Hi Waliboy, I also have a key that now does not work.

My key can clearly be seen on my RF Spectrum field strenth meter but I think mine has lost its code so therefore will not work at all.

Strange that yours is intermitant.

P.s those microswitches are all over ebay or Maplins,Farnel/Cpc etc

Ah I see,

If your OEM intake does not have a little 10mm or so break out, Just behind the Helmholtz split and just infront of the Throttle then yours never had the breather.

I think it was only some tip's that had it for some reason?.

Gives a better idea what on earth I'm on about.

You can see in this uwfull picture mine is on the left of my intake and instead of putting a breather filter on it I have removed the helmholtz resonator and put it to the air box so its filtered (which is pretty much as OEM did it).

Check Earth, Fit Suppressor.

Should remove any noise.

I actually think that parts of Europe eg: France, Spain etc. should have these too "Have you seen them try to park"

Lets put it this way if you go there leave your car in neutral and the handbrake off "your get less damage"!.

We don't have them in the UK, as we don't need them Parking is part of our driving test. :P

The price is high but they use Porsche's special paint that flexes and matches perfectly (on all their products).

Worth it in my opinion.

But touch up paint for the 996 is Acrylic water based and that flexes, And most people will have the right color for there car, Hell of a price for a Grommet.

But if people are silly enough to pay it, Money makes the world go round.

I guess the £ pound still ant that good at the moment either.

Proper race cars are all mainly Auto's now days are they not?.

I love it when people reckon they drive shift quicker than auto.

The idea of steering wheel shift is speed & not having to move your hands off the wheel.

If you hold the wheel at 10 to 2 the buttons are below your wrists and nowhere near your thumbs.

I don't understand what sort of person designs a sports wheel on a sports car so bad.

Must have been the same idiot that built the bearings and plastic parts on our cars.

If you really want to race with a 996 on a track - get a manual.

Tiptronic is a convenience.

PDK is convenience plus race.

I know of cars that don't have tip buttons on the wheel, Which means ECU Re-prog or interface box as well.

And paddle mods on those brands of car are still a fraction of the cost.

Surly this would be a simple mod for Tips that already have the horrible wheel buttons?.

And then Connect them in parallel to the existing buttons?.

Even with can bus I'm sure this would work, I have seen it done with many other makes of car I think the problem is not many people pull there Porsche apart.

No - many many people are very comfortable putting their Porsche's apart.

If you believe you can make a clean, well functioning paddle shifter kit that can be retrofitted to existing steering wheel - I highly recommend you create and market one - I'm sure many people will buy it.

Compared to other Brands of vehicle "No way" you only have to look at the forums for proof of that.

But it makes sense. you see more Honda civics on the road than you do 911's I'm sure you would agree.

As for Manufacturing my own Paddle shift, I have no interest in doing so. but I fail to see why those switches could not be jumped off in parallel to add some paddles.

No way Should someone charge £1500 for that. If there was no Tip and interface boxes etc were involved that's different.

but that price is brand hiking.

And if there were a Can bus issue I'm sure a few resistors would sort it.
