  1. Thanks for the reply. Are these headlamps or cornering and fog lights that you replaced? I already have HID in my Cayenne and am looking to replace the fog lights and the cornering lights with HIDs.

Thanks for the instructions and the tip.

Did you replace the bulbs with Xenon bulbs with ballasts or just ordinary bulbs?

I am thinking about changing those ordinary bulbs with Xenons any ideas?

    Thanks

    Dan

I reciently installed a HID kit that Vertex sells for the Boxster. I ordered the 6000K super white kit. The install was pretty easy and the results are FANTASTIC! The lights look like the high end euro's and the performance is as good as ANY lights out there. Also, the lights look like they belong on the car. Originaly I did this install on the Boxster and I was very happy but when I did it on my wifes Cayenne I must say I was jelous. The kits run for about $250 on Ebay and come with a 1 year warrenty. Just do a serch for Boxster HID. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Scott

my headlights and fogs are HIDs 8000k :D

look for JDM HID porsche 165 :) AWSOME PRODUCT

  2. I too am looking forward to the result.

If you need help removing the rear clusters I will be happy to talk you through it. They are VERY easy to break.

There are some writings on this borad I seem to recall.

I'm looking forward to seeing pics. The tail light modifications sound interesting.

The xenon modifications to the fog and cornering lights seem a bit over the top - quite expensive considering the way these lights are used. Also, I think it's nice to have a standard bulb in the fog lamps - I don't think it scatters as much when it is actually foggy.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Stefan for pointing out polarity and wide angle issues. I ordered a pair of 1157 wide angle ones from http://superbrightleds.com/specs/1157-x24.htm for rear tail light and brake light. I also ordered it in Amber for rear turn signal with the load resistor to replace the rear turn signal. I will post the pics hopefully this weekend if they arrive before the weekend.

If all goes well, I will order another pair for the other side.

I was also thinking about replacing back up light, but I am not sure if it is better to use LEDs in backup light or use something like Xtreme White by PIAA (not sure if they make those in P21W), or install Xenons (HID) with ballasts. Any suggestions?

Anyway, my project is going to be:

Install LEDs in rear fog lamp, rear tail lights, rear brake lights

Install LEDs in rear turn signals

    Install LED/XTremeWhite/HID in reverse light

Install Xenon (HID) in front fog lamps

Install Xenon (HID) in cornering lights

Install side marker LEDs and replace amber side markers with clear ones

Hopefully I will be able to get and post pics as well

    Thanks

    Dan

haha mudman how did you break that seal what tool did you use im afraid to dent the rear end :censored:

    haha :D

  3. I purchased a '05 and had to upgrade the DVD because my street and surrounding streets were not on the map even though I moved into my house in 1999. The upgrade came with a CD (not DVD) that I put in the CD player and it was a set-up program for the new DVD. A menu driven easy to use set-up that I did myself. I wonder if my set-up CD is compatible with your DVD?

By the way, these cars have the lamest nav system I've ever seen. My little 4" Garmin is more useful and easier to use that the Porsche - but, oh well, it came with the car and I'll make the most of it.

feel free to email me if you want me to check on that CD disk.

    pimpin

it may be the DVD hardware itself issue not compatible

  4. Hi guys!

Hoping you can save me a trip to the dealer. Yesterday I lowered the back seats on my wife's '06 Cayenne to bring home some items we bought at the store. After unloading all of the items I attempted to raise the rear seats to their upright position and the seat was stuck. Upon further inspection, I noticed that it was the middle seat belt that was stuck and would not budge. Since it doesn't give way, I can't raise the seat. I have tried pulling on the belt briskly to see if it would release, but no luck.

I really don't want to take it in to the dealer since the nearest dealer is 60 miles away. Any suggestions? Anyone encounter this issue?

    Thanks for all the support!

    Ralph

try to pull forward both front seats and re-lower rear seats lift up larger driver side section of rear seat....then raise passenger side the middle belt harness should re-raise..its on a spring hinge.

if not it may require a "stealers" touch

  5. I installed a BEL RX-65 in my 2004 Cayenne S with the "Smartplug" system for hardwiring. It was fairly simple. I used the suction cup windshiled mount just under the rear view mirror, and and I mounted the Smartplug controller on the dash, right by the a-pillar. I ran the wire down underneath the trim for the a-pillar and tapped into a switched fuse, so the unit turns off when the ignition is off. I attached a pic of the Smartplug unit, and of the installation of the controller on my dash.

i mounted mine left of rearview mirror

  6. not sure about the plastic bumper pieces, however, you will need a 'turbo' valence as the 's' valence is fitted for the 's' bumper....the turbo valence is lower and a different part.

so for your project you'd require a turbo bumper, turbo valence, and turbo hood.

I did the full conversion to mine for about 2000 dollars

    front bumper

    4 grills

    mounting supports

    hood

    paint

    etc

cool could you tell me where i can buy the turbo hood from?

    thx

  7. Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me, I am stuck. My 06 Cayenne V6 came with factory tow option. The problem is that I cannot find the proper wiring harness to fit the plate on the back of the vehicle, all wiring harnesses I found at parts stores dont fit the plate so cant be mounted. The 7 pin round coming off the vehicle plugs into the harness no problem just that screw holes to mount receptacle don't align. I called 3 dealers over the weekend and none of them have this part or have ever heard of anyone needing one. Should vehicle had the proper harness for the U.S. installed at factory? any help with this would be greatly appreciated so I can use this tow option. Thanks.

I used etrailer.com and ordered part number 11775 and it fit the Cayenne. It is a Pollak 7-way rv oem style socket. If you type that part number in their search box you should see it on their site.

If the trailer you will be using has a 'flat 4' or other type of connector you may also have to buy a 7 pin to 'whatever you have' adaptor. I have a flat-4 on my utility trailer and had to buy that adaptor. All works great with this setup.

    Good luck.

You need a general plug adapter plate i have it for my 05 cayenne and tow my boat with it :)

  9. have you called your dealer?

Yes, they said this is the first they've heard of it but they'll mention it to the regional rep. I was hoping someone elsewhere in the world (i.e. this group) would know more. Also, if Porsche doesn't know about the problem... how do we get this information to the right people?

I just purchased an 06 left over and I have the exact same issue with MP3 CDs. Random turns itself off, and when I put Random back on, I get the same songs over and over again.

Did you ever find a solution?

maybe its a software issue? update?

  10. 1), Looking at buying a muffler for my Cayenne Turbo.

Im not too fussy with brand names as long as it doesn't cause cabin drone whilst giving me the proper V8 sound.

Need your suggestions on what muffler to get and where?

2), I've read a thread here about fabspeed secondary cat bypass pipes on Turbo which one member claimed losing 10hp at the wheels. Is this true? Has anyone else experienced similar results? Dyno graphs perhaps?

    Thanks

    fabspeed is good and techart

  11. does anyone know if thats part of a package and if so what the name of it is? i dont have them on my 05 cS...if i wanted to swap them in, would it be an easy switch?

my uncles 05 CS has them and the 06 loaner i have right now has them..theyre interesting and 'cool' ha

You probably have to buy nwe mirrors....Just swap the mirrors on the loaner :)

Seriously what you probably need is

Rear / Lower bracket with cut out of 06 Mirror

    Wiring Harness

    Light Assembly

  12. I apologize in advance if this has been posted but I can't find it.

I just got a pair of the Porsche Sport Exhaust tips for the Turbo, and I am trying to figure out how to install them.

I assume it is a matter of releasing a ring clamp which I see at the base of the stock tips (at the exit tube off the muffler) and just twisting the old ones off and putting the new ones one, and of course retightening the ring clamp.

If anyone has done this and I assume many have, is this correct and what is the torque specs on the ring clamp which holds the tips on?

    Thanks in advance.

I just got a pair of sports exhaust tips myself, and I was wondering whether you had to remove the rear bumper to install the ring clamp?

Only remove clamp no bumper...REQUIRED TURBO VALENCE PIECE OF CAKE TO INSTALL

  13. Hi, I've got a 2006 Cayenne with the audio system that plays mp3's. I have two complaints about the "random" track seek feature and I wonder if anyone else has found a work-around or if there's a firmware upgrade to resolve the issues.

Let's take the example where you've burned your own CD with 150 mp3 files on it...

    1. It doesn't stay in random mode when you turn the car off and back on. It's quite a few button clicks each time you start up the car to put it back into random mode.

    2. The random number generator isn't seeded (sorry for the computer geek speak). What this means is that it's the same "random" sequence each time you start the car... for example, you will get tracks 44, 52, 6, 10, 105, 72, etc. the first time you play. Then turn off and on the car, go back to random track mode, then notice that it plays EXACTLY THE SAME SEQUENCE (i.e. 44, 52, 6, 10, 105, 72, ...). Your numbers will be different of course (probably depends on the number of tracks on your disc), but they'll be the same each time you play that disc. Hardly what I call random.

Does anyone know if Porsche is aware of these problems and if so, do they have a firmware upgrade which resolves them?

    have you called your dealer?
