Anyone have a past problem with a grinding/scraping noise from front hub area?
I was driving my 01 C4 today and on last turn to house I started hearing this noise. I pumped the brakes and then tried going in reverse and applying brakes but noise is still there.
I took RF wheel off, spun disc and grinding was still there. Could it be a dragging brake? Noise seems to come more from the dust shield than the disc itself.

:clapping: Thanks Loren you are extremely helpful

 i just wanted someone's input (who might have done it already) on how to take out the body third brake light
on MY01 C4. Talked with Don (thanks Don) he says it should just pop out, but his apparently cmae that way. Is it possible to access from inside the car?

Actually Aero wing from MA Shaw did come with a harness but unsure if it will turn off the dash light. Will find out when I install this in a few weeks. Wary of using anything but Porsche made products for electrical!

If you are getting the smaller "Carrera" style spoiler like Don's then that is the one for that kit (but it should have come with the kit).
I am getting a smaller single wing so the "one would be the 070-04?

Loren I had a question.. I too am installing a fixed spoiler on MY01 C4 and I called local parts dept and asked for the special harness which you described to stop dash light from being on. I got it and noticed the number is slightly different than one you list..it is 996-612-070-04
Do I have the wrong one for this year and model? I aksed parts and they seemed to be stumped.

B) Don do you have directions on how you got back to the rear brake light to install the block off plug? Mine came in and I don't want to tear anything up!
(BTW I am painting mine the negative of yours.. Black with Porsche painted in silver!) Jim

B) Guess you just have to try different tyres! I have not had these Conti out yet, but had some PP S03 on an older 89 911 and LOVED those tyres!

So would a N2, being a second generation, be considered better by Porsche?
-
 Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference in the "N" ratings? I bought some Sport techno wheels that came with Conti Sportcontac "N2"

:D Hi what was the cost, including install?
-
RMS:,I believe they are referring to the rear main seal which I heard has been known to leak... sometimes significantly.

 Loren (or anybody) is the RoW M030 suspension a good upgrade for my 01 C4? (I can get a good deal thru SunCoast Porsche.) I just want it down a littel and a little stiffer.

 Yeah I found the wiring harness part and have already ordered it and the plug for rear brake light. But how is the mechanical grill held in place, just four bolts? Do you have to take whole lid off?
Jim

:clapping: Hey Don I found the new part number for the plug for body third brake light : 996-504-981-00-g2x

Any DIY articles on removing the rear mechanical spoiler on MY01 996 C4? I am replacing with fixed wing spoiler from MA Shaw.
 Jim

Hi Don where did you buy the brake light cover? My parts guy can't find it
Jim

:) OKay that explains it, wonder if you could get a motor and modify it?
Jim

Well in my experience, you have to repaint entire wheel. Get the paint code from Porsche.
 Jim

Tony that is probably the same web page I have seen. I assumed it was functional since it says wing is in "full up position" but maybe not. I have Getty designs catalog and they too list a TT wing for 996 that says fixed upper wing but then says it can be ran in "down" position..maybe has to be done manually?Getty has 2 types FRP $1600 and Carbon fiber $1800. Have not called either directly to clarify yet.

Thanks, oh well MAShaw does now offer a fully functional TT type lid for narrow body. I had found a used TT lid on Ebay for cheap but turns out it was too good to be true.. Guy had salvaged the top wing, light and probably motor for his new Gemballa wing, but was advertising it as a complete wing!

 Is it possible to fit a factory turbo spoiler/decklid MY01 to a MY01 carrera C4? Does the turbo tail have a boot for intake like stock C4? Any wiring or any other special things have to be done? I want to do add a raised spoiler but nothing to0 wild..the Turbo tail looks very subtle and I have the chance to get one.
Thanks
 Jim D.

Anyone have detailed instructions on how to remove the rear mechanical spoiler?
(leaving lid and installing a spoiler similar to Carrera spoiler) I have the TSB for installing the factory Carrera Spoiler but it references a different instruction on how to remove stock mechanical spoiler
