    Thanks Loren, good advice. Just got back from Autozone, and found one fault, a P1128. Cleared the faults and lo and behold the fault didn't return, even after driving home about 6 miles. So, maybe it was a fluke? I'll check your site for the codes, but hopefully won't have to go any further with this issue.

    I'm off to autozone to use their OBD. After reading the codes, I intend to resent the CEL. Can someone please tell me just how to do that? I'm afraid the autozone people might not know how...Especially since it's a holiday, and they may not have staff on board TIA Steve

    Thanks for the reply, I didn't think the trash can was a player, just had to define what occurred prior to the CEL. Most important, now I can direct autozone to the right area to plug in the OBD gadget.

    My CEL came on today. After de-mothballing from the winter, I drove 12 miles last week, then today washed car, drove a couple of miles to dry off and as I was finishing the ride had little mishap when I drove into a trash can with front bumper, but no damage (other than to ego), and this is when I noticed the CEL was on. Any ideas? I've done the search and seen the variety of possibilities but am just wondering if my little mishap hitting the trash can has any bearing on it. I will go to Autozone tomorrow and get a read out, as I've called them and they do offer a free check. Only problem is they don't know where to hook to plug it in, so last question: Where does the OBD2 plug into in a 2001 911 Cab? TIA Steve Hubbard
