  1. Be a little careful with torrent downloads of the update software. They do not contain any instructions on using the ISO imges , if the file is corrupt you can turn the PCM into a brick. There is no reset for the PCM if the software update is corrupted or fails , even your porsche agent cannot help. The update will only allow your PCM to overcome compatability isues with aftermarket devices such as the mobridge , and the ability to use newer maps than 2004. There is a lot of fiction about the update enabling Mp3 playback, this is rubbish , it doesn't as the hardware in the PCM doesnt support Mp3 playback on pre MY 2006 cars.

Thanks Berty, I was lucky enough to have everything settled up/ The reason for upgrade was - exactly right - compatibility issues with Mobridge - now it all works as it was supposed to.

    All the best from Moscow!

  2. The Bose amp is located as you mentioned in the trunk. Just remove the panel that covers the tools and the amp is mounted on the rear vertical wall. Two (2) captive plastic fasteners hold the cover in place.

You might be able to spot the amp label that has the part number info but I doubt it. The amp is secured on each end with a sliding fastener. Just remove the connector and slide the fasteners to remove the amp. Once out you'll spot the part number data.

    Hope this helps.

Hello AP 997S - thanks again for your help - everything went just fine today - all softwares updated (3.0 now), sounds great - Amp Actual really reflects what the MOST test of the device returns.

    Have a good day!

    Vladimir

Where do you guys get the update disks? what are the main advantages of upgrading to 3.0?

Google and torrent did that for me...as for the advantage - I have replaced CDC with Mobridge box which allows me to use my iPod. With SW ver 1 - any time I turn on the ignition I would hear a whistling sound from Mobridge, which will not go until I switch to FM and back to CDC. No more problems with that now with SW 3.0

But fom most of us - ability to use the latest Nav disks is the reason.

    Regards,

    Vladimir

  4. This might help!

According to the "PCM2.1 and BOSE Amplifier spare parts requirements" before updating to Model Level A, you must first check to see if you have the correct Bose amplifier.

It states any Bose amp having part number 997.645.333.04 or 997.645.333.05 must be replaced with 997.645.334.22 or newer.

    Thanks AP 997S!

Actually the thread you mentioned is the one that stopped me from immediate upgrade...anyway - 2 questions remain:

    - how do I find out the amp PN - the amp is located at the bottom of the trunk if I am wright - but the only things I can see without replacing it is the radiator and cooler...

    - as for the CDs - I guess I shall start with CD2 first?

    Thanks again,

    Vladimir

  5. Hello Gentlemen,

early '05 997 C2. Multimedia CDs arrived - but having browsed through the forums I am still concerned - my Software versions is 1.0, and the BOSE amp info shows the following:

    Unit: Amplifier

    Target: 00016400 / 3531

    Actual: 00017500 / 3504

    Entered: Yes

    Found: Yes

So - what is the actual Amp version installed - 16400 or 17500? And if it is 16400 - I guess upgrading the PCM software will brick it?

    Thanks for any help,

    Regards from Moscow,

    Vladimir

  6. Interesting..... Perhaps Loren or RFM (moderators) can give some advice here. Perhaps the inclement weather in Moscow could attribute to your coils going bad. I always wanted to go to Moscow. Perhaps I'll fly out and give you a hand with the fix!

Welcome Phillip! I cannot promise good weather or real big PorscheClub events - we've had too many Porsche clubs since I had my first 924 - but showaround is guaranteed ;-)

  7. How many miles are on your car? Seems unlikely that you would need plugs and coil packs if you have low mileage. I would think you would have to use the Porsche PIWIS tester to diagnose the issue further.

Well it's 70,000km - which is less then 45k miles...my concern is that all coils or plugs just can not go down simultaneously - and when I clear the error code it takes me another couple of months to see it...

    Regards,

    Vladimir

  8. I have a 2002 911 TT with misfire in cylinders 4, 5 and 6. It is still in the shop but those ignition coils are being replaced -- they had electrical resistance too large. Also replacing all the spark plug since at 51k miles it close enough to the next service interval. I will let you know when I learn more.

    Thanks a lot Bill,

the problem is that I have all 6 cylinders misfire. Happens not too often - every 2 months or so...anyway - appreciate any news!

    Regards,

    Vladimir

  9. Hello colleagues,

my Check Engine light came up and I used Durametric to identify error codes - those are P0300, 301-306. My serviceman suggests to replace all sparks and ignition coils - which I feel is quite costy...and may be useless.

Also, there must be a different cause - maybe fuel pump? Why would all cylinders misfire simultaneously?

Thank you very much in advance and regards from Moscow,

    Vladimir
