  1. Thanks for the info Loren, The fuel level indicator does move after fueling (in fact, the DTE indication I have from the OBC shows range increasing WHILE it's being fueled, which is kinda neat!). The cost to fill seems a little low too - somewhere around 9 gallons with the car having much less than a quarter of a tank prior to the stop. I'll have the dealer check it out, but it seems to be more closely related to pressure buildup in the tank filler causing the pump to switch off early, rather than an erroneous indication.
  2. Hi All, I've had my '02 C4 vab for only a month, but I've noticed that when my tank is filled (NJ - we're not allowed to do it ourselves), it's never really full. The gauge reads full but after only a couple of miles, it'll drop to just above three quarters. It's not a gauge issue. The car was full when I picked it up from the dealer and remained so for most of the drive home. The cost of the gas seems to reflect a lower qty than I expected. The net result is that I think I'm visiting the gas station more regularly than I should. Could this be related to the flexible pipe issue I've read about here or is it simply that Porsche aren't training gas attendants like they should :D
  3. Frankly, I was against it too (for the same reasons as Jim) - until I found out it can be removed without paint damage. My car won't be "babied" - I'll be getting the winter tires and driving it year round, but most of my mileage is highway, and those road construction trucks here in NJ can't always be avoided. IMHO, cars are meant for driving, but a little cash spent on non-destructive paint protection is well worth it, though as always, YMMV
  4. Just a quick note - it's not permanent. It can be removed at any time without any damage to the paint. I strongly recommend having it removed professionally though.
  5. Also I'd suggest AB specialties, Al did my '02 C4 Cab and my Wife's '05 Cayenne - Both full kits. I was at a Porsche service facility today and I spotted a beautiful C4 that had had it done but with quite a few bad creases in the front bumper - looked hideous! Anyway - the guy I used took most of the day on each car. He comes to you and just loves doing Porsches - something about how they're all curvy and that makes it easy to apply. Mine is pretty much invisible unless you know where to look - even then the light has to be right to see it. He's in Denville, but like I said, prefers to come to you. Nice guy too.
  6. Thanks Loren, If the shop is successful, I'll post and let everyone know.
  7. My '02 C4 Cab is going in to the shop for a Kenwood HU/Nav install next week. I asked specifically about being able to use the existing Bose amp and was told that this wouldn't be a problem (this is a non-Most car, built 10/01) but have read here that this can't be done. The shop I'm using has a tremendous reputation, so I'm either expecting a call stating that they can't do it or they'll find a way!! What's the nature of the problem? I've thought about this quite a bit and done numerous searches but I can't imagine what the issue could be. all of the signals required to drive the amp, turn it on etc should be present on the new HU.
  8. My (limited) experience with german cars tends to indicate that AC is generally not as cold as others. My Passat was downright warm, the A4 was a little better. That said, the C4's AC seems to run very cold. If you really think there's a problem, you could get it measured and work from there.
  9. Anybody know the part number for this bit?? Are there any other Porsche parts required to install a double-din unit in an '02 (Non-MOST) 996 with Bose and Changer? I'd like to install the Kenwood display. Thanks! Andy
