  1. Hi All,

I am looking at replacing my Pirelli Corsa System tires on my 2010 GT3 and I am having trouble getting the right size for the rears.

I am really happy with the Corsa Systems be cause they are still drive-able in rain (front tires channel water better than the MPSC's and they have lasted almost 12,000 km, including doing some driver's ed. I also want to stay with Porsche approved tires. Problem is the right size of Corsa Systems have been on back-order with Tirerack for months and i am running out of tread and time.

Can i put 325/30ZR 19's on the back (I know the rim width is OK at 12 inches) but what issues can I expect? Will I have rubbing issues with the bodywork or suspension parts, or handling issues that I should be aware of and stay away from?

Any other thoughts and comments would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!!!!

  2. Try a hair dryer. Warm the label using the high setting, and then just peel the sticker off. The glue becomes very "compliant" when warm. I took both back seat stickers off in 2 minutes wit no need for Goo Gone or any other adhesive remover :)

  3. Hi All,

I just received upper side view mirror covers in carbon fiber and I need help in figuring out how to access behind the mirror for the side view mirrors. How do I remove the mirror itself??? I have some instructions for the 997 MK1, but I believe the design of the MK2's mirror assembly is different, and I don't want to break anything.

Any help or a guide like a service manual would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

    Thanks!

  4. I want to pull out the existing CD holder in the lower centre console to locate and install an after-market TPMS (Orange Electronic).

My understanding is that there are several options for replacing the CD holder, namely a cubby hole, and a cassette holder. However, is there also a blank face plate as an available option? If so, what would the part number be?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ron

  5. Hi everyone.

I had the Porsche Sport Exhaust installed in 2005 with the optional switch to override the "sport" sound. I did the mod to eliminate the automatic speed control of the exhaust at that time. Up until the last few days everything was working just fine.

Now I notice the switch to "quiet" the exhaust doesn't work. It's on "sport" all the time. Normally I drive the car on "sport" sound almost all the time, but once in a while I like the option of setting it on "quiet" mode. It's not the end of the world if I don't get it fixed but my "significant other" may feel otherwise (no, ear plugs for her are NOT an option!).

Any thoughts or comments as to what the problem might be? What should I be doing to diagnose the problem?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hi everyone,

I have a question (please don't laugh or roll your eyes as you read this):

I know Porsche states the X51 engine upgrade is not available for 996 Tiptronic cars (mine is a 2002 C2 with tip). However it is available for 997 Carrera S models. My question is: WHY is it not available for 996's with tip transmissions? Aside from the third radiator in front being utilized for the transmission, is there any other known reason why it can't be fitted to a tip car? If it is just the third front radiator issue, could this not be worked around?

OK, so that's 3 questions. But I have searched all the posts and haven't been able to find any discussion on this.

    Thanks in advance!

    Ron.

  7. I had one put on by the dealer when I had the ROW M030 sport suspension installed, as the car was lowered 20 mm front and 10 mm at the back.

This protection plate weighs something like 1 - 2 lbs, but serves to protect the bottom side of the engine (bolts, etc.) from catching on anything. Plate gets sacrificed before engine does. IMHO it's a small price to pay for peace of mind (especially given that the dealer had just repaired another Carrera after it had the bottom of its engine ripped off by an obstacle - and that car wasn't even lowered!

  8. The Litronic headlight lenses on my 2002 C2 have (in spite of regular hand washing of the car) accumulated, for lack of a better term, atmospheric "goop" better defined as all that crap including bug, tree and road stuff that a good cut and polish would remove from a painted surface (the car is parked on the driveway as we don't have a garage). :(

However as the lens is "plastic" for lack of a better description, I am stumped as to how to clean the surfaces beyond using a car wash solution in water. I tried Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner but without luck, and if anything the lenses are now looking like they have a swirl finish much like a black painted car that hasn't been polished.

Has anyone successfully cleaned these lenses to get this stuff off them, and what did you use? Any thoughts, comments, and recommendations would be appreciated. No, getting a garage is not an option - by-law issues with the size of our lot!.

  9. I thought I would pass this on to all, as I had always wanted sport seats for my car, but with all the features of my comfort seats (full power, memory, power lumbar, and heat).

I recently acquired a pair of low mileage sport seats via EBay. Their condition was excellent, but with limited features. My local Porsche dealership referred me to a local auto upholstery shop that had experience in repair and restoring Porsche seats, and posed them with my challenge of taking the best of both seats and building a hybrid seat. They were quick to take this project on as they had modified seats before.

I picked my car up from the shop yesterday afternoon to find I now have two sport seats with all the features of my old seats. They did an amazing job (same day turn-around) and detailed the leather as well. They look like new (the sport seats had very low mileage on them). All the functions are retained, including memory, heat and power lumbar. Just awesome!

Essentially they rebuilt my comfort seats using the bolsters, padding, leather and backs of the sport seats, for both the uppers and the seat bottoms, as opposed to transferring the mechanicals over to the sport seats. The seat frames are identical, so this simplified the conversion process.

They are now rebuilding my original seats with the leftover parts so I can re-sell them. Total cost: $593 CDN for the upholstery shop work. And one very happy Porsche addict...

Thanks for the feedback from various Renntech members for your input and guidance for this project.

    I will post pics shortly.

  10. Has anyone had experience adapting the backrest shell of a sport seat to the bottom of the power comfort seats to provide a fully powered version of sport seats.

My car has heated comfort seats with lumbar and I would like to know if it's possible to convert them into full power sport seats with the comfort seat memory capabilities. The backrest frame part for both the comfort seat and the sport seat is the same (thanks Loren) so it would appear that it is possible to do this transformation by adding the sport seat backrest shell, padding and leather cover to the power seat backrest frame that contains all the electronics and motors, lumbar, etc.

    Hi,

I just acquired a pair of sport seats and I too have the comfort seats with memory and lumbar, as well as heat. Could you please share your experience in regards to this modification with me? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

    Ron.
