  1. CJ-

I'm only gonna say this once in this forum...as many people in the other Boxster forums have warned you about messing with these cars. STOP!!! You were warned about the "mods" you've been doing to this car and now your having troubles. Coincidence?!?!?! I think not. These cars are picky and most people who have done mods to these cars end up spending a considerable amount of money to correct their mistakes.

    OK---done ranting. Sorry...

  2. Check your drainage holes around the top. There are several if you open your top halfway and look around the bottom of the top. They may have gotten clogged and the water can only go into the car.

BTW- If I remember correctly...the computer is under the seats! Dry it up quick...cause your talking thousands to replace this piece!

  3. When I release the handbrake after the car sat sits for the night a loud "popping" noise can be heard. Like the brake rusted and is snapping free. While driving my car I can pull up on the handbrake lightly and a very noticeable, yet softer, pop/thud noise is always heard. Suggestions?

  4. All services can be done yourself...very easy to do. Just make sure you have basic hand tools and as much info with you as to what you are planning to do. Get the Bentley book or print out "how to" info from this site and others. Working on this "exotic" Porsche has been easier than working on my Vettes' and Z-28s' from the late '90s. The only thing you can't "professionally" do is look over the car for common problems as a competant Porsche Master Tech can. But if the car feels right...you won't have any problems and you will save yourself thousands in costs and learn A LOT about the car! Good Luck!

  5. I currently own a 2000 Boxster S and am looking to move to the Carrera soon. Preferably a C4 or C4S Model. I absolutely love the turbo style body. The flared rear looks great and the front bumper cover and headlights look wonderful. From what I have seen these changes were made in the 2002 model year. Is this correct? What are the differences between the C4 and C4S Coupes between 2002 and 2004 (Prior to the 997)? Same engines? Same bodies? There don't seem to be many C4 Coupes for sale. Lots of C4S cars though. Thanks for the help!!!!

Let me ask this differently...Between 2002 and 2004, is the turbo style body only on the C4S or both the C4 and C4S? Also...the engine remains the same for both vehicles for these years, right? So what are the differences? The brakes? The suspension?

  7. Pull back the carpeting and take a look. It now sounds like a tank leak. Not the cap. The coolant leaking from the tank will pool in the rear right corner of the trunk. The carpeting is pretty dense and I am not sure if coolant from under the carpeting can "leak" up through the carpeting creating a wet area.

  8. I had the same problem 1 month ago with the condensation in the trunk. I replaced the cap to the "new" cap ending in part number .01. Not a problem since...all water has stayed in the tank and it was a $20 fix! Can't go wrong...give it a try...change your cap regardless if it ends in .00!

    Bets of luck...

    Paul

  9. UPDATE--

I replaced the coolant cap with the new ".01" style and after driving 70 miles yesterday the coolant in the tank stayed steadly between the low and high marks on the overflow tank. Also, there was NO moisture on the underside of my rear trunk lid! I now believe the old style coolant cap was allowing some water vapor to escape. Soooo, if you are loosing small amounts of coolant at a time and have the old cap, go spend the $20 bucks and try the new cap first. This very well may be your problem! :clapping:

Thanks to all for the opinions!
