  1. You can turn off (mute) with the switch for as long as you want. Before you have it installed, you might want to have the European auto mute not installed. The auto mute can be very annoying. Have the person who is installing to just leave out the four pin metal clip when working in the relay box area. I believe it's relay or connector #23. They'll know what you're talking about when you mention it and they're working in that area. Also, I highly recommend that they use S/Steel hose clamps on all the places where the vacuum lines connect or you'll be back many times until they do put them on. Good luck!  ;)

What do you mean whit "they use S/Steel hose clamps on all the places where the vacuum lines connect or you'll be back many times until they do put them on"?

What will happens when he doesn't use s/steel hose clamps?

Can you show me a photo about this?

    Thanks Wardhog.

  2. I sent you the TSB. Please remember that this is a PCNA version of the TSB so RoW versions may differ. When asking for warranty type work - out of warranty it is best to have a history (documentation) backup for all previous problems. In most cases that I am aware of Porsche has been very fair with their customers.

    Hello Loren,

Probably you have sent the TSB, but I didn't received it. You know, sometimes the e-mail goes wrong.

One friend has brought his car today to the workshop due the RMS and the copy of the TSB could be helpfull maybe.

His car and mine are 99'C4.

When this problem doesn't go fixed, the 996 could be an expensive car.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hello,

Lore, that means that Porsche assume the cost of the replaced engine when that problem appers independent of the gone warranty time, or the cost of the RMS replacement?

At the back of the engine of my car you can see it's dirty with oil. Could be I have the problem?

Is possible to have pictures and a copy of the TSB?

I have buyed the cas as second hand by the Porsche dealer. It could be that the motor is not the original and has been replaced before due to the RMS problem. Iwill check the number number. How can I know the year model of the motor?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hello chicagobob,

I have the same car 99'C4, and my question is what type exactly you have mounted.

The type that has told Loren, 34R is not available in Spain, here we have in RedTop and YellowTop the 4,2LS and the smaller 4,2LU.

I don't use the car sometimes in 3 or 4 weeks, and have some electrical devices that don't disconnect.

Sometimes I can't starter the car after this times and the batterie is dead.

I'm thinking about to use the YellowTop cause she is developed for deep cycle.

My question is to search what dimensions is the Batterie you use and know if the YellowTop equivalent in Spain has the same.

    Thanks in advance.
