  1. I'm going to replace the inner tie rods on my 02 C2 Cab to see if I can finally get rid of the rattle. Do I need one or two boots/clamp sets? Thanks!
  2. I ordered lower suspension arms from them with replaceable balljoints, they sent the wrong ones, had to have my car on jacks for 3 weeks until I got the right ones. They don't replace the bushings, so you're paying the same as TRW arms with new ball joints and bushings. Ordered sway bar joints, sent 2 left hand sides, gave up and just got some from Napa. The lower price isn't worth the hassle. And full disclosure on the control arms would have been nice. There are tons of reliable folks out there, no point in being seduced with low cost, as you tend to get what you pay for.
  3. According to Gert, the x74 kit is no longer available from Porsche, would have to find one still in stock somewhere or piece it together yourself. I checked on the piecing together option, and it's pricey. :(
  4. I wouldn't go lower than the x74. Would you also change sway bars or are the stock ones sufficient? Just looking to make the car handle better and of course, look better. thanks Loren, you are the porsche knowledge fount. I could not own this car if it wasn't for this forum, the maintenance would kill me.
  5. Looks that way Loren, what would be a good way to get the same ride height? From the posts it seems that the x74 is preferred over the M030. It's looking like approximating the x74 would be >4k.
  6. According to Gert the x74 kit is no longer available.
  7. I've had zero luck with Vertex, cannot recommend them for anything
  8. Loren, I have 000 044 500 31 as the part number for a x74 kit, 2002 C2 cab. The price seems awfully cheap at ~1300, as Gert had them for 2800 Euros. Do I have the right part number? Or is it for M030 kit? Thank you!
  9. Thank you Maurice! How much stuff do you need to take off the front of the top to get to the spring?
  10. The inner metal cable is broken, stretched, or has come loose either where it is anchored at the back under the B-Pillar frame member or at the front where it attaches to the spring on the aluminum shoulder plate (one on each side). Does anyone have a picture of where the spring Maurice refers to is located?
  11. Well it was a partial victory, I adjusted the cables in the back, under the clamshell and the top no longer rattles. However the kink midway is still there, my best guess is that the cable along the side is stretched, everything else looks ok. It appears to be "non adjustable". Any ideas? I know if I could find someone who was a bit old school, they could shorten the cable a bit. I hate to think that the only option is a new top. It still looks great.
  12. Does any one know how to fix this? The top curls on the drip rail.
  13. Can someone post a picture of the cables? My top rattles and annoys the hell out of me. I can't find the cables.
  14. Just really can't begin to say how bad Vertex is, first of all the wishbones are essentially the same price as the TRW ones, as they don't refund the core charge like the are supposed to. Sure the Vertex wishbones have replaceable ball-joints, but really, how big of a deal is this? Plus the Vertex wishbones do not have new bushings, so for the same price you can get new wishbones, with new bushing and ball joints. I actually feel silly ever dealing with them. On the plus side, the sway bar links solved the front end noise. Live and learn.
  15. Now I'm used to lousy service, it's the world in which we live. Vertex has somehow managed to transcend into the realm of how they stay in business is beyond me. I ordered lower wishbones with the screw in ball joint, the picture on their website is the correct one, the one with the boss/hole that allows for litronic headlights. Now keep in mind there is no way Porsche would make two different wishbones, so it's a model issue, likely V1 to V2. Ok fine, sent the other back and they put screw in ball joints in, fair enough. I go to put the drivers side back together and they sent two right hand side sway bar links. Inexcusable. So now I can either deal with them or eat the 40 bucks or so and just go somewhere else. I think I'll go somewhere else. I would caution against doing business against them. The pennies you save in no way make up for the hassle.
  16. No hole where it needs to be, I had thought about going ghetto and zip tying it to the wishbone, but decided against it. This is definitely not a car one can easily work on, sure, once you know the tricks its ok. All about knowing the tricks.
  17. I can't see Porsche making two different sets of wishbones. I can see there being a difference when litronic lights were offered. Regardless, vertex should know better, the sucky part is while yes, they are a bit cheaper, it's a wash when your car sits on jacks for two weeks and you pay shipping twice
  18. Loren, what is the sensor for? I thought it was for the roll bars.
  19. what is even more annoying is that I just checked the vertex site and the picture they have is the correct lower wishbone.
  20. Sorry Loren, lower wishbone. I don't think I can use these as there is no way to mount the sensor. I'm concerned and don't know if I should take the pass side one back off. What a bummer, was really looking forward to seeing what difference new parts made.
  21. Went to replace the front control arms and sway bar bushings on my 2002 C2 Convertible. Got the ones from vertexauto with the replaceable ball joints. Started with the passenger side, easy breazy. Now here is where it goes bad, the control arms on a convertible are different than a coupe. You won't see the difference until you get to the drivers side, there is a sensor mounted on the control arm, the ones that I got from vertex did not have the boss to mount the sensor. What is annoying is that there is no prompt on their website for coupe or convertible. They should know better. Now it's pay the shipping back and wait while car is up on jackstands in the driveway. To me this is just poor service. They should have known better.
  22. Hi there, time to replace my control arms, I cannot for the life of me find the place that sells the upgraded control arms with screw in ball joints. Any clues?
  23. That's the part, except my is broken, not too bad if I have to buy the whole part.
