Agree 100% about the interior upgrades. My younger daughter looked at the prior design and went to the Audi because she didn't like the interior.

Just ordered my 2022 Macan, with my build slot arriving around the end of July,

Cannot wait to get my new ride. Took one for a spin today and couldn't wait to finalize my configuration and place my deposit.

Um, as far as I know, the MB 229.5 specification is a Mercedes-Benz standard and has nothing to do with Porsche.

Does Porsche now approve oils that don’t meet MB 229.5?

The Mobil 1 Extended Performanceoils are fine products.

But, they do not have MB 229.5 approval, which exist on all Porsche approved oils. The MB 229.5 oils appear to be superior to other oils.

There are lots of approved viscosities and brands. Isn't it possible to pick one that satisfies both sets of requirements?

Either the new battery was not fully charged, or there are excessive dark currents drawing the battery down.

Bring the battery to 100% charged to see if it has an acceptable standby time.

It may be that the new battery is bad, but that is not likely. It may be tested with an AC conductance meter.

This is the logo on an '04 CT. This is before the W401 logo change.

It sounds like the ground for the instrument cluster is not good.

This conversion could be improved by using motors, connected to the PCM, to attain hands-free driving.

Also, mulitple stations could be supported, using magnetic clutches, to permit four-zone driving, to fully support the back-seat drivers. In that case, special care needs to be provided to ensure the steering angle sensor is properly stimulated, to retain functionality for the PSM.

If four-zone steering is selected, the new Tequipment wheel x4 might be a good choice.

No interest in attempting to force these extra bits out of the engine with water?

Assuming the vehicle is used frequently, check the battery voltage, after it has sat for a coupla hours, it should be 12.5 VDC, for fully charged.

The glove box cooler may be mechanical. There is a flexible hose, pushed onto a nipple, that may have fallen off, inside the dash. (Assuming the cooling selection lever is set to the open position.)

The Porsche rubber mats are an excellent choice, virtually indestructable and easy to clean.

The coco mats are a nice option, too. I use these in my MB, for a little color. They offer more conventional color selections too.

The Porsche-approved oils would not result in this dramatic shift in fuel economy. It would be surprising if the dealership used non-approved oils.

The pad and rotor wear limits are defined here. In most cases the dealership replaces the rotors and wear sensors with the pads.

Don't forget that the brake fluid must be flushed every two years too.

Don't forget that the countries where the tuner is offered use the PAL TV standard, while the US uses NTSC.

A 0.250" male Faston tab connector may be inserted into an unused fuse location for power. The wire would then have an in-line fuse for protection.

The battery needs to maintained fully charged, at all times to maximize battery life.

A battery will self-discharge over time, usually about 10% per month, more in warmer temperatures.

A battery that reaches about 70% state-of-charge will begin to sulfate rapidly. This is permanent damage that reduces battery capacity. The sulfation is also accelerated during warmer temperatures.

It does not hurt a battery to maintain it at float voltage, 13.8 volts for a flooded cell battery. A battery may be floated indefinitely without damage. BTW, a flooded cell battery would still need the electrolyte level maintained.

If you want to swap without losing setting, then you'll need to pump voltage into the cigar lighter and not short the positive lead to ground.

It is easy to quantify the battery health with an AC conductance meter. Gone are the dangerous load tests of the past.

The TSB instructs that the fuse panel is removed and a wired contact inserted for the switched and for the unswitched power. The problem is that a support obstructs removing the fuse panel so the contact may be installed.

Instead, use 0.250 male Faston tabs, poked into the appropriate fuse receptacles, to feed in-line fuses for the device.

Two contact points are required. One for the jack. Another strong location for the jack stand. There must be enough distance between them for both to exist at the same time.

Some Porsche vehicle require jack pads to prevent crushing the body.

Skip the ramps. With the jack and the jack stands the ramps are not required.

Do NOT ever go under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Jacks fail and the vehicle then falls rapidly.

If required for your vehicle, order the appropriate jack pad to avoid damage to the chassis.

(I take that back, there are 3 roads in 3 western states that I find very enjoyable).

The Leatherique is great stuff. I also use Now. It is a terrific fabric and carpet cleaner.

Inspection of the driver's side plugs / coils is straightforward as opposed to the passenger's side where extra stuff needs to come off. It should be part of the periodic maintenance / inspection.
