  1. Lets see some pics with it mounted!

If the diameter of the tires were same, you could. From the pics it looks like you went to a taller tire, so they will not be rotating at same speed and could not use it.

So I went from 18's to 22's and what a diffence! The new stance looks badass! Anyway, if I get a flat tire now, can I still use the spare? I just checked the spare again and it looks like I have to inflate first.

    Thanks!

  2. For past week my garage wreaked of gas order. I thought at first it was the fumes from charging the golf cart during the day, but then I smelled it when I exited the car yesterday. It appears to be coming from the left (US drivers side) rear wheel well. I could not tell if it was on the car or not so I had it washed and I still smell it, distinctly in tire well area. I thought I may have run over a gas puddle or some butt hole poured gas on the car. I placed on Durametric and no codes. No loss in performance, actually I have felt an increase in throttle response when I added fuel injector cleaner to the tank, but this issue was ocuring before then. I am clueless aside from thinking it may be the fuel filter.

  3. No Change yet and I too am about to hit 2k, although about 1k was hwy driving. I really have not had the chance to mess with it, the thought of taking everything off is daunting. Especially here in AZ where my garage would get 120+. I too hoped that by 3k they would be bedded in and have come to realize it is what it is. I dont think it has nearly the stopping power my original pads had. I can say this for sure, my wheels are always clean!

Any updates on this issue? I've ran into the same "problem" where the initial bite is gone, and I've logged maybe 2k miles now with no change. I'm starting to suspect that this is just the way the pads are. They have the stopping power, but the brake pedal effort is much higher. I thought it would go away with some wear, but it hasn't.

Have you tried the sanding as Hawk recommended?

I did not clean the rotors, I took them from the box and installed them. I called the company I bought them from and they do not have a anti-corrosion layer. I did have the brake fluid changed by an Indy.

If the pads are contaminated, would they not just wear off.... both the pad and the rotor?

Is there a way to clean the rotors with out removing everything? I can see removing the pads and cleaning the outside of the rotors, but getting to the inside may be an issue. Hawk recommended that I remove the whole system and clean the rotors with brake cleaner and sand down the pads. I just can see doing that.

  5. No, sorry. I am currently in Arizona. At least for the next 92 days. Then we head to Pensacola Florida. Where in Oregon are you from? If something happened to this Cayenne, I would do it all over again in my next. I can't believe it took me a whole year, I bought it exactly a year ago. If I did have to do it again I could easily do it in half a day or less, if working in right conditions. It litteraly took me 2 mins to remove the wing and maybe 30 mins to fish through hinge and work my way to front. I did the pre-wiring of the MOSTHUR and the Kenwood in my office. The only wires from the car I had to tap into was the HI and LOW CAN, the power and ground. The Fiber optic just plugs in from MOST-HUR.

I didn't mention that the main reason I could only work on this for no more than an hour or so at a time was because of the extreme heat. While it was 110 outside, it would be much more in my garage and especially in the car. The only other accessory that I plan on installing is a reverse camera.

Again I wish I could help with your install, but I can offer you any electronic support.

  6. I started this project about a month ago, I did not work on this everyday and I actually had a few weeks in between. Overall I spent about a total of a weekends worth of removal and install time, and about another weekends worth of time trouble shooting. In the end I am very happy with end result, it may not be 100% perfect but it is still in the A+ category for me!

    What I had:

OEM Porsche PCM System - Navi, CD Changer and Bose Speaker & Amp. I also had installed a iPod adapter that took the CD changers place, I was able to control iPod via PCM

    What I installed:

Kenwood DNX 9960 , Sirius Sat Radio, HD Radio, Monitor in motion bypass, rear center console DVD/Monitor, NAV-TV MOST-HUR controller, Face Plate from the UK

The Kenwood has built in BT for hands free phone and BT audio streaming, iPod audio/video, DVD and Garmin Navigation. It also can have Siruis, XM or HD radio tuners. I bought the Sirius and the HD and found out later that I had to choose because they dont have a switch yet. I chose Sirius SAT.

Installing the GPS and SAT antennas was quite easy, espeically the SAT antenna due to how thin it was and how much cable length. It would have been a straight forward install if it was not for the NAV-TV MOSTHUR. We could not get the first one to work, after too many calls to customer service I was about to give up. It would just not produce sound, I thought it was not turning the amp on. So they sent me another unit and it worked great. We just thought I had a defective unit. It was not until I was adjusting the settings via laptop that I realized the real issue. When you get the MOST-HUR you have to program it for Alpine or Kenwood (if you want to retain steering controls) you can also adjust power out put to amp. Thier range is from 70-210, it comes set at 78. When I had the first one I programmed and did all the pre-wiring in my office. I had preset the audio to 140 and figured I would increase from there. When i had my replacement unit I just connected it to see if it would even work. Then I went to adjust because the vol set at max was really at 75% or less old vol. When I adjusted to 140 no sound, 120 same, so I did 100 and about blew the speakers. I have it now adjsuted to 86 and I am happy with it. They need to mod thier instructions and lower thier range for Cayennes to 70-100.

The voice control and hands free phone is such a treat, so is the navigation. I can actually look up points of interest via detailed category. The best part is the touch screen and being able to use the steering controls. Especially the scan buttons. You can set the Kenwood to scan either by #, station or programed pre-sets which is what I did. So you can just toggle between your 6 pre-sets instead of scanning through all the stations. I installed the video in motion bypass for the fun of it, my wife likes watching comedy concerts on long trips. I was also able to match the boot screen to the original PCM boot screen and add a Porsche background to menu. I also found a Cayenne Turbo icon for the Navi, changed the color from tan to grey to match my Cayenne.

The center console is a 8" monitior with built-in DVD and FM modulator. It has IR for head phones and built in speakers. It also has USB and SD ports, as well as Video in and out. It can be folded out of the way and rotated all around.

I think this was well worth the cost, I was able to keep my Bose system and steering controls. The total cost was less than trying to upgrade to a PCM DVD or the new touch screen PCM plus I still don't think it would compare to my current set up.

If anyone needs help with their install just let me know. I feel like a engineer after dealing with the wiring trouble shooting etc. I have included some pics:

  7. So I bought the NAV-TV MOST-HUR to install a Kenwood Navigation unit. Removing PCM and the antenna was a breeze, I ended up intalling the Kenwood GPS antenna in the wing and running the wire down the driver side. The instructions seemed straight forward for wiring the MOST-HUR to the car. Before putting everything back I connected the battery back and tested everything. The Kenwood powered up, recognized all the accessories (Sirius SAT, HD and IPod). Nav working great, it read the HD FM channels and connected the iPod and was able to scroll through iPod menu. The MOST-HUR was powered up (green light on and red light coming out of optic fiber). The problem is no sound! The install instructions are simple and straight forward. I double checked all my connections, all fuses are good. I am thinking the Bose amp is not powering on. I have the wiring diagram for the the PCM and it matches/explains the OEM PCM harness. There are 2 wires not connected to the MOST-HUR - one wire is the white wire with red stripe which is the "Wake-Up/Diagnoses" wire and single brown wire which is for a "GP23_sm237". I believe the wake up wire is the culprit. Nav-Tv won't be open until Tuesday and I was hoping to get this done before then.

One reason I think the amp is not is that there is no red light coming from the OEM optic fiber, but with out actually testing the amp by removing the side panel I don't know for sure. I just expected to see a return light. Does anyone know if the white wire w/ red stripe "Wake-up/Diagnoses" wire is a switched 12v for Amp/CD changer?

This is wiring for the OEM PCM's 3 male connectors

    Black Connector -

    ---- Yellow w/ Red stripe - 12v constant - to Kenwood/Nav-Tv

    ---- Brown - Ground - to Kenwood/Nav-Tv

---- White - Power to antenna - to Kenwood Power Antenna

    Yellow Connector-

--- Orange w/ Violet stripe - CAN Hi - to Nav-Tv CAN HI

--- Orange w/ Brown stripe - CAN LOW - to Nav-Tv CAN Low

    --- White w/ Red stripe - Wake-up/Diagnoses - not connected

    Blue Connector

    --- Brown (thin) - GP23_sm237 - not connected

The remaining connections from Kenwood are to connected to corresponding wires on Nav-TV MOSTHUR (illumination, reverse, VSS etc)

If anyone else has succesfully did this install I would appreciate your help.

  8. I did not clean the rotors, I took them from the box and installed them. I called the company I bought them from and they do not have a anti-corrosion layer. I did have the brake fluid changed by an Indy.

Hawk recommended that I remove the whole system and clean the rotors with brake cleaner and sand down the pads. I just can see doing that.

  9. Hawk HPS pads stink!!!!!!!!!!, no bite at all. I called them and they tried telling me that I needed to remove everything and clean the rotors with brake cleaner and sand down the pads because of anti-corrosion covering on rotors. I called the company I got the rotos off of and they said no, but that I needed to break them in. So I have put about 200 miles on the car, the car brakes a lot better but I have lost that powerfull bite. It pretty much brakes like a normal car now, not something I would feel comfortable driving fast and having to hard brake. It does better when hot vs cold. The only positive I can say is that my wheels are still clean after 4 days of driving.

  10. I finnished installing my Hawk HPS pads and drilled rotors yesterday and have put about 40 miles on the car. I have the prescribed bedding process and the car still fill like it has no stopping power. I slammed on the brakes at 40 and I felt like I was doing it in Ford Van. How long does it take before I get the powerful Porsche feel. There litterally is no bite to these things.

  11. Would there be any reason why I could not place the antennas for an aftermarket system on the front dash? Does the windshield block any signals? Would they have to be separate from each other? I was thinking about installing underneath the center vent/speaker plate. It would have direct path through windshield ( I don't know if the mesh speaker grate would cause interference) or simply install on both sides of the park assist light.

  12. Well I had ordered the seals/gasket for the cam housing and all 8 coils. Just one spark plug, they told me the same thing about the rest still being good for anohter 30K miles. The thing is that Sunset sold me coils ending in -07 not 05. Did he sell me the wrong ones? It is for an 04 Turbo.

Now I am looking at the engine and the though of doing the gasket replacement seems daunting. There is very little space in the back to work in, I called the dealer and the dont drop the engine. Don't know whether to try or call my Indy.

  13. Thats to late the coil was ruined when I pulled it out. It came out in2 parts and took me forever to get the bottome part out. I am about to call Sunset today to order the parts, and wanted to know if I just replace just one coil that is shot or all. Plus should I replace all the plugs as well or just the one that this fried. If so, are there any upgraded spark plugs out there or does everyone use OEM. On AutohausAZ has the Beru for $16 and a Bosch for $7 on sale from about $20 each. It says both are OEM but I was not sure if the Bosch but was ok for the Turbo.

  14. I looked at the manual I bought of PorscheLibraian (I forget that I have those) and I guess it is called cam housing and within it there are spark plug gaskets. So I will need to replace the cam houseing gasket / spark plug gasket. It seems straight forward, but my big quesiton is whether the engine needs to be dropped to do this or can I do it with engine in place?

Or did the not torque the bolts correctly last year (16k miles ago)?

  15. Well I just removed the everything to find that the coil that was replaced last year by the dealer was the coil that was cracked. All the rest had 03 part #, this one had the 05. The was also oil in the spark plug well. Did they not tighten the spark plug enough or is it the valve gasket. The crappy thing to is that it is the cylinder under the torque support.

Also how are the cylinders #'d, Is it 1-4 back to front passenger side and #5-8 back to front driver side?

    Thanks.
