As Loren says, but both lights will go on when one of the switches are closed, in other words when the trunk lid is open, the light in the engine room will also be activated and vice versa. The switches are located inside the locking mechanism front and rear.
I appreciate the feedback and I am sorry for the double post, I wanted to explain the issue more clearly. That being said I am not sure you are completely understanding my issue. It appears to more, perhaps incorrectly, that you are talking about the lights in the truck and engine area.
My issue is that the light is on in the dash saying that one or the other of the hoods are not closed. So, I have the red light with the picture of the truck and engine compartment lids open.
The issue is probably the micro switch as you mentioned. Does anyone have any idea on how I determine which one is defective, swince either one will illuminate the dash light?

2002 "S" has the trunk lid or trunks are open light on now and then. Does one sensor control both trucks? Where is it located? It appears that I have a loose connection or the sensor is starting to fail.
Truck lid open light on in dash, sometimes!

I appreciate all the advice. Once the temperture gets down below a 100 degrees, I will play with it until it is corrected.
