that is a cool video bro.
i only have to mount my acceleration pedal sensor left and off to the
muffler shop. The main question is to my fellow porsche guru,
if i was to sell my car in a month or 2 how much do you think a
project like this is worth?
-
This is my daily car that i got done building.
This was the other toy i had to fix, it had a rear main seal leak,
This was my study guide and reference guide as i pin by pin to know where to pin
each wire so that the A8 harness from the engine is intergrated to the porsche harness
and if i was to disconnect it would be easy.
I use the A8 ECU, Boxster transmission ECU, A8 cluster for immobiliser, A8 ignition lock
cylinder with the sensor on there, A8 central locking module( which i don't think i really needed to
make the car start)
This is the A8 that i raped
Here is the pix of the tranny with the new Torque converter by " precision"
They didn't know how to build it for me, so i gave them my idea, and it worked.
the idea was to use a Porsche Torque converter, with the A8 back cover so i can
bolt the converter to the A8 Flexplate. They had to cut the converter from the A8 that i
gave them in half at the weld, and cut the new boxster converter and mate them up.
But once they was done they balanced it, and i got back and install it and mate up the
tranny and engine, but there is a problem. somehow the center plate was small, i have
no idea what happen, so i have no choice but to bring the plate to the machine shop to
have them machine the hole a little bit bigger, the middle is the porsche with the bigger
opening but the bolt pattern doesn't match to the crank, the lower is the A8 but the hole
is to small the converter center shaft doesn't fit. the upper is the A8 with the center hole
bored out at the machine shop.

ok, sorry it took me long, to come back on this forum.
i was working on my J-swap Integrea DBW, with A/C cause i live in the south.
Plus i plan on using the Integra as my daily driver, which it is at the moment.
ok back to the porsche, the beast started up, and i will post a video of it idling.
it doesn't have any exhaust at this moment, just straight headers. i'm thinking of
using the down pipe off the A8 running to the back, then i have to mount the acceleration
pedal sensor somehow so it can work with the porsche cable, by using the porsche throttle cable
to pull the A8 acceleration pedal sensor in the engine bay that way i don't have to stretch the wires
to the dash. I'll just mount it somewhere in the engine compartment and route the porsche cable
to pull it when i apply gas. once that is done i have to work on radiator hose, i have a custom hose shop
around the corner so i have to make some bends with a hanger and measure my diameter and bring it to
them.Once that is done , and have them also build my power steering line from A8 pump to porsche fitting,
then i can tow it to the custom muffler shop. once done, than its the test drive, and up for sale.

I Chose this Project because of several reasons.
1. I melted my piston on my engine, and pitted the cylinder wall, therefore i need a new engine.
2. Porsche engine are too expensive, so i bought this audi A8 engine for $900 shipped, with subframe, ECU, Complete uncut harness. (bang for the buck)
3. I chose Tiptronic because , that was what my car originally was. Also there was somebody who tried the same swap with a manual and couldn't figure how to
get this swap done so he sold his project. also i've talked to the lead engineer at precision industries who build torque converter, the boxster converter can safely
and easily handle the engines power to the vehicle's weight.
-
thought i log on to let yall know about my V8 Swap in my so far.
I've seen people attempt it , but have not succeed. Things are going smooth so far.
Using boxster Transmission mated to an Audi A8 Engine(Drive By Wire)
Using Both Boxster Transmission mount, Both A8 Engine mount and using the
boxster front engine mount, totaling 5 mounts.
this saturday i will be messing with the wires.

Wow, that's crazy! I just finished my 3.4 conversion a few months ago too - the thing is a rocket! If you want to add a photo of your car to the bottom of the 3.4 conversion tech article that would be most cool. http://www.pelicanpa...Engine_Swap.htm
I'm also trying to gather people's comments who have actually done the swap. Any suggestions or differences in how you did the conversion?

wayne that is a well written document, i have no other addition to it. not only that but my process was different the way the document was stated.
as my car was a stripped boxster to the frame and reworked from there . i didnt have to use spacers , and i relocated the coolant resevoir , and kept the 996 dipstick and
oil filler tube. if you take a look at my photobucket photos, you can see i have a complete open engine bay. here is the link.
-
Lets see it.
here it is. you can see the push button installed, and the key i use is an OEM lambo key. and i took the RFID chip out of the actual case and installed it into
the lambo key , so in order to start the car you have to have the lambo key present, and in your pocket.
-
I purchase the Digital Dawg Keyless Go kit
for 399.00, and install it in 40 mins. , now i don't need a key
to start the car, it stays in my pocket. just like the new
mercedes. if anyone wants to see the finish pic i can post.

also another solution is to replace the ballast or bulb .
to test it take the ballast from one side and plug it to the other side
if the bulb comes on then its a bad ballast if the bulb won't come on then
its a bad bulb. ballast or bulb they only cost about 10-20 bucks on ebay.
regardless whether its vertex or who makes it they use the same plug in.
if you buy the bulb buy a set for exact color match.
-
you CAN BUY it on ebay or carparts.com
new or used, prefer new. the new regulator is
the only way to fix it , there is no repair to the old broken one.
pretty much laid out on how to replace it, as it is held in by bolts on each
corner of the regulator, plus you have to remove your airbag in the door and
speaker , be sure to disconnect the negative and wait 5 min before working on it.
-
1.5 years of fun, anger , tears, sweat and blood. i guess it was well worth it.
-
to fix it you may need the relay kit that usually comes with the HID kit, my customer had the same problem, with radio and dash lights.
i install a relay kit to it and it works fine with no more problem. no clue why, because the ballast actually only draws 35watt..not compare to
stock 55watt.
-
yeah i say find the relay to the starter which is in the trunk, and check if the relay is closing.
if click when attempt to start, then check for power going to starter, how many voltage?
if relay doesnt click , check immobo.

3.4 swapped finally done, ecu flashed, only thing left is bringing home the airlift coolant bleeder kit and doing it this saturday.

we are swapping in a 3.4l engine into a 2.5 tiptronic boxster.
i would like to know if anyone has insite whether the transmission can
handle the power, or do i need to beef up the torque converter.
And if i need to beef up the torque converter where can i get one ?
thanks for your time.
I swaped a 3.6 in a 2.7; did not had a chance to try it for too long but the tip was working ok; except that was trying to spin the wheels while changing to 2nd and 3rd. I did hit the engine after 1/2 mile so I'm not sure about relibility; I should have the car fixed today or tomorrow for more testing.(after a skid plate will be fabricated)
I think it's the same tip in 2.5 and 2.7.
Good luck,
Sergiu
thanks man i really appreciate your input, i did check out "level10.com " they do sell bulletproof torque converter and beefed up valve body for the 5hp19 tip
but since yours is holding up ok for a bit, i just might hold off. till the TC completely slip then ill get it from level10.com

I have a boxster with no engine, no transmission, no dme and no dme harness.only have harness coming from dash to the back.
i am getting ready to pick up a salvage 996 from a friend for $3500, car still starts. not e-gas.
here are my question once i obtain the 996.
1. can i use the dme and dme harness from his 996 in the boxster or do i have to do the whole harness swap from cluster all the way back to rear?
do i still have to have it reflash for security bypass?
2. i know i'll still have to find a tiptronic transmission for boxster to mate with the 996 engine and sell the 996 transmission.
and buy a couple of mounts. i won't need spacer for the mount for my project because the whole engine compartment lid area has been
chopped off.revealing only the frame of car.unless somehow i can turn around the whole engine and transmission like in a boxster and make it
work somehow, then i'll be able to drive backward real fast, lol.
3.dropping in a 996 without the old engine is gonna suck, what parts do i need to obtain, i have tod write up but he has an old engine and he is using
his boxster dme. but if i have the whole 996 car what is needed to be remove to complete the swap?
here is the picture of my project i am building.
As you can see in the first picture the entire boxster engine compartment is gone.

you can view the video of the car idling without exhaust just the downpipe. getting it to the muffler shop so i can get some exhaust worked on. i drove it around, feels good so far.will post up pix of me driving it. I have to reiterate, the cluster was not done completely yet, the coolant gauge, the fuel gauge and the speedometer was the only ones working in the video, the rpm didn't becuase i forgot to tap the signal wire into the crank sensor. The second shifter was to test my diodes and gnd trigger wire to each shift solenoid to make sure that each gate i put that shifter in did not send gnd back into another solenoid by soldering in diodes. once i have that sorted out, I can use a computer shift box and tap it into my steering shift button to control my up and down shift accordingly. "at this moment road surge only has 3 speed" waiting for the 4 speed set up.
