Steve, I've found my 997 oil level is very sensitive to ground level. If leaning to the right slightly it reads lower then if leaning to the left. A small amount of lean in mine can move it by 2 segments, ie 0.8 liters! How do you know your ground is so level? Do you always park in the garage facing the same direction? If you've got a slight sideways lean then your level may vary if you drive in forwards or reverse in to your garage. Pressure wise, mine when fully warmed up idles at about 2.5 bar, increasing to 5 bar with less then 3k revs. From what I've read not a problem at all, in fact can be a good thing.

I've found out parking on left side of my road, (car tilts slightly to the left) gives an approx 800ml (2 segments) higher reading than parking opposite on the right side of the road (car tilts slightly to the right). Just street curvature for water drainage.

Re-measured again in a flat multistory car park. It needed to add another half litre to get to 1/3 full. I think the 2/3 full measurement must have been wrong. Will only measure where I know ground is definitely level from now on.

Thanks White. I've got a 250 mile drive to make tmrw so will have to wait till I return. Afraid of adding much more oil in case of over filling. I might try and get someone to have a look at it before I go.

Recently bought an '05 997 S. The electonic oil level indicator showed oil was below min. Added 0.25 litre oil. 5 mins later oil level reading is unchanged. Added another .25 litre. Leave 5 mins, let electonic dipstick do its thing. Now reads 2/3rd full. I figure the reading after first 0.25 litres must have been wrong. 4 days later after filling petrol electronic indicator auto measures oil, says its below min again. Measure again at home, still below min. Measured again 1st thing in the morning so fully cold/drained and still says below min. Can't see any obvious oil leaks. Oil pressure is fine, cold starts at 5, drops after warming. Can't find much info on electronic loil evel indicator problems. Any suggestions?
