  1. Airbag light comes on my 2006 Cayenne turbo S ….Durametric cannot communicate with the airbag module so into the dealer she goes. They tell me the passenger side front seatbelt retractor is bad. $600 and change to replace it. I approve the repair online and then called him about 30 minutes later asking for the old parts to be left in the car that were replaced. All of a sudden the price jumps up to $900.!!! Sounds fishy ….I told the service advisor I am not comfortable with the price increase right after I ask for the old parts and accountability! Final repair comes in at just under $600 but no old parts were provided when I picked up the vehicle. Back online it appears there’s a company possibly in Wisconsin that you can ship your seatbelt retractor to and they’ll repair it and provide a lifetime warranty. Not sure if simply repairing/replacing this will turn the airbag light off or not.

  2. Richard and Phoney, I have an update on my 06 CTTS! I didn't have any luck with the side dash fuses so started pulling fuses in the relay box between the firewall and brake fluid resv. Not sure which fuse woke it up but simply pulling and pushing fuses back in woke it up! I do have a warning light on the dash for the suspension that was not there before, so I will try to clear the code in Durametric and diagnose for other faults. Will keep you posted.

       Could it be coincidental that my "service now" msg is also on the instrument panel?

     

    second update: warning light for the suspension went off as soon as I drove it around the block.

  3. A quick search of this forum showed no sign of any discussion on infant seats. I am a proud new grandpa as of yesterday with a newly purchased 2006 (mfg date 10/06) CTTS as well. So I am interested in what infant seat works well in the back seat of a Cayenne? I'm especially interested in seats that have the plug which disabled the rear airbags. I found the leads under the rear seats which I presume plug into the car seat. Any advice woud be greatly appreciated and if you have one to sell I'd like to hear more about that as well.

        And I have to say this Turbo S is worth every penny...what a ride!!

  4. Been a while since anyone has mentioned this important extended warranty and I have some new information on my case, so here goes. I finally found the receipt for the coils. It was with some other parts for another project I bought at the same time. Never thought to look in THOSE boxes! So I send the letter and receipt to Porsche a couple of months ago and time goes by so I get antsy. After many phone calls I get a check for the parts but no labor reimbursement. Many more phone calls to the gods explaining I can't find the receipt but that their own letter plainly states that they "may" reimburse what Porsche would charge. Initially they refused. You can read that part of the letter in my post above. It's about two thirds of the way down the page. Then I talk some more and they reconsider but here is the rub. They refuse to pay what Porsche would charge me to do the job. I get a check today for $174.20 They call this a compromise which is not the same as a reimbursement. I have to look at this as better than nothing, which is what I had since 2009 when I bought the coils.

  5. Thanks for all the replies everyone! The car is listed on cargurus so Doohan may have found the ad but my gut tells me to trust what most folks said back in March and that is take an 04-06 CTT and add $2K in upgrades and you have "S" performance. I wish I could have gotten this one for closer to $20K than $26K but I truly hope he gets his price. That would be a dream come true for him I bet! For me there is no reason to buy this "S" since all the badging has been removed. No bragging rights at that point, right?!

  6. Any advice from anyone on how to spot a Cayenne that still needs coolant tubes, driveshaft, and coil packs without seeing the vehicle? Is mileage the best indicator? I have a Durametric Enthusiast. Is there any way to reset it now that my car is gone to wipe the VIN off of it so I can check a car I'm ready to buy?

    The one I thought was the guy in Kansas with the CTTS turned out to be a black CTT advertised as a Turbo S. Turns out it is a regular Turbo pretty close to Dallas Tx. Tried again to contact them.

  7. Anyone know a good website for buying another CTT? I was hit head-on two weeks ago and just learned my Turbo is toast. I've looked at all the usual sites like Cars.com and Traderonline, but nothing is jumping out. Also, I learned the other guys insurance company can give you credits for "upgrades" so be sure and keep all your receipts always. They gave me credits (real money!!) for stuff I did 5 years ago.

  8. Just got back from my indy mech who ran the smoke test. Would not have found these leaks otherwise. In addition to the bulkhead leak another was found by way of the smoke test done by the local garage. It seals the entire vacuum system and pumps vapor into an open port. Leaks can't hide from this test! The other leak, much smaller, was the check valve underneath the engine's torque arm. The bulkhead leak was massive and was plugged to discover the other much smaller leak in the check valve.

  9. Hey wrk4it, I am expecting my ESP kit today and will be doing the job this weekend so really happy to read your experience with this. Did you have to remove exhaust hangers? How about jacking the car? Rear only up on jackstands or what did you do?

    My original shaft was replaced around 70K miles and now I have 140K miles when that one failed. No more original shaft replacements for me!
