  1. Yes, you can safely drive with it open for a week or so. Just be sure to check the coolant level daily until you are sure it not dropping. makes sense, will do, thx.
  2. Hi. I drained the coolant and refilled (with the uview vacuum tool), but i think i messed up the process: while refilling, i let the fill container level get too low (it sucked in coolant a lot faster than i was ready for) and I think some air got sucked in. about 11 leters of coolant drained out, but only about 8 went back in. Resivior level is between min/max. I let the car idle for a while, reved it a little, heater on, bleed valve ope,, closed, etc. No change in fluid level and the car doesn't overheat. I don't want to drain it again. Should i just drive around with the bleeder valve in the ope (vertical) position for a while?
  3. Hi. I'm trying to do this now and I cant figure it out. I removed the singel, visible phillips screw but nothing budges. what's the next step?
  4. yep I saw those bolts too when i removed the pump and that makes sense that those really need to be sealed. I guess I'll try again with a new pump, hoping the old one was somehow defective causing it to leak.
  5. difficult to tell. it's either the bolts or the bottom half of the circular pump. I used regular bolts and put some sealant on them. regarding the bolts, I don't see how oil can leak by the bolts. the oring (and sealant in my case) is positioned before the oil from the cylinder head could get to the bolt holes. But I did put sealant around the bolts anyway.
  6. Hi. I tried *again*. ;-) This time I used a little sealant next to the new Oring. I used a non-setting sealant called Hylomar Universal Blue. New bolts, torqued to ~12 nm. Stayed dry for a couple of days, now it leaks again (though only very little so far). 'didn't know what else to do so I ordered a new pump, I'll try again with that. Even minor oil leaks annoy the heck out of me.
  7. Hi. So Energy Suspension part numbers 9.13103G and 9.13105G are boots for some of the front ball joints. What about the metal clip that typically goes around the boot? Do these not need them?
  8. ok, thx. I have a similar gasket maker sealant on hand. I plan to use both the stock oring *and* sealant. That should be ok, right?
  9. Not sure about the turning, but if the oring is not sufficient -- Is there any surface blemishes? Maybe using a "backup" gasket where you use the same material they put on for the oil sump cover. I'll be out at the shop tonite -- and look to see if that is even possible. m Thanks. both surfaces *look* smooth. I was thinking the same thing about using and oring *and* sealant (i will try that this weekend). i ask about the hard to turn thing cause, i was thinking, if it's not supposed to do that (i.e. if my pump is bad), and it did do that, it may cause undo vibration that could cause the oil to get thru.
  10. Hi. On my 2000 C2, I have a minor oil leak at the 4-5-6 cyl oil extraction pump. So I removed the 4 M6 screws. After removing the pump, when I try to turn it by hand, it turns easily but every 1/2 turn or so, it hits a point where it gets hard to turn, then easy again? Is that normal? I ask cause this is the second time I've removed/replaced (with new oring) this thing and it still leaks.
  11. Hi. I wanna run a wire from the rear of the interior (i.e. behind the rear seatbacks) to the front, driver's side footwell. The doorsill looks like it's in there pretty tight and there may not be enough space to stick a wire under there.

  13. Hi. On a 2000 C2, i have been trying to track down this annoying metallic like rattle from the rear. It happens whenever I accelerate or decelerate. not sure if it's coming from inside the cabin or not. It sounds like it may be coming from the drivers side (U. S. spec car) rear. i checked the muffler bolts on that side and the metal plates above the relay panel on that side already.
  14. Those switches have two levels of lighting. They light dimly (via the blue/red wire) whenever the headlights are turned on (even if the heated seats are not switched on). I have successfully installed footwell lights that only light up (no matter whether the heated seats are turned on or not) when the headlights switch is turned on by tapping into the blue/red heated switch seat wire.
  15. Ah yes, 15 < 40. ;-) now I don't feel so bad. But am i right that there seems to be some kind of a standard and pin 87 of most relays go to the +12V of the thing they turn on? I plan to connect pin 87 of the engine compartment blower relay to pin 87 of the left, stage 2, radiator fan. i want the engine compartment fan to turn on whenever the high speed rad fan turns on.

Looking at wiring diagrams and reading other posts, I thought I knew what I was doing ;-) I thought relay 87 (say in the radiator fan relays or the engine compartment blower relay) went to the positive end of said motor. And if the DME wanted to turn on said motor it would send +12V thru pin 87. i removed the engine compartment fan relay, and supplied +12V (from the cig lighter) to see if the engine compartment fan would spin. It didn't and I blew the cig lighter fuse. fuse replaced, no harm done (cept my ego). How do relays work? what is the purpose of each pin (specially pin 87?
  17. found it. it's the red/blue wire. it comes on when the headlights or parking lights are on, even if the heated seats are not.
  18. Hi. looking to tap in 12v that comes on when the headlights are on. The seat heater switches light up when the headlights are on, so I wanted to tap into that. but, of course there are a lot (5) of wires attached to that switch cause it also controls the heated seats. Which one makes it light up?
  19. You can buy inexpensive hand fluid pumps at most auto parts stores. I just did this job. pretty easy. I re-used the same plug. The plug doesnt use a crush washer as I originally thought. It has an embedded, non-replace-able oring. I dont think it will leak, but I'll re-post if it does.
  20. I know there are two (no more right?) relay boxes. The other is in the rear parcel tray behind the driver. but is there a list of *each* individual relay, and what they do, for each box?
  21. or maybe I could connect pin 87 from one of the high speed fan relays to pin 87 of the engine compartment fan relay.
