  1. If the additional grounds have already been done then it comes back to the seat belt buckle. If the TSB has not been done - then it should be. PM me if you need instructions.

Some have cleaned the belt contacts and gotten a couple more years out of them but eventually they will wear out and need replacement.

Thanks for the reply. I've attached a picture of the ground connection; due the extra wires, can we presume that the TSB has already been completed? If it matters, I have the standard seats with memory seat option but no heat.

  2. Is it possible to determine if the repair kit has already been installed? Car is a '99 Carrera. My airbag light is being triggered by the driver's side seat buckle. The image below is the end of the buckle connector under my driver's seat. The wires have clearly been spliced, and to remove the seat completely from the car, I would need to cut the blue and yellow shrink-wrapped wires. Those splices bypass the connector and go directly into the loom.

First step is to order some of the DeOxit spray and give everything a good cleaning, but if that fails, do I need a new seatbelt buckle, or the buckle and the repair kit?

Currently the light is off, as a local shop did the read/reset for me. And it has remained off for a few trips since then, though I don't want to drive too much until this is resolved.

    Thanks!

  3. Okay, finally pulled out the seat today. Everything was attached as it should be and there was nothing obviously wrong- until I pulled out the gas strut. That thing will not budge! Guess that would explain why the seat is stuck at the full-up position. cool.gif Next up is to find a replacement strut and get it back together. Can't wait to sit at a more comfortable level!

  4. These are standard seats, so the height adjuster is manual. I peaked underneath using a mirror, and can see that the lever is connected to the cable that actuates the hydraulic strut (it looks the same on both sides), so the problem is further along. See part #20 here. I've got the torx sockets now, just need to find some time to pull the seat out and see what it looks like underneath!

  5. I recently picked up an '03 986S with standard seats, and the driver side seat height adjuster seems to be broken. I can make the adjustment on the passenger side without any issues. The driver side lever moves freely and does not appear to be connected to anything.

Any thoughts about what the issue might be? I would really like to get this resolved as it's stuck at full up and that is way too high for my comfort!

    :thankyou:
