  1. djantlive - what kind of towel do you use? when you use windex, does it ruin the plastic/vinyl? i used some armor all window cleaning product the other day and some of it dripped onto the armrest on the door (the part that flips up for storage) and the black (i think rubber/plastic) peeled off.
  2. i checked the product review section but there was not much info. what do you use/recommend for cleaning the inside of the car (both cleaner and type of cloth)?
  3. okbye2 - thanks. but you didn't see anything leaking before taking it in?
  4. just curious. if rear main seal is leaking, will you be able to see some kind of fluids (if parked in garage)?
  5. djantlive - coolant and engine oil is good. same with tire pressure. there's a tranny fluid? or did you just mean tranny in general? didn't know about the panel, i'll look into that. thanks
  6. heddok - thanks. did the mechanic mention if that will go away or if that is something that will always happen (the burning smell) after high speed runs?
  7. thanks boxs2000 tool pants - how do you know "If the engine and transmission mounts are ok..." thanks.
  8. i see. yeah i have an '02 S with less than 25k. but it does smell like what you are describing. i'll bring it in and have them check. if anyone else has experienced this or has some info that would be great.
  9. mbodo - that's kind of a relief to hear. so is it only when you get near/over the triple digits? and it goes away fairly quickly for you too? what is that burning smell?
  10. thanks for reply. do you have any idea as to what can be wrong?
  11. i have a similar problem in 2nd gear. glad to hear this is normal. but mine is mainly when shifting from 1st to 2nd. it has a tendency to kind of pop out of gear. is that normal as well?
  12. hi, when taking the car above 100+mph on the freeway (gradually from highway speed of 60mph), then bringing back down by letting off gas back to highway speeds and maintaining that cruising speed (60-70mph), is it normal to smell a slight burning/heating smell in the car? has anyone else experienced this? it goes away after 5-10 min, but i was wondering if this was common as the engine is right behind us. thanks.
  13. yes, that is what i am referring too. thanks for the reply
  14. hi, just wondering if the outer windstop (not the central one) is useful? is there a noticeable difference? trying to find out if it's worth buying. thanks.
  15. natzee/melav - thanks for the replies. glad to hear that...
  16. hi, i just bought a 2002 boxster s this past weekend and was curious what the average lifespan in miles were? i've always had japanese cars and i know they can last 150-200k easily with minimal work. this is my first porsche. what kind of mileage can i expect to reach? is 120-150k realistic?
  17. loren - great. that's what i was looking for. new to the board and i tried getting to the porsche manuals link from the homepage and it didn't work at first.... thanks
