  1. So I did the upgrade last night of my PCM 2.1 from software version 2.1 to 3.1 (Main + Trip ) confirmed.

The CD did 3 updates, PCM, BOSE, and Navigation I believe.

Then inserted my new 2006 Navigation DVD and that did an update to the DVD unit I assume, as it said update next.

So what exactly on the PCM head unit is fixed? Better audio? Everything looks the same.

I did have a weird problem were some address would all go to a town 15 minutes from my house. Otherwise the system worked perfect and this old issue is now fixed.

    Thanks!

Well I found 2 changes, one is I now have Audio Pilot instead of Dynamic Audio, can my car fly?

2nd I have PCM Surround Sound or something like that.

3rd, I thought I had the strange thing were the GPS sends me to the same street in the same town for certain addresses, but it is still doing that.

    Anyone want to put in:

    251 Broadway

    Malden, MA 02148

And see if it sends them to Medford, MA?

It says Malden is the destination, but shows Medford as the final checkered flag.

I have reset everywhich way I can think of, deleted all trips, delete all the last destination and stored ones. I still have to pull the battery. 1-4-8 does nothing good for me either.

So I guess I wasted a big chunk of change getting the newer maps and PCM 2.1 Rev A to B platform update.

Dealer did a factory reset with PIWIS and that seemed to fix the weird address thing.

  2. I'm looking at a used Cayenne S with 67k miles to replace my daily driver. If I'm not mistaken the Cayenne is due for "major maintenance" at 75k miles. Anyone know how much that service is if it is indeed at 75k miles?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

About 1300 bux. Wipers, cabin filter, oil change, plugs, engine air filters and go over the car I think. Look at the documents section for the full details.

IMHO, go for an inspection which should be 1 hour labor for $129 or so. Porsche should know the cars, so there inspection should be pretty good.

Then take to a good mechanic and have them do the major maintenance. Some of the things are so easy it is ridiculous how much they charge. I think to change the cabin filter is 300 - 400 dollars, cost me 25$ for the bosch filter and took me all of 10 minutes. Same thing for the wipers, they will charger 150 - 200 dollars, you can get the bosch ones which are EXACTLY the same for the Touareg for $40 or so and change them yourself.

  3. Hi there,

I am having some technical issues with my Cayenne, and I suspect that the computer is either not supplying power to a control unit, or that there is a break, loose connection, or short somewhere for the power running to the control unit in question. To troubleshoot this, I want to check and see if the control unit in question is getting power at all. I am after the module that controls the following:

    - brake proportioning

    - air suspension

    - PSM

Hopefully they are all in one location, although I would suspect that if the first two were unavailable, the PSM function would go off by default too.

If you can tell me the location, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks, Mark

Can't remember where it is now, but google the cayenne parts manual, its a free pdf from porsche's site, usually you can kind figure out where things are from that.

  4. as for the cables:

the front lights wirring looks the same, the part that conects to the car harness. still it needs some diy, as they have less cables inside.

attached is a picture of the cable for 955 with OEM Xenon - look at it, this one is just missing 2 cables on the entire plug. Now, if you could find a way to see the other part of the cable, the one that fits inside the headlight would be great.

Dont forget on the 955 you have the turn signal, turning lamps, running lights, halogen and xenon bulbs all on that cable. I think the 957 only had two lights in the head lights. The picture I attached is the cable that goes to the headlight. They dont do the cartridge plug in style connector anymore, I assume because of all the problems they had with 955 loose connections.

  5. that sounds great, so if its a loaner you can do pretty much what you want with it :)

can you unplug and send me the wirring?

    jk.

couldn't stop myself for not posting.

    thanks for helping.

So are you saying the lower half of the rear bumper can just bolt on? I would like to leave the upper half the same, and just remove the part that covers the exhaust and replace with the newer valance.

  6. This car has just halogen, no xenon.

Your welcome. Yeah some say they dont like the rear bumper, it is growing on me. Still not sure on the front yet. I need to look at the rear light harness too.

    thats awesome! thanks.

the plugs for the front lights look a little diferent. I couldnt see from the picture, but does this V6 has Xenon lights?

also, funny, the V6 doesnt has that coat under the front hood, to keep the noise at lower levels - didnt knew that.

for the rear bumper, the support needed is just the central one, the side ones are the same.

in the list that I've provided, there are also the wheel wells as well.

just some minor things are missing.

got the info from a member, thanks again for help Alex.

so, no more bull**** spread by some dealers - the rear upper spoiler fits like a champ on the 955 without any modifications :), its has the same mountings holes.

here is the code for the spoilers:

    1 95551293906G2X - Aero Kit Spoiler

    1 95551293905G2X - Standard spoiler

    dsc00033ny.jpg

  8. I currently have a 957 v6 loaner if there is anything that is non damaging, I can take a look if you need it.

whats "loaner" stands for? like borrowed? :)

if you have one 957, you can check the wirring for the headlights. I dont currently have them, I'm waiting for them. But its not that difficult to remove one. the newer headlight support is way better than the former one, in design. the part that release the headlight is simplier and tougher. I have received them and they look way better, I mean you wont brake appart that easy this one. I've changed them on the 955 because for some reason they broke - the small "transfer case" broke and I was loosing the front lights while driving. I've seen more than one that had this fault part.

So, to release the headlights you will need just a screw driver and you have to pull it away.

another thing that you need to keep in mind is that the 955 headlights have trun indicators inside, while the newer ones have them in the front bumper. so far I have discovered that diy jobs needs to be done on the electrical harness.

the panells, hope you are meaning the front fenders: there is one part that i've got and didnt put the part number here, will be soon: its a mtal support for the fenders from the upper part. some peoples are just drilling the older ones.

I have another thing right now that bothers me, the side indicators harness. I need the bulb support, and I hope I can use the former ones that I have.

can anyone tell me if this the code for it: 95561291310.

Yeah, a loaner is what you get from a dealer sometimes when you car is in the shop getting repaired. Kinda like a rental car, but it is included with the work they are doing on my CS. Sure I can take a picture of the headlight wiring for you this weekend.

  9. Im not sure but think the old part can be fit with some adjustments..

with your help I have concluded a part list for this conversion.

some might not want to achieve the newer CS design and might want to get the GTS looks, but I went with the 957 CS look.

this are the parts that I've ordered so far, some of them I already got them. the list is not complete but I'm getting there.

I went with the Halogen lamps, instead of Bi Xenon ones, because my car didn't had Bi xenon from factory, so its way easier to make the wires.

the list doesn't include, just for the moment, the rear bumper parts needed. I got mine as I showed before, complete.

but its just a matter of time. I'll post also the part list for converting it into a GTS or TURBO.

Again, THIS ARE THE OEM PARTS FOR THE NEWER 957 Cayenne S or V6.

Are the lighting harness completely different than the 955? Wondering what is involved with the Xenon wiring I currently have. Also do you think it is true that you will need to make some custom parts to attach panels?

  10. Does anyone have a copy of PCM install instructions for latest version?

i just received 08.2009 updates for my NAV.

    came with 3 discs:

    1. Map DVD

    2. PCM 2.1 Multimedia Update CD Cayenne

    3. PCM 2.1 Multimedia Update CD Navigation

    thanks

    matt

With the car running, i believe you remove your old Nav DVD, then Insert Disc 2 in the Head unit till its done, then Disc 3 in the Head unit until done, then place the Nav DVD in the DVD drive.

  11. Mine has a subwoofer in the trunk instead. And to make things worse it doesn't have a TPMS. So I am just wonder how people usually cope with this.

Someone stole your spare I would think. In mine, the spare is just on top of the woofer in the trunk, bolted down. Of course the P.O. didn't bother to put the air-compressor back in, and no I don't have the air suspension.

For future notes, the touareg aircompressor and the cayenne ones are exactly the same, touareg one is 75 bux or so vs 150 for the cayenne one.

Thanks man. It looks like some Cayennes just don't come with a spare. Found a spare tire installation guide online:

    Cayenne Spare Tire Install

Wow, being stuck on the side of the road sucks, I can't imagine not having a spare!

  12. I have a Cayenne Turbo S MY06, the car while standing vibrates (lever in P) slightly between 2000-2300 rpm. When driving the whole car starts little shaking ( I did in 6th gear, lever to M) at around 1500rpm (not periodically) and only when accelerating all the way up top speed. At around 230 - 270 km/h the shaking is clearly notable and coming in shorter intervalls like every two seconds for two seconds. When I stop pushing the throttle the vibrations stop.

The Porsche dealer changed the coils and the tranny valve box. Before changing the car got shaken hardly because of harsh downshifts from 6 to 4 or 5 to 3. PD checked the cardan shift for optical errors, nothing visible. Porsche has no explanations except 8 of 10 Cayenne start shaking... my mileage is 92000km or around 55k miles.

I looked through the forums but could not find adequate answer for my problems. Does anyone have the same experience or can help me?!

    Thanks

    HO

Did you look on the first page "

Owners Suffering from the Cayenne Vibration DEFECT"

  16. my 04 CTT was shaking/vibrating when you step on it and turbo kicks in. I thought it was may be one of the engine mounts or tranny mounts, but when I read one of the threads here, I noticed someone had a same problem and it turned out to be their coils.

So, I decided to check my coils and sure enough, all of them had cracks on them. So, I decided to look at worldpac to see how much they were there and I got a great deal. They were $14.25 a piece. Amazing deal. If you need them, check worldpac. They are OEM BERU parts.

At that price I would buy 8 just to keep them handy...

  17. I have a 2004 CTT with about 50K miles on it that I purchased as a CPO about 18 months ago. Great car and has been very reliable to date (though I was a bit concerned due to the hit/miss of reliability with the 2003/2004 model years, hence why I elected to go with a CPO)

I just finished driving through some pretty bad rain and flooded roads on Sunday for about 40 minutes. I noticed that the passenger front foot well was soaking wet. It was so wet that I could squeegee the water out at first. This has happened only one time before when I was at a car wash this summer. I saw the a post about someone having problems with clogged drains in the back storage area (http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=11709) and viewing the drawing it appears that it could be the culprit.

My concern is that I believe that the water is coming from beneath the car as I have only noticed it when driving through standing water and with the car wash that also cleaned the undercarriage. Does this make sense or do you believe that it is a clogged or loose connection that is causing the problem.?

ALso how do I access the drain/connector that is located in the front passenger side as in the above picture to see if it is the culprit? I would like to solve this as the smell of mildew every time I drive is not that appealing.

    Thanks in Advance - Steve

Another possibility but rare is the drain plugs that are installed when a car is manufactured is missing, could have been knocked off some how or loose. These wholes are all over the body for when it goes through its bath and painting process to allow the liquid to drain out, then later plugged with a large knockout type clip, The whole body is sprayed with a rubber undercoat afterwards.

I had this happen on a BMW once, the plug was dislodged, got a little bit of high water during a flash rain storm and it flooded the whole side of the car, had to pull the carpets up and dry it like crazy.
