I saw these pedals being advertised on 6speedonline. Any thoughts Pros/Cons or better yet anyone have these in their car? They seem to be a great deal...do you think that they are good quality?

Thanks!
I bought mine from same guy on eBay, 5th-gear and I compared with Ruf, and TechArt. Quality are almost same and I give BIG thumbs up to 5th-gear guys.

I would spend a while reading through this forum if I was in your position, lots of good info here. Your statement that ''I know that Porsches are basically bulletproof in terms of construction and build (from consumer reports they claim the porsches are among top reliable cars with Honda, Lexus etc '' is more Porsche hype than reality.
They are great cars no doubt about that but many come with problems you would not expect for the price. I have a 99-996 which is basically sorted now after 6.5 years but it has been hard work.
I waited over year doing research and more research. mean time, I was having fun with my brother's 350Z for 6 month or so..
If you can wait for next few more month or so I am sure price will come down more. 997 C2 or C4 are out there, many of them are still new and until 997 turbo and GT3 come out this summer you wouldn't see any big depreciation prices on any 996 much as you want.
check with eBay motor for up to date prices in country and check with your local prices too. Keep your eyes and ears open.. who knows, some of 996 owners are waiting for trade their 996 with new 997 turbo or GT3.

Hadn't seen those one vfxbox, I did mean at the front where the bumber meets the underpart of the body, but I was mistaken as there are no fittings on there. I had only look briefly last time, was right underneath the car today so had a good look.
Well I have put the splitters on the front of the car today, had to put the wheel arch liner back properly where my husband had taken it off and looked like it had thrown it back...you men, what are you like!!
Have yet to travel at a higher speed to see if there is a difference in how she feels.
I've pushed mine to 135mph near Vegas last year.. had to slow down.. Hwy Patrol was near by.. :)
No vibration, just smooth sail.

Liz,
there are no other flaps in the middle of the car but if you could post a picture of the attaching points you reference then maybe somebody could help with the answer. The flaps in the picture have nothing to do with the aerodynamic stability of the car at high speed. I would suspect that your alignment probably has more to do with your wandering issue. As a point, in the future you need to post your model year, Model, body type, and left or right hand drive when asking a question. That helps get to the point quickly.
Thanks for the reply, I thought as I had posted in the 986 Boxster section that I was part of the way there with you knowing what car I have???
For the record is it a '98 Boxster, RHD as I am in the UK.
I read on another forum, and there is a picture with an air tunnel, and it shows that these flaps do make a difference to the air flow around the wheels, why put them there otherwise? Mine has been recently aligned and is spot on.
Got my bits this morning and will be crawling around underneath the car later! Thanks for the reply
I think Liz is refering middle/back flap where rear wheel shaft is.
Here are some photos I took from last week.

Okay, we have an update. The Lilliput 7" screen arrived, and it's such a perfect fit, I decided to mount it "As-Is" I put some double sided sticky pads around the unit, and it fit like a dream.
Is that a touch screen? I am just curious.

oh, like this? :) i'm actually running XP now, (and i removed the stick on aluminum trim.)

I'll be taking the LCD out of the case and mounting it in the space then placing the DVD slot-loading drive beneith that.
Where oh where did you get that awsome skin for MediaCenter????
Thanks,
Todd

You can buy most thimgs at www.ebay.com. Read the ads carefully, and make sure you check the seller's feedback. Eli
eBay may sounds good, but why don't you take great deal from Sunset Imports Porsche which offers great deal! Dealer cost...

Since the side buttons have to be able to snap back on to this piece after fabrication and incorporation of the TFT bezel, I'm wondering how I am going to get this to work.
The TFT doesn't arrive until the 6th, and I'll be dremmeling away at my current dash frame piece (that middle bar for example has to go). but in the mean time, if someone has some fabrication tips for this sort of thing, it would be appreciated.
More soon . . .
Todd
I am also dremmeling new speaker mount kit this week, my fabrication tips.. just heavy duty tape surrounding area you need to protect... also use sheet metal to protect area you don't want to to be touch by accident... some times dremel can go high speed and slip out from my hand... oops. sheet metal really helps for protection.
Goodluck! and be brave...

Windows PC sounds good, but too complicate.
Instead, I replace mine with Pioneer AVIC-N3 GPS Navigation with XM radio, XM traffic-Nav, & iPod module.
I get real time XM traffic information like "there is traffic 3 miles a head" with real time traffic display on 6.5 LCD. also it gives me option to avoid and ask me for re-route to other alternative.
pretty cool.
Yes, there are some gaps. That is because I have not installed the new trim piece down there yet. I've ordered it from Suncoast imports. Once in place, it will look seamless.Todd
you don't need that thing. i replaced mine using a volkswagen adapter. i hardwired the new head unit to the adapter and it plugged right into the car. got it at circuit city for $3.00.
How did you connect to the C1 plug? I've read several posts, but the only option I've found is to splice into the wires. Did you find a compatible C1 plug?

Hey, thanks for the info. I've got a retailer offering the exact same MAF I have for $276. I'm going to go ahead and purchase it now based on your information. Thanks for taking the time to read my posts, and see the same situation and share your experiences. THAT, my friend, is what makes this forum an invaluable tool to owning these wonderful cars.
More info to be posted soon when the new MAF arrives.
Todd
Have you ever consider using EVO's MAF?

As far as sound quality may improved over stock stereo, but can't really tell. I've use PAC-OEM2 converter to integrate with stock/Boss amp and speakers. Only thing pulled out from stock audio is head unit.
AVIC-3 with iPod, and XM NavTraffic is all seperate units. AVIC-N3 main controller is installed under passenger's seat, iPod unit is installed behind GT-3 console delete box, XM NavTraffic in behind passenger's leg wall/carpet area. I will post more photos from installation and actual video/sound if I can.
vfxbox,How about your comments on the sound quality vs original and your opinion on the gps?

Slide them back/forth to set the clamshell flush. Plus, get a toothbrush in there; somewhere, Orient Express is having a heart attack.

How do I correct this problem, picture you've post is almost same as mine, but mine is not that extreme. probably half inch up on passenger side. how do I flush with the body of my car? bang it with my bare hand? :D
Thanks Tool Pants.
I cannot see your car over the internet. If one end of the clamshell is not flush with the body of the car then the clamshell was tweaked/bent when the top operation failed.
All I can see in your picture is that a portion of the clamshell is not flush with the body of the car, and since I cannot see your car or the other end of the clamshell I do not know why.
This is an example of a tweaked clamshell, where the clamshell is not yet in the fully closed postion..
-
I couldn't tell. when it failed, I was driving 12mph as it was closing in.. then bang! joint ball cap broke off when cable got cut off. so it is possible.. if clamshell got tweak, how hard is it to fix it?
Is the clamshell tweaked from when the top failed? -
Top repair session went this morning, took all day long.. many adjustments, trial and errors :)
Replaced driver side cable (microswitch was in driver side transmission, Thanks Tool Pants) and replaced broken red ball cap with white, but used same old push rod instead. New revised push rod is bit longer and had difficult to make adjustment.
Top is working and keep making adjustments, but it came down to little problem. Passenger side hood wouldn't go all the way. Do I have to use force, push it down? I looked at inside where the push rod is and it is blocking guide arm at the end which lead to raise the hood to tilt up.

Hello,
Could someone giveme the dimensions of the OEM porsche alu door sills.
I found some on ebay but they seem so small to me!
It's quite urgent
thank you
I bought mine from local porsche junkyard for $100, but I painted with black.
For size, it is correct size but there are some non-OEM which does look small.
Ask seller for measurement and see if it's small or right size.
It should be exact 30" long.

any comments on the rubber pads? How long have you had them installed?
I had mine since January this year and rubber feels excellent. specially when I get in my car after rain.. it never sliped my shoes not once. I paid more than what's posted on ebay now.. I think I paid mine for around $250 when it came out.
