Considering picking up this 1996 911 C4S; Ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ht_21103wt_1066
It's got 87K miles, and apparently has the following needs:
Replace Engine Compartment Lid Shocks
Replace Trunk Lid Shocks
Replace Drivers Window Switch
Reseal Engine
Reseal Transmission
Reseal Front Differential
Reseal Power Steering Rack
Front and Rear Brakes
Front Tires
Diagnose Check Engine Light
Think its going to go for around 24K - Worth bidding or stay away?
eBay car buying is never a good idea unless you or someone you know can look at the car before your purchase. Also, this car clearly needs a ton of work. Knowing how bad prices are for parts, I would stay away from this one. If you really want a 993, wait this one out for a better example. PPI is ALWAYS a good idea, even after having a ton of research under your belt. Good luck with the search!
Seinfeld Did Not Get The Last 911 (993) or Did He?

Whatever the case may be of its order on the production line, I would try to not forget that your car is a machine that is meant to be driven. Letting it sit is actually bad because it dehydrates the car's rubber seals, guibo (if it has one, not sure on these cars), o-rings, and bushings.
While it may be interesting to find out whether Jerry Seinfeld's car is in fact the latest production 993, I wouldn't stop driving the car is a result of it. You bought a high performance driving machine. Use it!
Finally, I would pay attention to the digits that come before the last digits which you seem to be judging the car's production number off of. Seinfeld's says "2998" while yours says "2992". This could have been a certain batch of cars that went through the "custom" line that your car was on, in which case your car is 6 batches behind. Again, I'm not familiar with Porsche's number system, but this could be the case. I would think that if Jerry Seinfeld wanted the last production Porsche, thats exactly what he got.
