  1. I went with the Sumitomo HTR Z II's $550.00 delivered from tirerack, I asked around, my buddy has them on his Boxster, a guy at work has them on his 996. I do not pitch my car into corners, mostly just cruise up and down the coast, it is a daily driver, I just couldn't pay 2X for N on the side of the tire.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on my 996 C4. They were cheaper than N rated tyres but they're not as good. They tend to feel less stable when cornering at speed compared to the P Zeroes I had before which would tend to support the sidewall strength theory.

On the plus side they seem to be lasting forever (in Porsche terms). 7,000 miles on the rears and still 5-6mm of tread, fronts have 7mm at 8,000 !!

Having said that I'll probably try Conti's next time around. Harder wearing than P Zeroes but still N rated. I'd spend the extra cash if I were you

  2. I am in the midst of changing the pass side regulator, can someone dechipher this for me?

Disconnect (3) the bowden cable (arrow and electrical plug connection - Disconnect electrical plug connection from the microswitch for the door handle 9 and orientation lighting 10. Press lugs of the plastic clip (arrow A) and pull out towards the rear. Carefully push the bowden cable 8 back into the end piece of the sleeve.

Where is this at? Is there any way some one could post a pic of this? or point me to a pic if already posted?

  3. Hmm, don't really know if i would want to open the top while moving.

I cannot believe this car, I am stunned, it is engineering porn.

    Hello,

Yes, that is correct. From the factory, you can open the top with the key in door (hold it to the unlock position), with the key in the ignition and the engine off, or with the engine running and the parking brake on.

There are aftermarket kits that allow you to open / close the top at up to 30 mph, but I have no experience with them.

  4. Loren, is the sealing material the buytl cord or the film?

996.542.076.04 Right window regulator (same part for coupe, cab, and Targa) -- US MSRP $218.82

Perhaps the plastic is 000.043.204.38 Sealing material -- US MSRP $22.29

The plastic tabs are either grey or white - I think you need to check your old ones first because I think the size is different.

    999.507.505.40 Grey clip (8 required) -- US MSRP $0.38

    999.507.582.40 White clip (8 required) -- US MSRP $0.38

477.813.157 Fastening plate (washer for spare) -- US MSRP $19.73

    996.572.567.01.01C battery cover -- US MSRP $13.78

you may also need 999.590.045.40 Screw plug (hold down for battery cover) -- US MSRP $0.77 each (2 required)

Sorry, I don't see enough Cabs to know which part you mean - can you take a picture and post it?

  5. Loren, you are amazing, thank you. I will post a pic of the other part when i get home.

  6. Hi there,

I am replacing the pass. side window regulator and need to know the part number for the thin plastic film for waterproofing, sometimes called foam (actually don't know if it is plastic or not, it is the one that everyone cautions to be careful removing, held on with buytl). Also if there are any other items I should replace like the plastic tabs that hold the door panel on please let me know also.

I also need the battery cover, washer for the spare tire holddown, and the little lens that goes on the little hold down area for the top, the place when the latch pulls the top down, it's about an inch long, half inch wide, one on either side.

2002 C2 Cab, seal grey, US model

    Thank you
