I use MOTUL inugel all the way in the hot Phillipine climate with no issues.

I took it to my indy and left the car their for two weeks. They changed the coolant to motul inugel (we dont have the porsche recommended coolant here) and spark plugs but they couldn't find the source of the mysterious squeak. I had the underside washed also. Might have been something that got caught somewhere under car. It went away just like that. I have been using the car a couple of times and no squeak anymore came out. Prior to bringing the car to the indy for the squeak I had them check the airconditiong because there was no cold air coming out. They checked for leaks but couldn't find any until I had them pull down the bumpers to clean the rads and there we found our freon leak, at the passenger side condenser. They replaced the freon and patched up the condenser with steel epoxy until I can get a new one shipped. When I brought it back for the squeak I asked if their was a need to add oil for the compressor and they said no. I have a suspicion that the a/c compressor might be the cause of the squeak, since the sound was coming from the compressor side. I am not sure whether they added oil after I left them the car. No answers from them about the squeak and they have drained half a tank testing the car and they said the squeak didn't come out at any driving condition. Hope this helps and if you will find out anything, pls update.

A loose spark plug sounds like a loud bird chirping. It would also cause a CEL.
I would still take the belt off (for a very short period of time) and run the motor to see if it goes away.
The chirping on my car only happens when I release the clutch on first gear or at low speeds and goes away once I put on more gas. Chirping sometimes happens when the engine is hot during idling ( more than 80c) but its continuous and sometimes its not there. What do you think it is loren?
-
Belt, pulley(s), AC compressor clutch, etc. - those would be the first things I would look at.
Thanks loren:) I was waiting for your advise. A/C compressor lost all freon a couple of days ago. When a/c guy re-filled it im not sure if he also added oil. But the sound/squeak comes on only when the engine is hot or at normal operating temperature even when the a/c is off and sometimes even during idling once I have it running for a couple of hours. But the squeak at idling is intermittent. A/C works fine except for the condenser leak at the passenger side which I have temporarily patched up with steel epoxy until I get a replacement.

It is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Sounds like the fan belt but im also thinking it might be the AOS. Its with my indy now and will update as soon as I find out what it is. Does the squeak from car come out when your at 1st gear?
-
My 2000 c2 6 speed has a squeak on 1st gear and goes away once I put more gas into it. But sometimes I can still hear intermittent squeaking even when the gear is not engaged once the engine reaches normal operating temperature. The sound is coming from the passenger side where the A/C compressor is. The squeak is there whether the A/C is off or on. Any ideas?

Thank you very much Loren.

I got a 2000 C2 6speed ROW. When I start the engine the radiator fans dont work, even the engine fan. is this normal? If it is, at what point in the engine temp will they start working?
Its pretty hot on where I am. I always get my temps above 80 in the coolant gauge. If I get into a medium traffic it goes to 100 and above in my guage. I was wondering if this temp readings are normal. The outside temp on where I am is 32-34 c. Thanks in advance.

My 2000 996c2's A/C is not as cold as it used to be. Do guys know where I can check if it still has freon? or how do I check if there is a leak. Does the cabin filter affects the A/C performance? Thanks

hi everyone,
i am new to this forum. i want your advise on a killer deal i am having on a 2000 Carrera. the car has only made 60,000 KM (40,000 miles). i took the car for the last weekend to decide and noted the followings:
1- whining sound from the back end @ 70-80 km/h (45-50 miles/h) the whining then goes away
2- at full stop, the idle is not perfect and the car slightly vibrates
3- at full stop, some front end noise when swinging the steering wheel
beside the above, the car feels perfect.
what do you think of these notes? are they critical? what are the possible causes and solutions?
thanks in advance,,
KJ
the whining sound at those speeds might just be the rear spoiler going up automatically
the car has a fixed spoiler,,
when i got off the car and checked the rear tires, i found them of different patterns and sizes; can this be the problem?
The other members could help you better once they are up. what about the engine lid fan? As I was looking for a 996
I came across a 99 guards red that had this loud whining sound that starts from the moment you start the car till its warmed
up couple minutes later. Never excatly found out what it was cause I walked away from that one and got another with no
weird noises. But I had a suspicion that it might have been the fan causing it.

Be very careful if you paint them - those are the cats with the O2 sensors. The cats get very hot and some paints/oils will attack and foul O2 sensors.
Sorry, but polishing might work for a while - Concours guy Orient Express may have a better idea...
Im also interested in making the exhaust on my 00c2 look better. they are pretty rusted. What kinda of paint can be safely used? is VHT ok? or should I just be careful in painting making sure no paint gets inside the exhaust and foul up the sensor.
Coolant mixture advice

Hello guys, I live in hot weather and was wondering what kind of coolant / distilled water mixture I need.
50/50 seems to be the common and porsche recommended mixture but I am also reading that 70/30 water/coolant
is okay for hot weather. I drained my 2000 c2 because my water pump impeller tore into tiny pieces. I did a lot of flushing to clean it out and hopefully every piece was flushed.
