A dealer should certainly be able to tell you if there is a difference. Unfortunately my PET is only for US spec cars.
Look on the catalytic converter for the part number and post it. We may be able to find out with the part number.
But my car is an US version :) as I wrote above.

One more question to you guys,
What is the standard number of CELLS in American version of Carrera '2004 996.
does anybody tryed to exchange the standard for 200 cells which are avalible in german shop - http://tiny.pl/h7wmf
Maybe it is possible to buy standard cell in some of yours countries??

I had excatly the same ilness :) and exchange only voltage regulater (part of alternator) and everything is ok. Now 14V. Total cost - 100 Euro with BOSCH regulator.

Could be also a sign that you katalysator has almost gone :(

Had the car repaired and it cost me 600 EUR replacing the alternator including 100 EUR for 'measures after disconnecting the battery' , checking and loading it as well as taking it out and putting it in again. I just wish I could earn 100 EUR just by running the windows up and down, setting the clock and looking at the voltmeter. And why the f... did they have to take out the battery to load it!? Apart from that I definitely change the dealer as the treated me like an idiot. Turned the car in at 10am and when I called at 5pm they told me that they didn't have the alternator on stock and would fix it the next day before 11am. To glad I had told them before I would need the car because I would be on standby on work all day. Do I have to mention that the car was fixed at 4pm next day after I called in three times? :cursing: Letter to Porsche to local Porsche service department is on the way....

Toddel, I had excatly the same in my Porsche 996 ' 2004. I got my car to good electrician. He exchanged regulator (BOSCH part - 50 Euro) and charged battery. Total cost - 100 Euro. Now everything is ok and voltage still on 14V.

My name is Adam. I am form Poland Warsaw. I own Carrera 2 996 '2004 American version. Unfortunately I have a problem with I have broken left catalysator. It's mechanical problem. The porcelain inside has been crushed. Now I am trying to find used catalysator but somebody from www.teile.pl told that there is a difference between European and American cat. because of different exhaust pollution norms it could be still a problem with ignitation on dashboard. It means that when I put European cat computer can still show a mistake (CHECK ENGINE ON).
Does anybody ever had such experience and problem? Could you please advise me what can do? I can of course buy new one in Porsche dealer or mentioned above site but the prices are so high.

I have boght a 2004 ' Carrera in USA. I have no service book to that car. Do you have one to sell or do you know how can I get it? Maybe you can at least scan one of your page for service and I will multiplay it + title site? Please. My @ - afulneczek@porscheclub.pl
