    Our direct replacement diverter valves will eliminate the notorious "Honking" sound commonly heard when the OEM valves have failed. Our valves will restore lost power and will hold more boost pressure than the stock units for added performance. In addition, they recover quicker than the OEM valves which allows better spool up after shifts. We designed our valves with a 90 degree vacuum port which allows for additional vacuum line clearance and a trouble free installation. The EVO billet diverter valves for the 996TT / X50 / GT2 / Turbo S come as a complete kit and carries our exclusive lifetime warranty.

  2. The car runs fine but the check engine is on. I had Autozone read the code and it was P0102. I subscribe to DIY Alldata and it indicates that the signal from the MAF(Mass Air Flow sensor is below the lower limit. It indicates that the signal wire from the MAF is broken or is shorted to ground. I disconnected the MAF and put an ohm meter on pin 5 of the connector.

    It read 10,000 ohms. That says to me that the wire is not open or shorted to ground so something else is wrong. According to Alldata pin 4 of the MAF is the 5 volt supply line and pin 5 is the signal line. The ohm meter shows a resistance of 45,000 ohms from pin 4 to pin 5 of the MAF. Can anyone tell me if this is a good value. My theory is that 45,000 ohms is way to high and the MAF is bad. Just for reference the ohm reading on the connector are pin 1 - 1,000 ohms , 2 - 100 ohms, 3 - 0 ohms, 4 - 1,500 ohms, 5 - 10,000 ohms. The ohms reading on the MAF are pin 5 to 1 - 19,000, 5 to 2 - 60,000, 5 to 3 - 15,000, 5 to 4 - 45,000. Before I replace the MAF I would like to get your suggestions.

    I wouldn't check with Autozone to read your CODE. Take it to the porsche dealer and have them read proper reading.

    Personally I love my K&N filter, and over 60k miles on my new engine and still running fine without any engine warning lights.

  3. thanks for the feedback, guys. i will be posting pics and commentary from the entire build once it's done. i feel the let-down when i show people some of the stuff that's incomplete. they don't see what i see when i look at it, so it just looks f'd up, you know what i mean?

    i'm getting into the home stretch, though, and i'm about to install the back-up sensors and reverse camera, which i have left until last for a reason. i'm about to do a search through the DIY sections for rear bumper removal, or better yet, maybe a DIY on the back-up sensors ;)

    vfxbox, man, i'm definitely going to be in touch soon. monday (tomorrow) evening i'll be driving down to bellflower to pick-up my son from the paintball field. i'm not sure how close you are to there, but i do believe that you have my number if you'd like to hook-up.

    okay, back to work...oh, and thanks for the dealership tip on getting the airbag sensor reset!

    I am 10 - 15 minutes away NR Auto (office is near laurel canyon + ventura blvd). I get off from the work around 6pm, cruzing back home on ventura blvd east then I-405 south.

  4. Hello everyone,

    I'm new here and new to porsche, i just bought my first porsche a 01 996 cabriolet triple black. It's a beautiful beast and i think i'll be hard pressed to own another vehicle ever again.

    Anway, i drove it home from california to michigan ~2700 miles and i've put about 1200 on since i've gotten it home. I've recently started to notice that when i push on the braked pedal at low speeds i get a noticable singing noise coming from the brakes. I dealership i bought it from said it had new brakes installed by a porsche dealership about 4k before i bought it. So its got approximately 8-9k miles on the "new" brakes. Any suggestions on this issue...are porsche brakes only good for that many miles, is ithis a normal occurance??? Forgive my ignorance if this is a really easy/stupid question!!!

    I had mine installed by dealer and pad is actual porsche/brembo. but it did start to squeeky after 3k miles.

    Problem was vibration between pad and piston and you can use brake pad quieter or add liner.

  5. I have this crazy idea, I doubt it has been done before. For XM or GPS antenna pods, how about finding a cranny in between the canvas top and the interior liner? Somewhere toward the latch would ensure that the antenna wouldn't go under the tonneau and would always have a clean signal. All you'd have to worry about is the routing of the wires, and epoxying or bolting a bracket inside the mechanism.

    ummm... not bad.. but one problem.. steel beam structure will block XM/GPS signals.

    Wiring will be similar to V1 install unless you put XM/GPS antenna right above back mirror.

  6. I'm looking for the best place to put the antenna for the XM radio I am about to install. I popped the cover off the IR sensor between the defroster ducts. It looks like there is plenty of room for the antenna. but I'm not sure how to fish the cable down into the console near the CDR-220. Has anyone done this or perhaps installed a satnav antenna in this location that can help me? If it is relavent the car is an '00 non-S. Any tips would be appreciated. I would also be interested in hearing opinions on this location from a performance standpoint.

    you could fish through left or right side wing (next to IR sensor box) and drop the cable behind airbag area.

    then you have to work under the dash and route through radio... it's simple job, but takes patient.

  7. i'm going to try and make an otherwise very long story as short as possible. i'm nearing the end of a huge install (nav, satelites (3), cd, ipod, etc., plus reverse sensors and a reverse camera). all told, it's a huge project for me. it's been an incredible learning experience, my first real car DIY on my first Porsche and it included lots of interior and exterior modifications (type-2 side skirts, techart wheels, cf intake splitters, custom red on black floor mats, body-colored center console, etc.).

    so, here's where i cut to the chase. i'm going after the reverse sensor wire under the driver's seat (black with blue stripe), and i tap into it. during this process i unplugged some of the cables beneath the seat, but got them plugged back in. yeah! success! everything seems to be working great...except for the fact that the car ('03 996 TT) won't start. the electrical works, but i don't even get a click-click-click. the stereo works, the lights all come on, the battery isn't dead at all...but she won't start-up.

    any ideas? any ideas on how I could fix this problem? i'm pretty positive that it's a computer issue...but i can't figure out how to fix it, and i'm about to start crying over this spilt milk. please help me...i'm begging you. and, if you are in so-cal, and think you could fix it yourself, i could make it worth your while :(

    I just finish putting front grill today, and replacing wheel liner. Then stop by at 997 Turbo release party.

    Good thing you figured out by your self. For airbag issues, bring over to your local dealer.. they can reset it for free.

  8. I just bought the car about 3 weeks ago 1999 boxster and was putting in a XM sat system, when I removed the panels around the radio I found these unmarked boxes? One is a rechargable battery the other is just a black box with what appears to be some sort of antenna hookup and a FCC warning label?

    I figure its one of two things 1.Car Alarm system or 2. LoJack? They dont look factory so I was wondering of someone could tell me what they are?
