got my first one at 58.
In response to her joking that it was 'another" mid-life crisis, I said "Well it's better than a blonde" and without missing a beat she responded: "...and it's cheaper, too!"

i had this samr floaty unstable experience at speeds over 80. I had khumo tires. when i switched tp Michelin ps2s and put 14mm speaces in front and 7mm in rear feeling went away. don't know which was the factor, probably mostly the tires

here's a very basic question:
did your car come with a fixed rear wing?
i've seen a rash of cars with incomplete aerokits. if you have a fixed rear spoiler without a corresponding front lip you'll experience float and the car is unsafe to drive at speed.
nope, no wing. i'll take it in for an alignment

The tires require a lot of pressure and handling, especially high speed will deteriorate if they are under inflated. Go by the manual and you should notice a big difference. The ride is usually harsher with more pressure and most tires I've used will loose air and need to be filled fairly often.
I'm sure the tire pressures are ok, the tire brand i'm not sure of. i thought maybe an air dam or lowering the car was the common solution but i'm beginning to think it's just the difference i feel between a heavy car and the porsche. i will check the front end next time it's on the rack. thanks!

01 Tiptronic C2 Cab- 62K
Kuhmo Ecsta SPT XL tires 6k miles
Newbee here to both Porsche and this site. When either accelerating rapidly to say 90 or so and even when staying around that speed for some time, my 01 996 Cab seems very light in the front end. The steering gets very loose and somewhat scary. :o The car just doesn't feel "planted" or stable My other car is a big heavy LS430 and it is very solid to 100+. The cab is entirely stock US. Is this to be expected in a 911, does it require a "dealer" visit, or what is the best inexpensive fix (besides slowing down) that might correct this "problem, if it is indeed a problem? The car is otherwise fine. -
i've run my 95 LS400 on 87 octane for 10 years with zero problems other than reduced power.

Bud: I'm 67 and somewhat conservative...I had a long talk with Darin before I went ahead with the mod....and it wasn't too loud for me.... I honestly don't think you'll be disappointed. You can still hold conversations and listen to the radio....at least as well as you can with the wind blowing over a dropped top. He has several iterations now....some a bit more sedate than others.
which mod did you get the I or II...i'm really interested in the louder modII. also how's the interior cabin noise with yop up?

Tools Pants can give the details - but yes.

C2 Cab Tiptronic
darin offers 2 Mods for the 01 C2, a Mod I and a Mod II. Can any Cab owner out there with either Mod tell me how they liked it...was MK I too quiet after a while or is Mod II sound overwhelming for A Cab? Oh yea, I'm 55 but love the sound, just don't want it consistently too loud for normal driving. Thanks ! (yes, i've heard them on youtube).
Starter need replacement?

In replacing the corroded battery cable on my 2001 Carrera cab, my mechanic noted that the starter bolt in the 1 o'clock position continues to turn on itself and will not remain fixed for tightening (see circle in photo). Any idea on the cause? The car just went over 100K so while everything is exposed I'm thinking of replacing it, the AOS, plugs and coils along with leaking cam cover seals. The water pump and belt are new...anything else to look at or replace on a 100K engine? It has original IMS and RMS with no sign of leakage.
