$1100 here at stevens creek porsche, $700~$900 at some indies.
most items are easy to DIY, even the spark plugs job is doable.
Thanks for the reply. I assume you work for a Porsche dealer based on your response. If so, or even if not, I was wondering if you could give me any advice on what I should be looking for in a Cayenne that has 68k miles on it. I've read through the forum and found the common issues like cracked ignition coils, plastic coolant pipes cracking, and drive train issues (?). Is 68k miles even "a lot" of miles for a 2005 Cayenne?
Obviously it depends on how the car was treated, what type of miles it has on it, etc. But, 68k miles just doesn't seem like a lot to me regardless. I should mention the car was CPOed by Porsche 2 years and 30k miles ago.
Thanks again,
Jason
no, i don't work for a dealer. that was what i got last time when i visited the local porsche dealer. obviously they increased the price. i was quoted for $900 for the same service in 2009. the general maintenance work is pricey if you get it done at a dealer
the only issues i had so far was a loose worn head light connector. a dealer usually charges you a few hundred bucks to get a new head light unit in this case.
now i am having a brake booster related issue which could be caused by a dying battery. we'll see.

I'm pretty much sure that the old fluid is "Pentosin CHF 11 S" which is superseded by the new "PENTOSIN CHF 202". I need to add some fluid to the steering system. Is it safe to mix them? Thanks.
The Pentosin CHF 202 container states that it is fully compatible with the CHF 11S, but is not compatible with the older CHF 7.........
Thank you. Can I assume that the older CHF 7 was never used in Cayennes?

bought a used remote + uncut blade off ebay.
stealer charged $85 to cut the blade while saying the remote is incompatible with my cayenne and wanted me to buy a new remote :o
both the remotes have the same FCC ID: KR55WK45032 CAN: 267 104 187. don't why the new one is incompatible
by the way, the whole new key/remote/reprogramming package from them is $450

the warning disappeared and has been good so far for two days...

I just sent an email to Sunset - I'll let you know what I hear back.
It's vehicle specific and the parts aren't always listed in PET; some are seals and/or crush rings with upper and lower fill and drain plugs. Suggest you send a request to Sunset via the link under "Special Offers". Their service is outstanding.
thank you for the update. will do
-
My local dealer couldn't find the sealing rings. I guess they are using the same PET program...

In order to have the correct amount of oil in the transmission you need to fill it until fluid emerges from the fill hole when the fluid is 40C. So really you need a durametric or equivalent to do it like Porsche wants. You can change probably over 80% of the fluid without opening the cooler lines. The fill process gets more complicated if you open the cooler lines as well.
Thank you for your input, my friend. Too bad that Durametric doesn't support monitoring the transmission fluid temperature right now. Rumors are V6.0 non-beta software will support it.

It happened again.
Got the brake code:
P1431
Brake Booster System - Signal Implausible
(The brake system is working just fine at the same time)
Got another code in electrical system simultaneously:
Fault code 0907
Load management operation on vehicle electrical system/
DME control module
Possible causes of fault
♦ 'no display' Loads are/were switched off temporarily. The load
management operation was enabled because of undervoltage.
Also noticed that this usually happens when the car has a few back to back short trips in one day.
All these above makes me wonder if I need to get a new battery for my cayenne (80k on the clock)...
-
Greg,
Don't beat yourself up on because of that. I just added it after you asked the question. :P
I will talk to my local dealer first to see if they have anything in stock. If no luck I will contact Sunset Imports.
