  1. Thanks to working4it I got the emergency stop gap release instruction in time to liberate my baby! I did tell him I would definitely do a followup so everyone would know what the problem was and how to fix it. So here goes...it was the latch surround in the upper compartment that was popping out and let the hinge pin drop out of place!! The surround is the little rectangular frame that holds the latch in place. A dab of glue behind this frame keeps it in place now and everthing went back together fine. I have pics but don't have a host url to post them. I might need a refresher tutorial on posting pics...I know I've done it in other posts here.

  2. Hi Everybody! I did a short forum search and did not find anyone with this trouble. I have also searched for pictures of an open lid but have not found one. Maybe you could post a pic of your open lid's latch mechanism?

If you have a way to open the upper lid on the center console please let me know! I have tried slipping a metal ruler in there to make sure no papers are lodged in the latch, and it seems clear from what I can see by shining a light in there. Any ideas? My Glock is in there and I'm going to need it pretty soon!!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

  3. Here is Durametric's reply:

    Hello Tim,

Thank you for your interest in Durametric. We appreciate your request, however we are unable to proceed with any group buys. We have received many requests for group buys over the years, but have never allowed them. The reason we don't allow group buys is because it has an immediate effect on our regional distributors and goes against partnership agreements.

We understand that a group buy would be beneficial in many ways but unfortunately cannot take you up on the offer.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

  4. New Cayenne owner but not new to Porsche question. Are the aluminum replacement pipes replacements for the plastic pipes were talking about here? I see them advertised for $500~$600 for the kit. Is that a good price? If they are a replacement for the plastic, seems that for the money going with the aluminum ones, though more expensive, is a better solution? Here is a Ebay ad saying a 17pc kit w/coolant.

here is the aluminum replacement and location:

  5. I am thinking anyone of you who experienced break of the T connector (955-106-323-50) has European Design engines in your Cayenne which has the T connector pipe.

My CS04 is currently under repair for coolant pipes. I asked my mechanic and he ordered the T connector pipe based on part number, He also check that on the exploded views before he orders that to make sure what part it is... so far so good... when he received the part and he was ready to install it he could not find anything like this behind the engine or around... there was only a Straight Hard Plastic not a T shape one. So he did further research and told me that the European cars have this T connector and not the US Cayennes... designs are different between US and Europe Cayennes.

Do we have anyone here in US who has experienced this problem or proactively has changed this T connector on his Cayenne?

    Thanks.

    Is this the "T" connector ? http://www.renntech....__1#entry167505

If so, yes, I had it replaced.

  6. Hi Tim -- your post was timely -- this past Saturday I had a set of Latitude Tour HP's (275/45/19") installed and so far they are great. Quiet, track and handle well. That said, I have not pushed them -- and I tend to be a moderate driver.

My local dealer had them in stock and came close to the Tire Rack cost. I know I paid more, but the dealer has the proper equipment.

Have not driven in snow yet but will check back in after I do. Before these tires I was on summer tires which were a bit squirrely in light snow and cold weather.

A bit squirrely to say the least!! I was stranded on a set of P Zeros up in Angel Fire in October 2009 after a flash 14" overnight snowfall. Had to wait for the plow to clear the road; problem was no one knew we were up there! I don't see that happening again. You will love those tires!

  7. I wanted to post an update regarding my purchase 1 year ago of the 275/45-19 Michelin Latitude Tour HP's. If you have been following the weather here in north Texas you know we got blasted the first of this week and many folks are just getting out today. We have fortunately been able to get out all week to go places we needed to go, like the hospital to bring my mother-in-law home. These tires are nothing short of amazing on ice and snow, and the Cayenne impresses everyone who rode in it this week! So if you are in town for the Big Game let me know and we'll go for a spin!

  8. It's my turn to install the hitch to my truck. I don't use it to tow anything, just use it for bike-rack, so I'm not going to worry about lighting (lucky me). Any way, I click on the links on the email trail to get some instructions/photos but I guess all the links are expired. Does anyone have instructions/photos for this after market installation? It's a '04 CayenneS.

    Thank you,

    Hi,

I installed the Curt hitch some time ago. It is good quality. For the wiring I used the Hoppy adapter specifically for the Cayenne. Here are the instructions........

    Rgds,

Hi Bob! Was that a class 3 Curt hitch? And do you still have the part # for the Hoppy kit? JC Whitney has several Hopkins kits. Do you have specific part #'s please.

  9. Thanks for your feedback. I'd love to hear more before I make a decision.

Same scenario here with my '04 CTT. same failure of both the DS and PCNA to help. Got it replaced by local euro shop for just over $1K. He said it is considered a wear item in that it receives and absorbs a tremendous amount of shock when the vehicle is driven as Porsche intended (in our case to break/wear out parts as quickly as possible). I don't plan to waste any more time dealing with PCNA and their dealer network if I can possibly avoid it. They have made it clear to me on numerous occasions that their intent is to not support Cayenne ownership when situations like this arise.
