You can turn off (mute) with the switch for as long as you want. Before you have it installed, you might want to have the European auto mute not installed. The auto mute can be very annoying. Have the person who is installing to just leave out the four pin metal clip when working in the relay box area. I believe it's relay or connector #23. They'll know what you're talking about when you mention it and they're working in that area. Also, I highly recommend that they use S/Steel hose clamps on all the places where the vacuum lines connect or you'll be back many times until they do put them on. Good luck! ;)
What do you mean whit "they use S/Steel hose clamps on all the places where the vacuum lines connect or you'll be back many times until they do put them on"?
What will happens when he doesn't use s/steel hose clamps?
Can you show me a photo about this?
Thanks Wardhog.

I had a similar noise last summer, it seems to come from the interior back part of the car. In my case I have a 99C4 Coupe, and the cause was the rubber pieces at the rear sway-bar. After the years they have became too dry, a little grease and noise goes away.

I have the car with 744 color, and buy a retouch pencil to retouch some minor stone damages, but the color provided by the Porsche dealer seams not to be correct  . Could someone tell me the code number of the correct retouch pencil?

I'm interested too.

You must check the offset number, it's important, not only the width of the whells.
Remember that Porsche does many tests to calibrate the dinamic of the car with several whells. To use an non approved dimension could end in a non favorable car dinamic in hard turns.

What do you think about car cover Weathershield from AutoAnything?
It's the right for indoor and sometimes outdoor?

I'm also interested in change my steering wheel with Carnewal's one 3 spoke and triptronic.
My car is 99' C4 Triptronic.
The DIY instructions are the same?

I will tell it to my shop that they activate it.

I have a 99' C4, and in the car's book I have read that it could be programmed that the doors close at a certain conditions, but my porsche dealer says me that in my car it is not possible.
Can someone help me?

I sent you the TSB. Please remember that this is a PCNA version of the TSB so RoW versions may differ. When asking for warranty type work - out of warranty it is best to have a history (documentation) backup for all previous problems. In most cases that I am aware of Porsche has been very fair with their customers.
Hello Loren,
Probably you have sent the TSB, but I didn't received it. You know, sometimes the e-mail goes wrong.
One friend has brought his car today to the workshop due the RMS and the copy of the TSB could be helpfull maybe.
His car and mine are 99'C4.
When this problem doesn't go fixed, the 996 could be an expensive car.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Lore, that means that Porsche assume the cost of the replaced engine when that problem appers independent of the gone warranty time, or the cost of the RMS replacement?
At the back of the engine of my car you can see it's dirty with oil. Could be I have the problem?
Is possible to have pictures and a copy of the TSB?
I have buyed the cas as second hand by the Porsche dealer. It could be that the motor is not the original and has been replaced before due to the RMS problem. Iwill check the number number. How can I know the year model of the motor?
Thanks in advance.

I have an 99' C4 with Sportclassic II 18"
What spacers can I use?
5 mm in all the wheels or only 17 mm at the rear ones?
Does it increase performance driving curves, or only better image?
Thanks in advance.

Many thanks Loren. You are the Porsche's Bible.

Thanks chicagobob, but this type of connectors are not delivered in Spain. I see that the general dimension of the type I need are OK. The only problemm is that probably I must change the + car cable, cause it's probably to short. I must check it.
Good speed.

Hello chicagobob,
I have the same car 99'C4, and my question is what type exactly you have mounted.
The type that has told Loren, 34R is not available in Spain, here we have in RedTop and YellowTop the 4,2LS and the smaller 4,2LU.
I don't use the car sometimes in 3 or 4 weeks, and have some electrical devices that don't disconnect.
Sometimes I can't starter the car after this times and the batterie is dead.
I'm thinking about to use the YellowTop cause she is developed for deep cycle.
My question is to search what dimensions is the Batterie you use and know if the YellowTop equivalent in Spain has the same.
Thanks in advance.

Are for MY99 Carrera 4 are the same dimensions?

When new brake discs and pads are mounted.
How must be done the brake-in to reach the best results?

What do you think about PZero Corsa for C4 99'?
Of course to use in summer time.
How much km they would reach with medium-hard drive style?
How much km could be run at a circuit with 25ºC outside temperature?
I know there are many factors involved, but any information would be gratefull.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your answers. I probably will install it wired to get the sound rules at the technical inspections, and have the posibilty to have quiet long voyages.
-
This new manual operated with switch change to normal sound in some velocity ranges automatically like the old one, or only change to standard sound with the switch?
And a second question:
The initial position when you started the car is standard or sport sound?

I have the same when I change the suspension at 95.000 km. But after the noise dessaper till this moment. I have 99700 km on my car in this moment.
Will These Wheels Fit My 996 C2?
in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)

I have a 99 C4, and the factory design says:
7,5Jx18 ET50 with 225/40 ZR 18
10Jx18 ET65 with 265/35 ZR 18
and your car must have the same.
I have this wheels and the driving is much more better than with the 17" ones.
Some wheels dimensions was changed on 2002 for the 18" wheels. 7,5J has become to 8J, and 265 rear is now 285, also the offset has changed.
