  1. We don't have those here in the US. Most of us have never seen anything like it.

At the rate our taxes will be going up after our friends in Washington figure out how us taxpayers will have to line up to pay off the debt & national healthcare we'll have lots of these 'tax disc holders' on our cars. :censored:  :censored:

lol @ AP - just be happy you're not in canada... 7-8% much better than 15% !

I still dont know what that thing is? you put candy in it? can you take a pic with it in place on the car?

  2. so you are saying there's only 1 GT3 RS in all of ontario based on your registry? I find that hard to believe

I believe it. GT3 RS owners either lock their cars up in the garage and keep as queens or are track junkies. They do not have time for the internet! :D

Add a third GT3 RS to Ontario, GTA area.. Pfaff Porsche now has a White GT3 RS for sale with 7300 km on it

    So far that is 2 Black/Black/Orange and 1 White/Black/Black

  3. If you mean passenger side it might be the connector for a CD changer.

Does you car have one? If not, I suspect that's what it is.

    No cd changer, just Nav

    j

Well then it's the connector for the CD changer.

It's included on all 997's whether or not a CD changer is fitted.

    That's why these cars cost so much . . . . . it's those unused parts. (lol) :) :)

that is. I used it to install mine, its suppsed to be hidden inside the carpet though... nudge it back under :)

  4. Hi everyone,

I am looking at a low mileage CPO C2S that has the Bose High End sound package, Sport Chrono Plus and the 6 Disc changer but no navigation. Is it a possible to put in the factory nav unit? I'd be interested in keeping the stock unit, despite the limitations of the factory system. I am not looking for instructions, more of just a yes/no if it can be done.

    Thanks!

This should take you 45minutes to 2.5 hours based on how familiar you are with the vehicle but as Loren mentioned it is not a difficult process at all. I have seen the TSBs and used them myself to install the changer, took me 30 minutes.

  5. Picked up a new 2009 C4S 6-speed 7/11. After ~ 200 miles, the "check engine" light came on. I had put gas in about 25 miles earlier. I checked the gas cap - it appeared to be tight. Talked to the dealer's service rep - was told not to worry if the light was not flashing and the car drove "normally." Well, the light is not flashing and I don't feel competent to evaluate if the car drives "normally" yet. I have been gentle and staying below 4000 rpm (the car had 34 miles on it). The dealer said the light may reset itself after 3-4 days anyway. As I live ~75 miles from the dealer, I don't want to drive it back if It is not necessary or if I will do some harm. Any advice? Thanks!!

Update: was out of town for 4 days. Took the car to the dealer today. Noticed a rough idle and varying rpms while idling. Dealer said the code had cleared itself, but the code showed a defective valve solenoid. They have to overnight a replacement from Atlanta. They hope to have it back to me in 1 - 2 days.

Anyone heard of this with the new DFI 3.8s? TIA

    Update #2

Dealer called and said the new solenoid did not clear the fault. He told me that "bank #2" is not communicating correctly with the solenoid and therefore not opening the intake valves correctly (?) I assume this has something to do with the variocam and which cam profile to follow, but I work on people not cars. They are contacting Porsche for further instructions.

I bought the 2009 to avoid issues with the RMS and IMS on the previous design. Anyone aware of this issue? How concerned should I be ???

Aren't you glad you took the car in instead of having to deal with many more issues at a later stage? Keep us updated on this and how it develops.

  6. Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the PCM in a 2008 C4S Cab with the new 3.0 version available in the 2009 models? My local dealer was looking into it, but seemed to loose interest. Would I be better off just replacing it with an after market? The version in my 2008 model is a real POS...

I asked my dealer when i had a CD stuck in my PCM 2 and they said the whole unit would have to be replaced; so I specifically looked into replacing it with the new PCM 3 and they told me that it would not work as the way PCM 3 communicates with the rest of the systems is different than PCM 2...

Just what they told me and I left it at that, would be curious to see if anyone has actually attempted this

  7. I don't think that is a real one. A true Porsche lover would never park it like that! And they would never go furniture shopping.

Always an end spot, far away from other cars and shopping carts. Up-wind on a windy day.

He was at the liquor store! haha

Doesnt the RS come standard with the rollcage? I don't see it... I thought you were joking at first but coule this be..... ?

  8. The last owner of my 997 C2S seemed to chip the back of the driver seat and it is bothering me. The dealer said to go to a hobby shop to match the color. The main problem I have is that I am color blind and wife wife thinks I am a bit obsessive and will not go to a hobby shop with me. I am sure someone else has solved this problem. Thanks.

I am in the same boat... perhaps I'll pay the hobby shop a visit and see what I can find for the both of us... the ex-owner's golf clubs have put some scratches on the back of mine as well.

  9. Same happens to me and at red lights too, hehe.

As others mentioned, way to avoid would be to downshift to 1 right before you roll into a stop, that works. But I still fail to do that once in a while, so I get her going in 2. But the issue is perfectly normal and has happened in my other vehicles as well, guess it has to do with the way the gearbox teeth line up.

  10. The Bose amp is located as you mentioned in the trunk. Just remove the panel that covers the tools and the amp is mounted on the rear vertical wall. Two (2) captive plastic fasteners hold the cover in place.

You might be able to spot the amp label that has the part number info but I doubt it. The amp is secured on each end with a sliding fastener. Just remove the connector and slide the fasteners to remove the amp. Once out you'll spot the part number data.

    Hope this helps.

Hello AP 997S - thanks again for your help - everything went just fine today - all softwares updated (3.0 now), sounds great - Amp Actual really reflects what the MOST test of the device returns.

    Have a good day!

    Vladimir

Where do you guys get the update disks? what are the main advantages of upgrading to 3.0?

  11. Hey guys,

A friend of mine is looking to get into a 997, he's pretty strict about having sport seats along with a few other options... long story short he's found some with all other options he wants except sport seats, is there anywhere you would recommend he looked to buy a set of sport seats (or perhaps trade his)?

I recall finding a site a while back with a whole bunch of seats for sale, but can't remember the name

  12. Folks,

I am getting back into 911's (yeah baby). And about to purchase a 05 997 C2S coupe. Fully loaded, Navi, Bose, Sport Chorno, 6 Speed. with 21K miles on it and solid mint condition. Local car. Upon inspection by a local Porsche dealer they found the RMS leak, which is being fixed under the extended warranty that the seller has. 3/36....till end of 2011 or 56K miles.

    paying 44.5K for it.

From my research it sounds like a good deal and we have a deal. Wanted to put it out there to reaffirm. Also anything else I should be looking out for? I have read about the IMS issue, but my understanding is, it is rare and since I do have the extended warranty, if the engine blows, it will be covered by it.

    Anything else to look for?

    Thanks.

Good deal Noor, very similar to what I drive! Warranty is an excellent bonus you're getting with the car! That's one thing I wish I got.

congrats if you buy it, put up some pics

  13. This morning when I started up my 2008 C2 coupe, the PCM screen displayed the following error message: "System Error: Navigation System, Amplifier Not Available." I've attempted to attach a picture that I took of the screen.

Has anyone seen this error message before and/or know how to fix it?

After this message was displayed, the Navigation System didn't work and I couldn't get any sound from the radio/cd player. The good news is that when I turned the car off and then on again, the PCM operated normally. However, I'm afraid that it could happen again.

Seems to me your amplifier located in the loggage compartment is faulty/disconnected. Open up the hood, and detach the cover on the bottom and make sure the wire attachement piece to the amp is secured (latch on the bottom of the block needs to be pushed up all the way for the plug to go in all the way). If that is okay, and it happens regularly, probably a bad amp, should be replaced under warranty and a 10 minute job.
