40 and compressed air. I would resist the urge to lubricate them with any type of grease or oil as it often attracts dirt which aggravates the problem. The latch must be replaced as an assembly.

The dealer can test the switch to see which one is at fault.

Thanks for the reply. Can you advise how to clean the micro switch in the door latch? Does it need to remove door panel? When I dismantle the door latch and anything need to be attention?
